huh?
o man...sorry guys ...at first when i posted it didnt appear there so i did it a second time and then i tested it to see if it worked but it was just that i needed to like refresh the site ro something...too many clickings and stuff...did that make any sense??....
Could I write CBSnews an ask them to send me a copy of the tape?!?!
Yeah, sometimes the board is slow.
And... anything is worth a shot.
Ooo! thanks for the correction of abc and also the site of chatterbox! Emcee, what's going on? You're visiting the set in March, but he's coming back to New York? What is this about the film abandoning Treasure Island??
*utterly confused*
Something may be happening with the finances that would cause them not to shoot in SF, apparently. And yeah, I'm going to visit the set for a day in March, one of the five days that (as of now) they'll be filming in New York. Just... don't mention that elsewhere on the boards, okay? I don't want a lot of attention about it.
Hi addict! (whoops, that doesn't sound right!) I have no idea if CBS would send you a tape, didn't notice anything about that on their site.
If you want to know more you should really check out the Chatterbox tapes that Emcee mentioned a few posts up. They're interviews, and Adam did two - the first was during Aida and is about 20 minutes of him, them some with Sherie Rene Scott, then a little with both of them. The 2nd is just him for about 40 minutes, done while he was in Cabaret. So that's a total of an hour of him talking. The fee for buying the tapes goes to Equity Fights AIDS, so that's another good reason to get them.
So that's a total of an hour of him talking.
And it's HEAVEN. He's adorable, witty, sweet and BRUTALLY honest. I have the Cabaret one, and I adore it.
And... *applauds BC/EFA*
Of course...omg, I am sooo happy for you! This really is unbelievable. This whole time I thought you and etheb were going across the country, but now I get it lol. Hopefully, you can get a glimpse of his gorgeous kids, see pics....don't mind me, I'm just dying to learn more of his personal life! :-p
haha, no! We aren't *that* crazy. I think it's going to be fun to get over there and not have it be a typical fangirl experience. People say he's got to "know" me by now, but this... hopefully (I don't want to expect too much and be disappointed) will be a different kind of experience - I just want to go and have a good time... however much time I do get to spend with them. Maybe a little tougher on the nerves, but... I can't wait. It's going to be incredible.
just checked the tv guide -if you're in ny or the ny area the show (good morning america weekend edition on abc) runs from 8 to 9 tomorrow morning!!!
Rock on. Thanks.
Example of brutal honesty from the first tape:
Adam describes how after Rent he needed a job and went on all these film and TV auditions that didn't go well:
"Number one, I didn't want to be there, number two, I didn't know what I was doing, and number three, on most of them they knew who I was and had seen Rent, and would say 'Oh I'm such a big fan of yours and we're so happy to have you here,' and then I would SUCK!"
Poor Adam.
I adore the second one. I love when he talks about checking the computer (with hand motions) the day the '00 noms were released, and he makes that really dejected face when he says he didn't get one.
"Poor Adam"
Maybe, but he was telling this as a funny story. That's why I don't buy the "big ego, arrogant" thing about him. He really is just honest, with no false modesty. He'll say something like he would do Chess if the part of Freddy was beefed up (but with a smile, knowing how Seth R. would react), but at the same time tell stories like these.
I know I've gone into this before, but it has struck me again. People are so used to needy performers, who above all want an audience's love, so they might sometimes interpret Adam's lack in this regard as arrogance. I've seen him do three curtain calls now, and the way in which he *doesn't* milk the applause is pretty amazing. He has a serious face and almost seems to step back too soon. It's like he didn't do it for applause, but for the sake of doing it. Not that he wouldn't be upset if people didn't applaud, but he's not basking in it, it seems to me.
Edited for typo

The more I hear about these Chatterbox tapes, the more tempted I am to buy one. Too bad I don't have a credit card (actually, that might be a good thing). Doubt my mom will let me use hers. Hmmm... my birthday is only about two months away... one can hope.
Actually, they only accept checks or money orders for mail orders, so you don't need a credit card. Here's the link again:

re: Adam's ego and the audience.... you all know what I think about the 'egotism' rumours. One thing that I've noticed every time I've seen Adam perform in a musical - this doesn't really go for personal gigs, since there *is* audience interaction - and with the exception of the first time because I don't remember it - anyway, this was always something that struck me as pretty amazing for someone who gets tons of mostly positive attention. Every single time, he'd bow and mouth "thank you" to the audience. I don't know why I found that so special, but it made my heart melt. He does appreciate what he's got.

Chloe - I've always thought that, too. It's nice that he can just 'be'. I think it's just healthy ego: he knows what he can and can't do, and what people say about his ability don't really matter too much. And this goes with his personal decisions regarding fan interactions, too. I remember during AIDA he was getting a lot of crap about not coming out the stage door enough, and personally, I think it's great that he decides what's right for him (and perhaps his family) without worrying too much about possibly losing the "approval" of others. I'm not saying that I approve people being jerks, but, as Sondheim said, "nice is different than good."
That said, I've always found his poker-faced curtain call bows slightly comical.
