Chloe, if you trash it from the desktop, you'll also have to clear it from iTunes. Otherwise, iTunes will just tell you it can't find the file. So in iTunes, just right click and clear.

It's not that I want to get rid of these, just consolidate them. I have song icons on my desktop I want to get rid of without losing them on iTunes.
Also, do you guys store your videos on iTunes as a rule? Is that a good way to organize them?

oh! Then just drag them into your 'iTunes Music' folder. iTunes might still tell you it can't find the file when you go to play it, but you'll just have to browse and tell the program where the file's new location is.
I didn't know you could put videos on iTunes. I just stick 'em in a folder.

My suggestion is to empty iTunes, put all your music into a folder, and then put it all back onto iTunes. It's a lot easier than continuing to tell iTunes where to find it.

yeah, you can. I did it by accident once. I never watch them iTunes though, I just watch it on windows media player.

Oy, this is very confusing, because I think a lot of them are already in the folder. I just want to make sure that deleting the desktop icon will be okay. Well, I guess I'll just have to do some tests. Thanks for your help though.

I think it's okay if you delete the desktop item, as long as its in your itunes. It wont delete both copies.

If you delete it off your desktop, and that's your only copy, it will NOT be in your iTunes still. It will say it cannot find the file. If the songs go to your recycle bin, you can still restore them.
