Nia, look up.
Matzoh balls are made from matzoh meal, with oil and water, Chloe. That is, if you use the packages. I'm not sure what you have to do to make them from scratch.
They are amazing, Nia, you must try them.
insomniak, I'm not sure how one actually makes the matzoh balls but matzoh ball soup is just broth and the "balls". You can also add other things, my mom usually puts steamed carrots in.
mmmmmmmmm. Soup!

I'm in need of a new food.
Thanks, Chloe, I didn't see that.
Don't forget the parsnips, onions, and parsley! It's really the best stuff on earth.

Soup is always a great late-night snack...I'm making some cup o noodle
Skittles, I thought the DC metro was cheaper...everytime I went on it, it was $1.35 per ride, NY subways are $2...and you should have seen my shocked reaction the first time I stepped on a DC metro...carpeting, not crowded, clean, comfy seats, I was in shock, my non NY friends thought this was quite funny. But then I didn't realize I needed to keep my ticket when I exited since you don't hafta in NY and had to pay another $1.35. Hrmph.
Well those kinds of friends make me so happy to know you all!
The secret to good matzo ball soup is using seltzer instead of water to make the matzo balls. They come out fluffier that way.
I guess it kind of matters how much distance you cover. NYC is 2 bucks which is sucky if you're not going far but great if you're going clear across town. In DC the price changes depending on where you're getting off. So sometimes it's a good deal and sometimes not.
hm. How does one explain matzoh meal?
Nia, matzoh meal is basically very finely ground matzoh. Like corn meal, but with matzoh.
Wow, how many of us are Jewish?

With all the Jewish people on this thread, I can't believe I'm having to answer insomniak's questions.
I believe matzoh meal is made by crumbling up matzoh, which is the unleavened bread used at Passover. It usually looks like very large Saltine crackers.
mmmmm u guys r making me hungry!

Thanks to all. Is it socially acceptable for WASPs to eat this stuff? It sounds kind of good.
Heh, Chloe. Us Jews don't understand how the food is made - we just eat it . It all traces back to those stereotypical nagging mothers telling us to eat whatever they put on the plate because they spent all day making it, and how could we not appreciate their hard work, etc.
Nia, it is unacceptable for anyone not to taste matzoh ball soup at least once in his/her life!

Billboard, WASP mothers do that too. Maybe it's a female thing.
Yeah, we just like food. And most people love Jewish food, regardless!
Sorry, I have another IMDB post, but this one just takes the cake and I had to share:
I walked out of the theater and told my friends that I would be willing to get AIDS if it meant that I would be able to spend the rest of my life with Adam Pascal - lol.
Lucky Mimi indeed.
*HEADDESK*
we can have a repeat latke conversation if you'd like.
wow. what do you say to that? That is so pathetic. Do they even understand what they said?
I don't even know what to say to that, skittles. AHH.
Well I'm not sure I know either, I was just deducing. My Jewish ex-boyfriend's mother didn't really know how to make this stuff either. Her mother had been a terrific cook, but somehow failed to pass on the recipes.
