He said that he was "superfluously attached" to Tarzan. Superfluous means extra, or not needed. He definitely didn't mean to say that he was associated with the show, but that they didn't really need him. He was trying to say that he was connected to it, but it was a pretty distant relationship, because the show isn't happening for a really long time.
Silly, silly Adam. And you could tell, too, that he was all proud of himself for using a big word.

hahaha. awww. snaps for adam!
good morning everyone!
morning!
i haven't been here for a while but i thought i'd drop by and show my undying adam support.
I guess that's true, Chloe. Never really thought of it that way. I mean, we love to joke that he's got such an ego that he'd never, ever consider something he does to be extra and unecessary, but I don't know. When he did it, he kind of paused, and you could tell he was trying to think of a really big, nice word to use.

Emcee- that is SUCH a cute avatar!! I love it!!
Superfluous... that's a great word.
Adamfluous!....??
"Adamfluous!....??"
Adam superflous? No way!
It does seem possible that he was being dryly ironic about his character in the show. I'm coming to realize that it's something he does once in a while that's easy to take the wrong way. And though he's not particularly articulate, he's not illiterate either. He's referred to the way the Rent OBCR turned out as "disheartening" and mentioned how "none of the subsequent Rogers" could play guitar.
Well, to his credit, those are big words! It's hard to explain, but just... his demeanor while he was saying this made it seem like he was just shooting for a big word and totally missed. A lot of us there thought the same thing about it, and thought it was adorably hysterical, but it's perfectly reasonable that we could've misread him.
You could be quite right too - let me know if you think of the word he might have been aiming at.
I was remembering near the beginning of that first Joe's Pub show when he said "I've never done a show where people are eating before, and I don't like it. Stop it right now." I was pretty far away and couldn't see his face that well, but he said it so straight that I took him seriously for a moment. Who says he can't act?
ha! I remember that. And people were actually afraid.
Right, he said it so convincingly that I was relieved not to be eating anything for a moment. And the thing is, I'm sure coming out to the sight of a bunch of people eating their dinners probably was disconcerting to him, and he processed that and then was mocking his initial reaction.
I also wasn't eating anything... so I just looked around and laughed.
Of course, the second time I was happily drinking a tall glass of pineapple juice, and I was so afraid he was going to say something witty... that combined with the pathetic significance of the juice would've made for small disaster.
Well, I've grasped the significance of pineapples for a while now. It's oranges that confuse me - or is it just that an orange was a part of Cabaret too?
He does that kind of thing a lot - in the Model Prisoner video when he catches himself saying "the Rent years" and obviously think it sounds pretentious, so repeats it with a British accent.
No, the orange had nothing to do with Cabaret. It's a factor of my own stupidity, really. I was drinking orange juice one day during lunch with some friends, and Just Here... came on my iTunes playlist. I happened to take a rather large gulp of it at rather... inopportune time in terms of the lyrics. *is embarassed*
completely by coincidence, mind you.

i thought there was.
Yeah, I've seen a red-faced one somewhere. We'll take that as read, okay, Emcee? But that's really funny.
I hope if he ever gets criticised for that song he doesn't back down about it.
Well, it's not graphic or tasteless, so I don't see any reason that he should have to. It's not JUST about sex; there's a lot of double entendre... which, I guess is why I didn't realize at first!
And yeah... it is pretty funny. I had a problem with orange juice for a while after that.
::is beginning to see why Emcee won't be eating or sleeping much towards the middle of March::
I guess I was thinking of incidents like this whole ridiculous questioning of shows promoting the acceptance of everyone, including gays. Someone pointed out that instead of saying, "yes, we support the acceptance of homosexuals," the people involved are somewhat defensive. Liberals seem to be so on the run.
I'd like to think that Adam wouldn't do that, but I'm not sure about that when it comes to protecting his own music.
