heh. High school.
My brother says the drama club has an "office copy" with Maureen's cover, and they all try to harmonize with the CD. Badly.

Awwwwww. I'm really scared people are gonna start coming up to me and doing that. Since I'm the resident RENThead at our school(I'm not even that much of a RENThead). No one has even heard of a musical before. There are a few little Wicked fans, but I try to ignore them. So, I'm hoping selfishly that RENT won't catch on in our school.
blaaaahh very wierd...now all of a sudden everyone is obsessed w. RENT!! ahhh...it is making me go insane! they don't even know wht they are tlking about!
"OH MAH GAAHH!! I LOVE RENT! i wanna see it SOOO bad!" "seasons of hmmm...mmm...ooo ahh 525...wht was it again?" "wasn't that mooing girl in WICKEED?!"
Me:i was hysterically crying..blaah blaah

I just stayed out of it. Bad things would happen if I'd tried to explain.
At least they didn't call Roger "the mopey guy."
I got invited to a Rent themed party. I don't know if I should go and be friendly, or if I should steer clear and be scared.
You know, fans are what the movie needs, and at the very least they're going to help keep the Broadway show going for a while. I'm sure the kids who are just following a trend are annoying, but the situation isn't all that different from the original reaction to the show. Just set the ignorant ones straight.
Have you all read this reminiscence of the first Rent craze?

I'm afraid to read that, Chloe. I'm over-Rented. It took every ounce of my newfound willpower not to snap at the people who called 'the first Mimi' ugly and untalented. They can have their opinions, I suppose, but I don't take kindly to those who have listened to her Out Tonight once, decided it wasn't digitally touched up enough for their liking and ignored everything else.
I think I've read that before. If not, I've read something much like it.
My dad said Mimi was ugly and annoying after he saw the movie. hm.

Mini-rant:
Why was my thread deleted? I didn't insult Anthony Rapp himself, I simply stated my strong distaste for those who post things like 'Anthony, I was crying sooooooo harddd because you're sooo brillianntt'.
*twitch*
I didn't see the thread - but I understand where you're coming from. There doesn't seem anything deletable in what you describe.
Pre-emptive deletion, perhaps? I don't think threads should be deleted until they *get* bad, but such is not the case.

It's the EXACT same thing as the anti-Idina fan posts.
*fumes* He's just NOT that much better than everyone else and I'm sick of that attitude.

I don't know where to write this, so I'll put it here where no one gives a ****.
My roommate comes in the room - I have the TV on and am obviously ff*cking watching and he just cahnegs the TV...so i thought it was just for the commercial...NO! Now, it isn't a big deal - but hes such a ****bitch! I hate him.
Can you switch next semester, BSo?
Skip this if you really don't want to read anything more about Rent
Speaking of Mimi, I've been thinking a lot about the Mimi/Roger relationship in the movie. Rosario has gotten a lot of good reviews, but I'm not sure she's vulnerable enough. Adam described them as two lost, desperate souls, which seems right. Rosario called Mimi fearless, but I think it should be more a case of the kind of bravado that's trying to cover up fear and loneliness.
Anyway, I'm not sure whether Rosario's off-screen demeanor hasn't colored my perception of her Mimi.
ETA: Sorry, BSo. He sounds like a jerk.

No. I'm stuck with this muthah****a.
And he still hasn't cleaned his mess in the F*CKIN' fridge!
I swear he makes my blood boil.
And I was waiting all day to see a new episode of the simpsons...then he comes in and changes it. Bastard. I hope he falls on the ice and....GRRR

I think Mimi's fearlessness is something of a farce. Maybe that's the wrong word for it, but that's not ENTIRELY who/what she is.
Anyway, I'm not sure whether Rosario's off-screen demeanor hasn't colored my perception of her Mimi.
I totally agree. I still think she did a good job, but I liked her performance better before we were inundated with Rosario interviews.
Tell him to clean it, BSo.

Sorry, BSo. Sounds like a bad day.
Chloe, I'm annoyed with the 'Rosario-pushers'. Everything you hear is about her, not the movie. Who. Cares.

sorry BSo...I too am having major roommate issues. At this point, we don't speak at all. It's very uncomfortable and not the way I would like to be living, but I don't really want to deal with it at this point.
He'll probably take his uber-huge confidence out to LA, have no luck, pout about it and come home. As good as he was in Rent, I don't think people are going to be knocking down his door with film offers.
Fantabulous, do you just have nothing in common and it's awkward, or do you fight?

My roommate keeps up late at night - then I get home to actually GO to class or do something productive (which means a lot coming from me - considering I sleep until 3 on the weekends)...and I know he gets pissed I 'wake' him up.
Oh, and did I mention his "friend" (as he says) broke our door - so his ppl always open the door and come in. WTF!
I can't lock it...I can't really shut it.
He has a weird schedule, doesn't go to class, is making a ****load of money on online poker, won a trip to australia, and sleeps all day.
BSo and Fantabulous, I hope things get better for you. I had major roommate issues last year, and it made pretty much the entire spring semester a living hell for me. Looking back, I could kick myself for some of the s**t I let her get away with because I didn't want to stir things up.

Wow, don't even get me started on Rosario! I cannot stand her. She always sounds like she's trying oh so hard to prove something or other in her interviews and comes off as a total attention wh*re. Her voice is so flimsy and she's always overpowered by Adam. I love the movie soundtrack in general, but Rosario drives me up a wall in general.
Although, to be fair, I didn't have a huge problem with her acting. I think there were things she could have done better, but in the end, much of that stuff is just personal opinion of mine.
umm, its more of a lack of common interest. We don't speak, therefore there is no way for us to fight. I just feel like I am a more considerate person in terms of living with someone else. So things that I do that are just common sense to me, my roomates don't do and then I get pissed.

It sounds like he hasn't had a single thing... and his music's not going too far either.
So sad.
BSo, do you own any large hammers?
