Something you'd like to say?
You can do it! Ask questions, then he has to do most of the talking.
I think I'll start trying to come up with questions *now* - it might just take me that long. I can ask if he's got plans to perform at home, I guess.
That's a good one. And questions will naturally come up about what's going on at the shoot.
*bounces*
And, at least I know he's friendly.

yay! you are waay too lucky emcee!!! i want a full report! lol.
"Who cares about Adam??? Now tell me, is Idina going to be on today????"
Even in the context of Wicked, QM, I didn't think this was the person you cared about. I hope she's fine, though.
Chloe - about his RENT and AIDA TV appearances, no, he never did appear nervous, at least to my recollection. Even when he appeared by himself, like when he sang 'Glory' on the Rosie O'Donnell show, he seemed perfectly relaxed. Although, again, I'm going by memory, so I could be wrong .
I love how Emcee is already planning for what she's wearing in 2 - 3 months. But better be prepared, I guess. You're going to bring him the spork picture, Emcee?

You know what? I watched the Rosie O'Donnell every single day when it was on, but I was never really into theatre at the time. So I vaguely remember random Broadway performances on the show. I remember Titanic, and Kristen Chenoweth from You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, and a couple others... that's it. I think it's sad that I probably saw the cast of RENT when they were on, and just didn't pay attention.
amasis - it'll give me something to look forward to when I'm working my butt off this semester. And you KNOW I'll change my outfit like 86 thousand times the day of, regardless of any prior decisions anyway.
As for the picture... I'm tempted, but probably not. I want this to be normal. Maybe I'll e-mail it to him after the fact....
And I clearly remember all the hullabaloo about Rent and could have seen the OBC, but also wasn't that into theater then and didn't go. And could have seen Aida with Heather Headley, for that matter.
Emcee - I know what you mean. You'll decide on something, and then wake up the morning of wondering why on earth, etc. I like the idea about the picture afterward. Might make it less awkward, no?
Chloe - I've been into theatre for a long, long time, but I almost didn't see RENT OBC and went in there really skeptical *because* of the hype. But their performance was incredible, and you already know what I think of Adam's voice. I stopped breathing when I heard it the first time. I know how you feel about missing performances, though. I got a chance to see AIDA with Heather, but look at what I've missed since I moved away! My biggest regret is missing Cabaret. If I had known he was going to do it, I would have NOT left the US.
It's all a conspiracy, I swear. *huffs*

The world is conspiring against you, amasis... :-P
You have planes there, don't you?
... you know I'm kidding.
And yes. MUCH less awkward. Funny, perhaps to do after the fact. I still can't decide if it's best to keep that thing hidden away from him forever, but he might just get a kick out of it.
*raids closet*
k, a shopping trip is in order before this little escapade.
Yeah, Emcee, you'll try on dozens of outfits and finally end up saying to yourself, "why did I wear THIS?" in the end. I've so been there. Spork picture later makes a lot of sense. Once he's talked with you a little he'll know what an intelligent, sensible person you are, but if the spork picture comes out right away, it may give him the wrong impression.
Amasis, so I guess you left NY just a couple of years ago. It sounds like you're very involved with the relief efforts in Indonesia at the moment, but do you have any plans to return? (And why were you here to begin with - school?) When did you see Rent? I'd be interested in any other details you can dredge up. That is, if you ever finish answering all my other questions.
You know it! And, normally I'm really lax about clothes. I love clothes... because, well, I'm a teenager, but since I started college I've gotten really lazy about actually *using* them. I'm a big fan of pajamas all day, every day.
Intelligent? Sensible? Moi?
*blush*
Thanks. I'm going to start taking "how NOT to make an idiot out of yourself" lessons NOW. Fear not - it definitely won't be with me the day of.
Emcee - he has a sense of humor; he'll get a kick out of the picture, I'm sure. But yeah, do it afterward. Then again, who knows, perhaps he'll greet you with a spork of his own when you show up for your little visit. .
Chloe - I actually lived in Boston, but I went to NY all the time. The place I worked for has an NY office, so I went for work sometimes, and also I went there on my own a lot just to see shows. Yeah, pretty involved in Indonesia right now, but I do hope to return eventually, and New York is the preferred destination. As for why I was in the US, I went there at first as an exchange student in high school and ended up staying for college, grad school, and finally for work. I consider the US home, even though my family is here.
I saw RENT... a couple of times in '96... and a couple of times in '97... It was a good thing RENT was almost completely sung-through, since whenever Adam had to 'say' a line, it went out completely wooden. But the emotion he expressed when he sang was unbelievable. I haven't seen RENT too many times since, but none of the other Rogers I saw came even close.
lol, I think I'd die.
I love reading about the RENT OBC... since I was only ten.
I've been having problems navigating the site tonight - either it's all clogged up because of the Idina situation or my computer is acting up, as it sometimes does.
Anyway, Amasis, I gathered his spoken lines weren't so great from the Rent CD. He's really made progress since then, as Cabaret demonstrates, but even in those last Aida performances there was quite a difference between the few lines on the CD and how he did them at the end. Even something as simple as "Yes, in a way" during "Enchantment Passing Through" had a lot more nuance and feeling behind it.
Totally going back to a few pages ago but about the Seth's Chatterbox site, I went to the list of videos, and I only found Michael McElroy & Adam Pascal (wow i havent used his last name in a long time) but isn't there a second tape with Sherie Renee Scott?

It's definitely the site that's slow. I'm having the same issues, and I know it's not my computer!
Yeah, the site is definitely slow tonight.
The spoken lines on the RENT CD definitely sounds even worse than they did live. During those times in particular, Adam tends to *react* to people's acting, and so the quality of his performance sometimes varied depending on how everyone else was doing. So he probably had a hard time saying the lines in the studio, even more so than on stage.
What was always (still is) astounding is the emotional range that he has when singing. And speaking of then vs. now, even though Glory was always, always, a powerful song, I really love his recent takes on it. You can hear how much of a better actor he has become.

adamaddict - should be two tapes. One has just Adam (the most recent interview) and it will probably have someone else on it. The other tape is the Adam and Sherie interview, plus someone else's as well. All of the tapes have two separate shows on them.
And amasis - Glory... *passes out* That's all.
so you once had a conversation w/ adam about the spork or brought him a spork? would anyone care to elaborate about that or point me to the thread on which it's posted. i searched but couldn't find anything b/c there's so much w/ spork in the title. how did sporks originally get related to adam and how does he know about it? thanks and sorry for being an annoying relative newcomer
No problem... I did this, it's my job to explain it! Over the summer, someone on here was bashing Adam, and insomniak said that in her humble opinion, he could have chemistry with a spork. I was VERY tired, and said that I was picturing Adam down on his knees, singing Elaborate Lives to a spork. Someone said I should bring him a spork and ask him to sign it the following week at AIDA, and I read "sign" and "sing to." In the week that followed up to actually seeing Adam, the whole thing escalated, and I ended up bringing a giant salad-server spork with me to the show. I had Adam pose for a picture with it.
*feels embarassed*
I am so glad that it is the site which is slow and not my computer! I was getting worried! ANywho, i wish i could have seen Adam in Rent. My dad did and loved him. And his acting definatelly improved during cabaret. He was amazing! ahh i love adam!!
