Yaay, pretty much done w/ essay/papers! Just gotta wait for my sister to send me edited notes back, and pray my teachers don't give me anymore work tomorrow, which would be mean.
Woow, if I realized the conversaton had turned so Jewish culturish, I would have let everyone know I was watching an interesting program on VHI called "Jews' contribution to Pop Culture." Talked about JAPs, typical Jewish mothers, Jews owning hollywood(not b/c we value education, b/c we're the chosen ppl--duh!), lack of Jewish athletes, rock boys like Kiss, Beastie boys, how hip hop artists where the same things that old Jewish ladies do...and then they went around and started asking ppl what a moyle was. Very interesting.
There's 3 things all non-Jews must eat in a lifetime: matzoh ball soup, matza, and most importantly...gefilte fish!
Some of the reactions I have gotten from friends when I made them try kefilte fish...I like it, I think some of them overreacted...

Gefilte fish.
I love the out-take on Rush Hour 2 where Chris Tucker can't say gefilte fish, and he keeps saying "filter fish."

Yea...but I love the woman who keeps yelling "GEFILTE!:
"What type of fish is this?"
"GEFILTE!"
"Filter fish?"
"GEFILTE!"
Wow, really?? I know I'm a bad Jew but I always thought it began w/ the K/C sound...though now that I think about it when my mom says it, it can sound that way...oh well.
According to my friends, it sounds cooler than it smells/tastes.
That sounds like a really interesting show, wickedrentq.
I really want to watch the Rugrats Hanukkah special right about now. So many hilarious moments, but I think my favorite is Grandpa Boris explaining that the real miracle of Hanukkah is that we've been clogging our arteries with this food for 2000 years and yet we're still here.
Yay, I finished writing up my notes for tomorrow morning's final! Sure, I'm exhausted and have ink stains all over my fingertips, but I have my notes! Now let's hope I can actually read what I wrote when tomorrow morning rolls around (I don't exactly have the neatest handwriting to begin with, and when I'm tired and trying to cram lots of information onto a small area of paper...)
Heh, I love how most "Jewish" words don't really have a set English spelling. I remember being bored once and figuring out there are 16 different ways to spell Hanukkah (C or no C at the beginning, 1 n or 2, 1 k or 2, h or no h at the end).
Aww, I always loved that the Rugrats integrated Jewish holidays into their episodes, Didi's parents were so Jewish and so funny...but I think my fav is the Rugrats Passover...Stu's attempt at running the seder, Pharoah Angelica, Tommy Moses...good times.
I love Angelica complaining about not being able to have cookies at the beginning of the Passover episode. I know I have both the Hanukkah and Passover episodes on tape somewhere. I'm going to have to find them and watch them. Of course, I have to actually get home first *crosses fingers that strike doesn't happen*
I wish that my roommate would do her work during the day so that she didn't *always* stay up all night, because now HER sleep deprivation is becoming mine. I'm beginning to get sick of waking up every two hours to the TV, the light, or careless noise; she usually tries to be quiet, but silence is impossible. It's been over a week since she's gotten sleep a respectable, considerate hour, and I'm getting really irritated by it. I'm so ****ing tired all the time. Hell, she's so tired all the time. Last night: "Hey, I'm not sleeping tonight!! It's okay, I'm not tired! *clunk*" and she was out on her desk.
F*CKin' A, but this is unfair.
rawr. Sorry to complain. I'm up and I can't fall asleep again. My alarm goes off at 7:55, and I absolutely HAVE to wake up then. I have so much studying to do, and I can't do it on six hours of broken sleep. One more sleepless night and I'm going to break someone's arm. I'm tempted to go curl up in the cushy chair in our hallway so I can actually stay asleep. I just woke up at 20 after three, and got up to turn out one of the lights myself. Someone kill me.
Sorry Em, but at least you get to go home on Wednesday right?
I usually would be sleeping a little bit before now b/c of my early class tomorrow, but when the strike announcement was made...well, it's not like I'm even in the city but I just can't turn off the TV and go to sleep, ya know? Besides, now that I'm certainly not going to the city tomorrow, I can nap after classes.
It should be an interesting couple of days, if not more. Though I think it's funny that they keep saying this morning, last night, if you're just waking up, etc...considering I haven't lied down at all.
Yeah, after I take a really effing hard final exam, which I didn't study enough for yesterday because I was so TIRED.
*stuffs head under pillow*
ARGH. I don't understand why it's so hard not to spend all of your daylight hours in la-la land when you have work to do, simply because you *can* sit there to all hours of the night. I can't function without sleep, and I don't know how other people can. I'll get sick if I don't sleep, and I'd sure as hell better not get sick. (I don't have the time to waste on a nap during the day, either.) More power to you if you can, but if it affects me, then I'm not a happy camper. Usually I sleep through her staying up, but lately I haven't been, and this is not a good thing.
Shoot. Me.
Read your edit/addition...that's awful! If there isn't already a roommate agreement about this, you really should talk to her about it, I mean REM sleep is important to studying and while there should be some leniency, for her to have lights on and TV and stuff is ridiculous.
One night when I wasn't feeling well, my roomie who I love dearly...see I needed to go to bed early, she needed to be up till 4am...she took some of her sheets and put them all around my bed(we had bunk beds I was in the bottom so they just hung from her bed) and turned my bed into a "princess bed." I also had a fan blowing to block out noise, so it wasn't perfect but I was able to sleep and I'm a light sleeper.
Yeah, exactly. Even when I do sleep through this I still wake up dead tired. For the past five days or so I've been waking up like four times during the night. This isn't healthy; do it to yourself, but not to me. We have another room in the apartment, but I'm too passive to be like "go there." I love my roommate to death, but her sleeping schedule has absolutely gone to hell, and I really don't love that. I'd rather eat my foot right now than be awake.
I will also kill someone if I'm too tired to do well on this exam. I swear to God. This isn't f*cking FAIR. I hate that I'm too passive to say anything, but what I am I supposed to do? She doesn't study during the day, so now is the only time she has to do it. I can't make her not study, but I'm not going to rearrange my schedule, too and start making up for my not-sleeping in the middle of the day.
So far, tonight, I haven't even slept for two hours, and I want to die.
I'm a light sleeper when it comes to falling asleep but usually sleep fine after.
Well your exam is Wednesday right? Then you gotta say something for tomorrow night, like you said you don't wanna be too tired while taking the test and REM sleep is important in storing memories, or in this case, what you spent the day studying.
And, no matter how panicky/stressed you get, take it easy as much as you can tomorrow! Maybe if necessary come up in your head w/ a shortened list of things to study? Take naps if you need them...don't force yourself to stay awake...b/c if you're studying while you're too tired, you won't remember it, it'll be a waste, and you'll just stress yourself and make yourself sick.
Well...if you wanna take Eric Idle's advice(always look on the bright side of life)
When i get very little sleep, I get very moody/bitchy, sure that would be the case w/ you, so if you get that little sleep, there's no way you won't be bitchy enough to stay passive. Then you'll get lots of sleep tomorrow night!
Me too; I'm so tired that I just pass out right away. But in the middle of the night, I end up doing this: grabbing the computer and losing an hour of sleep, which, is basically like starting over again, if there's that big of a break.
My exam is Wednesday, but I need to do all of my studying tomorrow, DURING THE DAY. I also have to write a paper, which is why I need to be up early, because I have to work on it before I meet my professor at 10:30. Luckily I don't tend to stress out that much about the exams themselves; it's not always a good thing not to worry about them, but either way, I won't like, make myself sick over being nervous.
Well, I'll be damned. I think the night owl is actually going to go to sleep. I suppose I'll just set my alarm for a tiny bit later and just deal with it in the morning. I'm going to be in such a sh*tty mood tomorrow, ugh.
Ok, well she's going to sleep, so I'd better drift back off, too, because I can expect to be woken by her 297394832409384039 alarms in a few short hours.
Goodnight.
Goodnight.
No, you know I would know, not getting too stressed out is an AMAZING asset to have. You're very lucky.
::takes note not to piss off Em tomorrow::
Oy. Well, I just made more soup, still haven't been able to decide I should try to get my now 4 hours of sleep I'm about to...and now I'm watching the...early morning news. That's sad.
*hugs Em*
I hope your studying goes well today and you get a good night's sleep.
Ugh. F*CKing transit strike. My dad somehow managed to get to work this morning, so I'm probably going to try to get down to where he works after my final.
I actually had a dream about the strike last night, and Adam was in it. It was something about the strike being over and there was a concert being held in the Times Square station to celebrate. Adam was one of the performers, and he was wearing a MetroCard-print shirt
And I'm awake...
Joy.
Ugh, me too. An hour and a half later than I should have been. F*CK.
Good luck Em, remember take it easy!
How much sleep did you end up getting?
All togther, like 6 hours. At one time, four and a half.
BRING ADAM BACK! BRING ADAM BACK!
