Me too. It's great to see him do new and unexpected things.

Thanks Lynda. I see you're quite new to BWW. What brought you here?

I had to stay extra late at work because the computer system wasn't working. Figures, considering it's probably from the early 90s. At least I got paid to stand around!

I'm watching a show on the Discovery channel that appears to be about attraction. It's kind of interesting; did you know that your brain determines a set of preferable characteristics from the ages of 5-8?

bumping up from page 2

I also miss November of last year. Even though I wasn't here, I was checking the RENTblog everyday. I was also very dissapointed because I was in London when the movie came out.

Were you on vacation? If you had to be away, London's certainly a nice place to be.

I was visiting my brother. He was studying abroad for a semester there and my family wanted to go visit him. Unfortunately, my parents thought that Thanksgiving break would be a great time to go over.

Nice for him, I'm sure, not so nice for you.

I was just listening to Adam sing Beyond Belief, and I wish he would write himself more songs using his lower register. I love it on that song, and The Ringing in My Ear.

Yeah, he does have a really good lower register.

Just got back from my latest Rent experience. The touring cast is in Minnesota right now (a stupid state that I want to get out of that has nothing to recommend it other than 10,000 lakes). They're amazing. I saw them Tuesday, which was opening night, and today, closing day matinee. On Wednesday, they had the mini concert thing like the one I described at the Grove. My friend and I went (I swear we're the only Rentheads in MN). After the concert, there was an autograph session, and some of them remembered me from when I met them in L.A. in July. The memories of these people amaze me. I had them sign some of the pictures I took in L.A., which they thought was pretty cool. After today's show, we went around to the stage door. Bryce (Roger), Jed (Mark), and Ano (Angel) all remembered me from L.A. and Wednesday. It's crazy - they must all have photogenic memories or something. No matter how many times I see Rent (and it's a pretty big number), it's exhilirating every time. The first couple minutes of each show are always weird though, because it's distracting when you think of how other cast members did things differently... But anyway. End of latest Rent excitement.

Everyone who went to the 24-hour plays - you're so lucky. As I said, Minnesota is a very inconvenient state. As Maureen says, "I gotta get out of here!"

You're lucky to have seen Rent that many times. I live in a small town outside of Chicago and I've only seen about 4 shows in my whole life. I've never even seen Rent, so you should consider yourself lucky.

How long have you been there? From all the Adam shows you've seen, I assumed you lived here in NYC at first. I associate Minnesota with the Prairie Home Companion and Mary Tyler Moore, otherwise I kind of draw a blank.

It sounds like you had a great time. Nice you got to see the show twice. How well do Minnesotans take to Rent?

I've lived in stupid MN (can you detect any bitterness) for 12 years. I was born in California, and I haven't the faintest idea why we moved. But my mom used to live in NYC, so there's lots of family and friends there - luckily many reasons to visit. Family in California, too - and by some crazy luck, we were out there the week of Adam's concerts.

Minnesota...yeah... not a whole lot to recommend it. That is, unless 10,000 lakes are a big incentive. It's a pretty un-happening place. Prairie Home Companion is probably its only contribution to cultural arts. Minnesotans are really annoying when it comes to Rent. It's a much more reserved state than CA or NY, so being in the audience was frustrating because sometimes I felt as though I was the only one screaming. Or mooing. The general reaction here is, "Oh, yeah, isn't that the show where, like, everyone has AIDS?" Most people's exposure comes from that thing from the South Park movie, Team America. Hence the insistence that "everybody has AIDS"

And yuck. I just read the Star Tribune (MN newspaper) review. This guy just doesn't get the show, that much is clear. Same problem when the movie came out.

Dancin, I'm sorry you haven't been able to see many shows. I hope that changes for you.

You sound like Lexi, Ariella. She can't get out of her home state soon enough either. Any plans for the future about that? Are you still in school?

Unfortunately I'm still in school. But yes, come graduation, I'm out of here. I need to find a more open-minded place. A place where if you mention "Adam Pascal" the name sounds at least vaguely familiar, and if you say "Rent" the response is not, "Oh, right - I have to pay mine, too." Hopeless.

Chloe's right. I can COMPLETELY feel your pain. I'm moving in ten days after spending twelve years of my life in North Dakota. Minneapolis is heaven compared to here, trust me. I was actually very close to going to college at Macalester, as my parents wanted me to go there (technically St. Paul). Ariella, I hope you have the opportunity to move far away soon.

I lost Beyond Belief when my computer died.

I've lived just outside of Toronto my whole life. Toronto is no longer what it once was with Broadway, hopefully it will pick up again. But I've missed many opportunities to see shows because I didn't realize they were here. I am excited to finally see a "Broadway performer" when Sho comes to T.O. with Wicked. However, no one else seems to be coming near to me, and I'm having problems getting near to them.

Hey Sarah, I once heard there were plans for Billy Elliot to go to Toronto before Broadway, but I don't know if that's still true. If it does, be sure to see it.

I'll have to look into that Chloe. Phantom is coming back in February, so my friends and I are looking into seeing that. That was my first show that I saw when I was 10, so it'll be nice to see it again. Masquerade is still my favourite Broadway song.

It's a really good song. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part ten

Well, wish me luck everyone. I go into tech rehearsals tomorrow for "Chicago." I hate tech week. The director is gonna go absolutely crazy. It's as Adam put it so delicately at his concert, "The director can either help you out, or he'll f*ck you up the piehole." Sadly, I think I'm going to spend the week getting f*cked up the piehole. I can hardly wait.

What's your part?

F*cking someone up the piehole sounds fun and all, but I'm pretty sure the comment was actually about the director being "drunk in the aisles" (or so it sounded like). re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part ten Speaking of that comment, was he implying that the Aida director was a drunk? Hah.

as Adam put it so delicately

Yes, that's our Adam. He obviously harbors some very bad memories. Have fun, if that's possible. What's your involvement - performer or crew?

I hadn't heard it since the actual performance until a few days ago, thanks to the wonderful Ashley. He really, really nailed that song, even better than I remembered. It's so difficult too.

Aww, thank you for the mention, Chloe. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part ten I love Adam singing Beyond Belief, too. Has he done many rock covers in his own shows, not counting Broadway songs?

Masquerade is my favorite song from Phantom I think, Sarah. I'd kind of like to see it again as well, but probably on tour rather than Broadway.

During his shows to promote Model Prisoner he apparently used to perform several covers - I especially like his version of Stevie Wonder's song Superstition. He's got such a soulful voice that soul music seems like a natural. He's also done Daytripper, Pinball Wizard and Bat Out of Hell that I can think of off-hand. Need I mention Under Pressure?
