yay for morning laughter, glad I brought something amusing.
I'm so glad there are nice people around ... cause on CB the whole thread talking about it just wound up being even MORE mean spirited. T
Spread the "lub" :)
I think if I was famous (or at least talk-about-able) I wouldn't be able to stand googling myself. I would think it takes a lot of guts to be out there in the world for people to criticize ... the good posts and articles would inflate the ego and the bad stuff would make me sad ... it'd be rough.
Haha, poor Adam and boo for mean message boarders.
Skittles, you're younger than me?
Wait -- the thread was mean? I don't get what the CB'ers have against him. I mean, he's in their BELOVED OBC.
I think they just think he's a jerk.
And maybe he has been a jerk to some of them, but maybe it's because some of them are psychotic.

CB will find a way to bitch and moan about anything.
Aw, poor Adam. I don't even think IMDB is too "vicious," per se... more like 100 fangirls fawning over him.

And Em, I swear I keep hearing people alluding to that he's rude, mean, whatever, but no one can provide any examples. *shrug*

I know what you mean, Siamese. I think everyone has 'just heard about it' and probably only one person has ever experienced it. You have to remember that some people also think it's rude if the actor only signs twenty autographs before going home. It's not their JOB to scribble on playbills.
Well, at the time we were all talking about younger posters, I was definitely the second youngest person there; you had already left. I'm 20, though.
He's only rude if you deserve it. It's not as if he's mean by nature. He's really the total opposite. I don't think I've ever seen someone who wears such a huge, goofy, genuine-looking grin more often.
Whatever. He's nicer to me than he needs to be, and it makes me mad when people say he's an asshole.
The IMDB fangirls make me want to gauge my eyes out. I wish they acted like they had brains, and not just hormones.
AHHHH I just read the resolution. Well, like someone said, if he uses the word "vicious," he hasn't looked hard enough, because he hasn't found us.
Adam, we love you!
(And we lofe you, too.)
I said to someone last night that the entire IMDB message board doesn't share a single brain cell amongst them. But I still have this morbid fascination with reading it. Like watching a trainwreck.
Adam was very nice when I met him. He stayed longer than everyone else signing autographs, talking and taking pictures, even when the staff at Symphony Space were like literally dragging him away. He even stayed longer than Anthony (OOOOOOO!)
Ahh okay Skittles you are a year older than me, that's what I thought.
i've said this plenty of times before and I'll say it again since I first met him though it's only been in the past couple of months he has been an absolute doll--sweet to me and everyone.
I remember being really impressed by that. The guy was practically tugging him by the sleeve, and he wouldn't go anywhere. Every time he was like "okay, I have to go!" someone would go "but Adaaaaam!" and he'd stay a few minutes more. And better, he wasn't going anywhere until I got my photo.
(Anthony is smaller and therefore more easily draggable. That's how Adam beat him. Oh, snap!)

I swear, CB is cynical just for the sake of being cynical. Kind of funny when their favorite musical embodies the very opposite of cynicism.
Although, I'm left wondering if he means "kids" literally or "kids" meaning people younger than him in general, i.e. I'm not sure if he's referring to mean 11-year-olds or just mean people in general.
orangeskittles, I feel the same way about IMDB! I just can't tear my eyes away.

Sorry for the threadjack, but Em, I did try...
Boo for poor quality!
OOOOO! He also stayed long enough to sign my CD- over top of Anthony's signiture.
See, with all us suck-ups, he obviously hasn't discovered the good stuff online. Someone should nudge him in the right direction. This thread would be great for his ego.
siamese, someone on CB was complaining about being called a kid, saying "I'm 23!" I was just thinking "Yeah, and you're 12 years younger than him. Therefore, a kid."
His Resolution makes me laugh.
Em, next time you're stalking him, tell him to come check us out.
I love Adam's resolution. It's kinda scary how some people think that real-life rules of tact don't apply to the Internet and say whatever vicious things they can think of, and performers shouldn't subject themselves to that.
"The IMDB fangirls make me want to gauge my eyes out. I wish they acted like they had brains, and not just hormones."
WORD. People like that make me embarrassed to be a teenage girl. Yes, Adam is ridiculously hot, but there's so.much.more to him than that, and the hotness is all that the IMDBers seem to care about.
"I swear, CB is cynical just for the sake of being cynical. Kind of funny when their favorite musical embodies the very opposite of cynicism."
Again, WORD. The way they seem to enjoy ripping newbies to shreds and devouring alive anyone who doesn't know quite as much about RENT as they do is downright scary.
I think that's what makes BWW so great; you guys know what you're talking about but are nice and welcoming.
"Although, I'm left wondering if he means "kids" literally or "kids" meaning people younger than him in general, i.e. I'm not sure if he's referring to mean 11-year-olds or just mean people in general."
Interesting. I sort of interpreted it as a comment on the maturity level of the typical mean person on the Internet. I've seen really nasty flamewars in some of my other fandoms and was shocked to find out that the participants were in their 30s because they were acting like 12-year-olds.
I shudder to think what he may have come across that caused him to react that way. Some of the CBer's are fine, but too many of them seem to have decided that any kind of enthusiasm is uncool, an attitude which goes a long way toward proving their immaturity no matter what their age. Well, maybe they'll grow out of it.
Cybele's cookbook was delivered today. It has a really lovely photo of the four of them on the back. It looks like it's from about a year and a half ago. She's smiling and looks beautiful holding Lennon. Adam has Monte in one of those baby carriers like a reversed backpack.
In the acknowledgements she writes, "I'd like to express deep appreciation to my husband, Adam, for his encouragement and enthusiasm. (I know he married me for my cooking.)"

Word. Some of the biggest dramas on the Rent LJ are caused by posters that are in their late 20s, but it's the younger people that always get the bad rep. Just like on this board...
CB I really don't have too much of a problem with, but I've just learned to avoid the drama by not taking anything too seriously or personally.

Ugh, don't even get me started on the LJ drama. It takes more time to engage in an LJ argument than to just scroll over what you may feel is a "stupid" post. Yeah, the barrage of "MERRY CHRISTMAS BITCHES!" posts was annoying, but it takes longer to complain than to just ignore it. Orangeskittles is right -- it's usually the 20+ people who cause all the problems because they feel that they're the "real" fans.
Chloe, thanks for the info on the cookbook. I'll probably skip on buying it as, thankfully, no one I know (including myself) has food allergies, but it sounds like she did a wonderful job with it.
