I'm sure it's much better than you think! Just take one unique aspect about yourself and run with it.

Elphie! You got into U Chicago - your writing can not be as bad as you make it seem.

It's not really that my writing is bad, it's just that I only get 8 lines, and I can't write it in only 8 lines, and I'm so sick of working on it. I have a hundred billion other essays to go over, too, but I just...can't. skdghkds;ghskjgb

Do most of your schools use the common app? Are you able to reuse essays?

"What I find most appealing about Columbia and why." grrr....

Only 2 of my schools use the common app. And I can't really reuse any of my essays, except one. They all stink, anyway.

Sigh ... too bad that won't work :)

Yeah, I've tried that. It's just...it's really hard to write it and say what I want without making it cliche and stupid. If I had unlimited space I could do it, no problem. That's what I did for Chicago. But 8 lines is just NOT enough, because it's not even 8 full lines; you can't use the whole length of the page.

awww, I feel your pain Elphie! My friends are all im-ing/e-mailing asking for ideas and help and such. I'm glad I'm done. I know I'd be going crazy right now if I still had stuff to do, but if you want any input - not that I'm an expert by any means - but I think I'm the only one I know who actually enjoyed the college process so....you can always im me.

*waves at Atrias* Great meeting you tonight! And don't feel bad about being young (uh, says the second youngest person there) you were awesome!

Just to catch up on the convo: I'm a longtime Elton John fan. I used to listen to my mom's records of him every day when I was like 4. He's on my fantasy list of people I'd most want to meet, right after Julie Andrews and Billy Joel. I already crossed off Anthony Rapp and Adam Adam's Slow Lovin'

College essays do suck (who else had to write about one interesting experience they had?). Short answers are the worst. I ended up tracing the area I had to fit my answers in on the application onto another piece of paper, then re-writing my intended answer over and over again until I shortened it enough to fit.

I got School of Rock DVD for Christmas. I've watched the beginning few scenes about 10 times, but have yet to finish up the whole movie. I still haven't re-ordered Civilian, so I put that on my Christmas list but I didn't get it Adam's Slow Lovin'

I know I'm double-posting, but this warrants its own post.

On Broadway.com they have all this stuff for the year in review, including some Broadway people's New Years Resolutions.

Adam Pascal
Resolution: "My resolution is to stay away from all Broadway chat rooms and message boards!!! They're deadly, and the kids are vicious."

*dies*

Vicious? He's DEFINETLY not reading this thread. The title says it all. Adam dear, if you break your resolution and read this, know that we love you lots.

Elphie, your writing is NOT bad! If it was, I'd be too annoyed by your posts to talk to you. Don't stress, chica. I know you'll do just fine. Chloe's advice sounds good.

orangeskittles, I LOVE Julie Andrews. She's incredible.

I can't find the article on broadway.com. Can someone link me to it? I want to read the rest of the resolutions.

Does anyone know what a Sestina is? Mano(el?) Feliciano wants to write one. And go to the dentist. More power to him.

I'm so glad there are nice people around ... cause on CB the whole thread talking about it just wound up being even MORE mean spirited. T

Spread the "lub" :)

I think if I was famous (or at least talk-about-able) I wouldn't be able to stand googling myself. I would think it takes a lot of guts to be out there in the world for people to criticize ... the good posts and articles would inflate the ego and the bad stuff would make me sad ... it'd be rough.

Haha, poor Adam and boo for mean message boarders.

Skittles, you're younger than me?
