Hello everyone!
Hooray for the Rent Bible! I have a giftcard left from the holidays, maybe I'll buy that...
And what's this about a cut scene from Aida? (page 668... sounds like you had some fun last night)
I've never even seen the Rent book, I guess that's the next thing to get. Here I am posting opinions about the movie when I've never even seen the show, only heard the cast recording. I'm kind of behind on Rent.

Chloe, I haven't seen the show either. But as of Wednesday night... that will all change! CAN'T WAIT!!!
Allie, I take it you're seeing the tour when it swings up into Canada. I'm thinking about trying to see it in CT or NJ rather than going to the Nederlander. It doesn't sound like the current Broadway cast is the best first performance to see.
Ballerina, all I know about the Aida thing is that originally they wanted Adam to take off more clothes than just his shirt - don't know if that was just more, or all - but he refused.
I'm pretty sure I read that it was *all* of his clothes.

Who nixed that idea, Adam or Disney?

Wow. That's... interesting. Especially for a Disney musical.
Re. AIDA.
From a Playbill Interview
Adam: I wish I didn't have to take my shirt off, because I wouldn't have to go to the gym so much. It could be worse: in the original script, I had to take off all my clothes, but I said, "Wait a minute, come on here, now."
*hurls flip flops at Adam*

*mutters something angry about another Adam and wonders why he didn't watch Eve a little closer*
Damn. If only nudity was acceptable in our culture. Those Adams, ruining everything.
See, amasis? My flip-flops ARE good for something.

And damned to hell he is, dearest Delph. They were running out of fire and brimstone there and needed him to keep it warm.
I think "warm" may not be a strong enough descriptor.
::imagining the BLIZZARD of flashbulbs going off every night if this had actually happened:: How much of the deathstare could audiences have taken?
It is pretty surprising that the original script had that. One thing I'm sure of, there's no way Heather Headley was going to take off anything, so it might have been a strange disparity.
Now that's an image....

Why wouldn't Heather do it, Chloe?

Heather's just so... dignified. Doesn't seem like something she'd do, or consider.
I don't even want to *think* about what might be on your mind.

Emcee, I know you are thinking about it. Don't play dumb.
Ellie, I'm going to need more than one dinky duster.
Ooh, whatever DID you write, Nia? *is curious* It can't be THAT dirty?
*plays dumb*
During his first Chatterbox appearance Adam describes Heather as the epitome of the good girl, Christian, doesn't drink, smoke, swear, etc. I believe she's a minister's daughter also. I'm pretty sure with that background she would never agree to take her clothes off on stage.

'We are all in the gutter, it's just that some of us are looking at the stars.'
Tsk, tsk.
