A friend of mine somehow met somebody involved with the show, or something -- he said Adam's segment was going to be taped live. This was... yesterday. I guess it's worth a shot. I still feel like I should wish him luck if he's leaving.

By the way, to whomever mentioned the torrent: I downloaded it, extracted the files, burned it, did the whole nine yards, and the quality is horrible. The video is very fuzzy and grainy. I have seen the movie three times, so I don't exactly feel guilty about downloading it. However, it's not worth your time.

I thought we could all use some amusement this morning. Someone posted this on livejournal:

Ok, so... I think Adam Pascal is amazing, both in ability and looks. But there are a couple things about his looks that I just wonder about, now that I've seen him so close up in the movie... First off, he has such dark eyelashes compared to his blonde hair and eyebrows; it looks like he's wearing mascara all the time. In the movie, I could understand, but what about offscreen/stage? And then... something about his nose/upper lip bothers me a little bit... I realized it reminded me of Michael Jackson. Oh, what an insinuation, y'all are going to kill me! *hides*

LOL!

We really find the funniest posts on LJ.

Does this person know that he's not a natural blonde? I suppose he *could* dye his eyebrows, too. But at least he's not like Raul with freakishly blonde eyebrows and really, really dark hair.

I could kill her for comparing him to MJ, though! gr.

They seem to all have gone there, and not here. *knocks wood*

As long as someone answers their questions, I guess. I'm terrible. I'm like "he needs new fans, but I don't want to deal with them."

they're all like "I've been a RENThead since the movie came out!!!! Like what, 2 weeks ago? Sometimes it's just too funny. At least I find it amusing, not obnoxious. As long as I don't have to answer the same question 10 times, I'm fine.

Yeah, I don't want to answer "is he married? Is he gay? Can I date him?" a million times!

Any time I remotely feel like a stupid newbie, I just go look at some of the LJ posts and I suddenly feel a lot better about myself.

Oh, man, the girl sounded stupid, but I'm always so hesitant to say stuff like that publicly in case she ever dropped in on this thread. I don't get the Michael Jackson thing. Was she implying that he had plastic surgery? WTF? Heh.

Wow, Adam has NEVER reminded me of Michael Jackson, lol, not once. And his eyelashes=WOW. I love them. Ive said it before, but I must say it again- could not look away from his eyes during "Your Eyes". He just totally had me in that moment.

Really? I thought he looked kind of bad in "Your Eyes." Anytime you put a camera a couple inches away from someone's face, that person is bound to look kind of... not too great. My friend, a film major, was explaining the entire "Your Eyes" sequence in more detail and describing why it should have been filmed differently. He loved the movie overall, though.

Adam has amazing eyelashes. The best way to describe them is "ridiculously pretty."

Anyway, I moderate a message board about pop music, and one of the people who posts there has access to Soundscan data. I asked him for the to-date Soundscan totals of Adam's albums, and here they are:

PASCAL*ADAM CIVILIAN RTSH Album 2004-11-02 3344
PASCAL*ADAM MODEL PRISIONER RTSH Album 2000-05-16 9407

No Tony Danza appearance? I was so looking forward to that. Could Emcee's friend-who-knows-someone-involved find out more?

Em, basically it's the total number of copies each album has sold in the US since the release date, according to Soundscan's data. However, keep in mind that while the vast majority of retailers report their sales data to Soundscan, there are a few that don't, and sales through record clubs are usually not counted.

What about online sales? I'd think that would be most of them...

Yeah, me too. Online sales were apparently really high, though.

Hi all, what have I missed? Can someone explain those Soundscan things?

I've been really busy with my school's show, which is now over. While people were getting ready for closing night, someone played the Rent soundtrack. It was very weird to listen to everyone talk about it- "I hate the new Mimi, she's so blah." "I hate the old one, she's all scratchy and Rosario is so clean." "Roger is HOT!" "Oh my God, Adeeeena Meszel was in Wicked!" "I LOVE RENT SO MUCH!"

I know that Soundscan does track Internet retailers and digital download services (again, most but not all). In addition to the Billboard 200 (which counts sales from every retailer Soundscan tracks), there are also separate charts in the print edition of Billboard that track the top sellers across Internet retailers and digital download services, and when a chart-topping album derives an unusually high percentage of its sales from one or both of these outlets, there might be mention made of it in the magazine.

Sorry for the slightly long-winded response. As you might have guessed from my username, following the Billboard charts is one of my hobbies.
