haha oh man. adam and the spork....memories! *has a flashback*
Oh sure - I didn't mean to imply I didn't know the story now, but I was pretty confused when I first started reading the original Adam thread, that's all. (I also have the picture, thanks! )
ETA: Ponine, I remember you being on that original thread too. ::starts to feel nostalgic:: God, it's been almost a year since I first saw Adam on stage.

Oh, I was going to say - you should've asked!
I eventually read the original thread about it, I think. Couldn't believe my luck in finding so many other fans online.
PS - thinking about how it's been almost a year since I saw Aida, I decided to look up the original thread. Another anniversary is coming up, of course:

7/31 is in ONE WEEK!!!! AHHHH!!!
A very special birthday indeed! (And the day Diva sees Raúl!!)
Yeah!! Well actually, I'm seeing it on the 30th, but close enough!!! I've watched Chitty 4 times since Thursday prepping myself.
Is the bamboo pole number in the show? I love that one!!
haha, the movie? Did you ever watch it as a kid? The first time I saw it was like... this past fall. I was so confused.
But yes, Me Ole Bamboo IS in the show. Raúl is absolutely electrifyng; he can really, really dance. Gah, you're gonna love it.
I used to be obsessed with the movie, and I haven't watched it in years since last week. I forgot how corny the ending is, but you know, the movie is adorable.
Yes!! I can't wait to see Raul with the bamboo dancing!!
heh. He just looks so freaking happy when he does it. He dances in the Toots Sweets scene, as well. That's about it for the really... conventional musical theatre dancing he'll do, though there's a tiny break in You Two. He'll do a kind-of dance at the end when he's the doll, though, and the fight scene = HOT.
OMG, Emcee!! The more you talk about it, the more fantasmagorical it sounds!!
'cause it is!
And I promise after this last comment on hotness, I shall not spoil you any further! There's a scene (a rather chaotic one) where he runs into this big group of chorus boys, they grab him, pick him up in unison and help him do a big flip. It's ridiculously attractive.
*jaw drops* That sounds HOT!!
Wow, what a build up! Diva's not going to be able to stand the wait if you tell her too much more.
Absolutely, Chloe!! I was excited before, but now with Emcee going on about how adorably amazing Raul is, well, I just can't wait!!
*grin!*
I'm trying to re-locate the various links I used to have bookmarked before my computer crashed. Here's one I just came across:

"observe.... and be amazed."
Ahhh!! That's such a good article!!
I get all warm and fuzzy from that article. Then I turn into a big blob of emotional goo.
::wipes off goo::
It is a great article, though. I'm sorry I missed that show. Interesting that Raul loves and defends theatricality - you don't see that too often. Naturalism has been the mainstay of American acting since the Method came along.
*turns into more goo*
That's one of the things I really love about him; that he's the real deal, with the training to boot. There aren't many people like him, at all. You can see it immediately in the way he acts, though - over-the-top without feeling pretentious or forced - theatrical, but still with just enough sense of reality.

Fine Emcee...show off that you have a Part Two thread...
Let it be war upon you both!

I remember reading a NY Times article about him when he went into Cabaret. He obviously made a huge impression in that. It's an ideal role for someone with his approach.
*hides from beacon*
I just recently dug up Brantley's re-review of Raúl and his Cabaret cast (the first time he did it). It was absolutley glowing - I think Brantley likes him quite a bit. He took that part and RAN. I don't know what I wouldn't give to see that live.
Speaking of which - I found THE most cracked out photo EVER. It's a picture of Raúl WITH Riedel. I mean, I'd assume they were both just playing nice for the camera, and that Raúl was too nice to flip Riedel the finger as Alan Cumming had so charmingly done, but I saw it, and yelled at my computer something like "get your hands off of him!!" Un momento, I shall post it.
It's things like that, though, that make me scared to think about being a critic. I know everyone has their favorites, and it would be perfectly fine to be slightly biased - and of course, I'd never, ever touch one of my men with a negative word, but... it's so easy to take what he says to heart.
