I'm really sorry to hear that, bdwaygirl. I'm with you, though; even in jest, it's hard to hear it. Especially when one has had some personal exposure, I think. I'm like that, too.
nia - I'm actually not sure how I feel about 'Lennon' the musical. Still trying to come to terms with some of those songs being sung by *other* people and being put in context of a musical. It might end up being strange.
bdwaygirl i am so sorry. I am also sensitive to the subject. THat is all i have to say.
I spent way too much time on the board today instead of doing work, trying not to think about it. Thanks. You guys are the best.

It's difficult to type this and not sound phony, but I am sorry you (a collective you, for all that it applies to) have gone through a friend's suicide.
amasis, it could be a very bad karaoke show, but I'm a bit reassured by Julia's involvement. I hear she's quite picky about projects and she chose this as her broadway debut, so it must have something good about it.
I love coming to this boeard to cheer me up. Hope we can help take your mind off things.

Ok I just finished reading the thread...it took me a week but I did it!
Congrats sum
Cam- I have had the "oppurtunity" to do Wizard Of OZ 3 times (I played the Tin Man once, the Wizard once, and I choreographed a production)
This show is so HORRIBLE after the first day of rehearsal. The munchkins are the worst.
HAVE FUN!
Bdwaygirl, I'm really sorry about your friend. Suicide is really hard to come to grips with.
Sum, that's quite an achievement! I really wasn't sure you were serious.
In one of the first Adam interviews I remember reading (a fairly recent one) he was talking about not liking jukebox musicals in general, and also avoiding shows that might be "expected" of him, like All Shook Up. I imagine he might have the same kinds of reservations about Lennon as amasis does.
Wow, sum- that's amazing! Congrats on still being sane after reading those!

Who said he was still sane?
*clears throat*
I, insomniak, hearby apologize for my idiotic, crude and sometimes cruel behavior on this thread. I'm sorry you had to see that. I swear I've changed! (a little)
This thread can sure get strange at some points.
So that's it, Sum? No comments, questions, contributions?
Of course it's possible that, having read the whole thread, he never wants to see or hear the name Adam Pascal again.
I must admit that I got to page 20 and quit but having read that much I feel I get the general idea...
Strange.... yet.... lovable? I hope?
Heh. And about Lennon - yes, exactly... the part about it being "expected" and the whole pigeonholing bit. Also, maybe as a big fan, he'd feel like he couldn't do justice? That's a shot in the dark, but perhaps a factor.
Well Sum, you missed some scintillating stuff, but perhaps it's all for the best. And it's true the general idea is pretty simple.
If he stopped at page 20, it would mean he missed a lot of QM's posts, and so certainly missed a lot of the more interesting "ideas".
But sum, I hope you drop in from time to time... I promised Emcee some Sondheim tutorials, so your contributions would be very welcome.
yes, you need to help meeeeee! I'm on "Mission Make Amazing Impression in Theatre Class," and I am enlisting everyone's help.
Thanks Jacob.. **grumble** I survived night two..
Em~ "Mission Make Amazing Impression in Theatre Class," how can we help..
and here begins my count down.. 4 Weeks all!!!
amasis is tutoring me in all things Sondheim.... any help is appreciated
Very nice.. what have you learned so far?
She hasn't started. So far, though, that Sondheim did NOT write the score for Gypsy.
*hangs head*
Oh dear.. Well he did write into the woods.. I will help compile a nice little bullet point list of sondheim for you when I have time..
yaaaaaay!
I'm working on my first "official" review right now. I really want to knock their socks off, but I'm so scared that this is REALLY being judged and not just stuck up online somewhere. A huge thank you does have to go out to all of you on this site, though, who have helped me to figure out that this is what I want to do. *hugs all around*
Emcee, good luck with your first review, and I hope you continue to write from your heart. Sometimes critics get too embroiled in theories and technicalities, which you have fortunately avoided. You already write very well, so you should do fine!
