Lewis Black is great too, but he also is very loud. Everything is angry and shouted. His schtick is that he points out the insanity that is our culture. He's mad, and it accents his points.
I've heard people say that 'all Lewis Black does is shout', and that is not true. There are brilliant routines I've seen him do that are delivered in priceless deadpan (for example, the "ballwasher" speech). I've even
read stuff that I've never heard him say, and I crack up. In my opinion, there is no comparison between Cook and Black. Then again, I'm biased.
Speaking of Dane Cook...
I don't find him funny at all. Charming, talented, etc. But, nothing that he says makes me laugh. I've watched many of his comedy specials, and while I got a light chuckle here or there, I spent most of the time waiting for a payoff.
