Nope...only Aida (back in the day).
If he ever gets to Texas, he's getting an award from me. I don't expect it anytime soon.
In other news, can I mention how happy I am to be back in my kitchen? It makes me happy
I'm sure it does, and I expect the scent of baking cookies to waft its way over the thread at any moment.
I took a look at the Bay Shore venue, and it's a 500 seat theater in quite a nice building. I'm sensing the possibility of the Broadway show with a band there. Apparently the Metropolitan Room is considered an excellent new cabaret space with a great sound system, so Adam's doing well. The Queens Theatre is great looking too. Here's a pic -

I'm wondering which of the shows the non-Metropolitan dates will be getting, too. I'm kind of inclined to assume that the bigger theatres will be getting the Broadway show, but the Brentwood Theatre (right? I don't know, I don't keep track of these things) was approximately the same size and he played his normal show there.
This is the link to ticket sales for the Bay Shore event, for anyone who's interested:

All tickets are apparently $50 and all but three of the tickets in the front section are sold out. Quite a few of the main seating tickets are sold out as well.

That's great to hear - so many seats sold almost two months before the event. And yes, the Brentwood was supposed to be about that size though people who were there felt that it was smaller. The Queens Theatre is about 250.
The Queens theater looks like it could hold a lot more than 250. Or maybe I'm naive when it comes to these types of things.
I'm finally listening to Adam's new songs. They are so beautiful. Although, probably listening to them isn't the best idea given my present messed up situation. Stupid boys.
I'm sorry you're feeling messed up, Sarah, but the songs are gorgeous, aren't they?
Angela, you're right. I got the venues confused. The Queens theater is close to 500 seats, and the Bay Shore one around 250.

I'm sorry that those boy issues still haven't been worked out. Feel free to let us know what's going on if you'd like.
What's your favorite from the new songs, though?
The Love Song. It's just so pretty, even without knowing the lyrics you can just feel the love.
For those of you who don't know. A friend and I admitted to liking each other (after making out, la la la) anyhow but the problem is there's a lot of drama surrounding us and he's just not in the position right now to deal with it. Like most high school groups we've had inner circle dating, the problem is both are exes are a little more attached than they should be after three years. Also his best friend (and neighbour) and I always haven't gotten along so well. We haven't talked since yesterday, and probably won't until Friday. I think we both need time to think on our own, now that we know where we're both at.

Hehe, "feel the love."
Anyway, I'm sorry about your confusing situation. I'd give advice, but I'm not really in the position to give romantic advice, nor do I even know what I would say if I were. I hope everything works out.
The good thing is that those three people are leaving in a couple of weeks to go to school in different towns. It'll just be us and our two friends who are a couple for the year that will be staying at home. Hopefully it'll give us the time to work things out.
That's rough Sarah. I've never been in that kind of inner circle situation, so I'm not sure what to tell you either. I'll take a stab at it though - keep cool, don't rush anything, don't jump to any conclusions based on what he does one way or the other.
The love song is really special. I like the fact that he wrote about not being well-prepared for life by his childhood. I wrote down most of the lyrics if you want them. There were a few I just couldn't get.
Do any of you watch the TNT series Saved? They use Under Pressure as their theme song, which brings up all kinds of associations with me that I'm sure they never intended.
Thanks Chloe. That's what my thoughts were too, just give things some time, and one way or another they'll work themselves out.
So many things get related back to this thread in real life. I'll hear something and giggle like an idiot while everyone stares at me wondering why I find these things so funny.
Yay for the additional shows.
Maybe if one is the more "cabaret" gig and one is the Broadway one, I'll go to one of each. I dunno.
For the record, Joe's Pub also has a two drink minimum. It means nothing; you can buy sodas. He won't allow an age restriction.
That's what we've been wondering, Emcee. The venues are really different, but the website schedule are pretty unrevealing. Once the tour is official announced, maybe it'll all come clear. I'm definitely going to the Queens show, and probably one of the Metropolitan ones.
I'm listening to The Love Song right now. My little sister (knows Adam from Rent OBC, movie, & little bits & pieces of his solo work) is within listening distance. She says that Adam's voice (in this song) sounds like he's yelling too much. She likes him better when he sings Rent.
I know what she's talking about. She's prettyyoung. She dioesn't underind the meaning of the words. And the Rent recordings are much more clear/better in quality. When I started listening to Adam's solo work, I was reluctant to listen to his music because I was scared of what I would here. His feelings & stuff like that. In Rent he was just playing Roger, so you kinda know what's gonna happen, in terms of his feelings & what he's gonna say/sing.
Sarah- That happens to me all the time. Like when I see a pineapple or a spork. =P
My mom grew up in Queens, so I was just talking to her about it, and she's giving me a bit of a hard time about how I'd get there and how safe it is, but I'm not going to make any decisions yet. There are fantastic seats, though.
Angela, you should e-mail them back and ask which show he's got planned for which venue.

You'd think that they'd have to announce the dates officially pretty soon, although I don't exactly trust his management or booking agency. It's weird that the Bay Shore show has sold more than half of the seats already; I guess he'll probably have a crowd full of primarily casual fans.
Angela, I think he sounds a lot more screamy, for the lack of a better word, on the Rent recordings than on that song. Are you sure your sister is remembering the right guy? Heh. I do understand your feelings of wanting to remain ignorant to something or someone, although that's never really happened to me with regards to Adam.
Emcee, getting to the Queens gig is pretty easy, according to their website. You take the #7 to the Shea Stadium stop and there's a trolley running before and after showtime that takes you to the theater. Looking at a map it's not far.
ETA: Angela, of course the sound of a professional recording is going to be better than an amateur one. Adam's voice has changed some, but I think he has better control and range now than he did back in the Rent days.

Yeah, she doesn't want me on the subways. Ever. Which is why she's giving me trouble.
So the trolley only runs for a half an hour after the performance? That's not very long. :/ What happens after that, you're stuck?
I finally purchased Adam's cds today. I don't know what took me so long. They should be here by the end of the week.
Good for you Elphie. Enjoy -
Emcee, not on any subways? I've ridden them for many years and the worst that's happened to me is being jostled. Thirty years ago the city was much less safe than it is now, and maybe that's what she's remembering. Now NYC is way down on the list of dangerous cities.
I was once on a subway at night where a crazy lady was shouting profanities and pounding on the doors. She was only on for two stops, but there was a group of us huddled in the corner. Thank god for them, they made me feel more comfortable.
Not so much safety as concern 'cause I'm asthmatic. Which I understand, but eventually they're going to have to know that I do use them, and let me do it without argument. Today I was talking to them about it, and I was like "you know, eventually I *am* going to have to start using them regularly," and my dad got really upset, telling me I can take cabs for the rest of my life. Does he not get that that's REALLY expensive? Ugh. Busses are just. so. slow.
Why would having asthma be an issue?
