re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

It's nice to think that ABC was so pleased with their work with a movie musical that they'd hold onto it to get more viewers. I've never heard the OUAT music but I think I adore it already just b/c Denis and Matt are on it.

Btw, there's a cool Denis-lovin' chick who reads this thread and she recently joined BWW and has been PMing me. Encourage her to start posting, we need a few more peeps on this thread. Her name is lilacw.

OMG, I guess I've been officially called out re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

Thanks to broadway betty for the encouragement and hey to everybody in the thread! I'm very excited about OUAM, after anticipating it so much only to have ABC bump it (I remember thinking Nov/Dec 2005 seemed so far away). I'm pretty sure there is going to be a recording, because when it was still scheduled to air in March, CDUniverse was taking pre-orders. I guess we'll hear something soon - can't wait.

What an amazing NY trip you had lamenting!

(my first post-woohoo!)

Yay, another Denny fan!! Welcome to the thread lilac. Isn't he ADORABLE???

My mom is now a Denis fan, by the way. She keeps talking about how sweet and talented he was. I still can't get over his amazing-ness.

Oy. Oy oy oy.

I want to see Charity again!!!!

re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

Thanks for the welcome hypertruffle and lamenting!

Yes, he is adorable- especially when doing his "Oscar dance" (as he calls it) during "A Good Impression". I really want to see Charity again too. Maybe I'll get to make a trip this fall. Lamenting, you might've answered this up-thread, but had you seen any version of Charity (show or film) before this?

(profile coming soon BB!)

re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

I saw the movie. Er, vaguely. Hahaha, I saw it on TV one day and decided to watch it (mainly because I knew it was Denny's latest project and I wanted to see what he was up against, so to speak) but I tuned in late and was working on something else while I was watching it and I turned it off somewhere after The Rythym of Life because there was something else I wanted to watch and I wasn't really paying attention to that anyway. I got the new cast recording the moment I could though, and it's been in my CD player pretty much nonstop ever since (and now, in my MOTHER'S CD player... my mom is a Denis fan!! How cool!) But I really want to see it again. At least just the elevator scene, haha. Denis was amazing.

re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

I saw the movie version a few months before I saw Charity. The movie was, IMO okaaaaay. I loved the show more. It was all about Denny, lol.

WELCOME, lilac!!

re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

Yes. That show was all about the Denis. The rest of it was good... but Denis was AMAZING. Love him love him love him!

re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

+ bumpity bump bump... everyone having a DENISTASTIC morning?

I'm going into Manhattan now (will hopefully catch a glimpse of Denny, hopefully with his boyfriend, hopefully holding hands... aw. I'm sqeeing just thinking about it.) I leave you with a few Denis quotes from a Broadway.com feature on the opening night of Take Me Out.

"I'm in it for the opening night gifts; that's why I do this. That's all I care about. And David Eigenberg gave a great one, so that's all I care about."

"You know, they don't watch their mouths around me. They're equal opportunity bashing for everybody--they're amazing. Everybody is completely open-minded. I've never felt a moment of kind of like, 'Oh dear.' I get to eavesdrop on what straight guys talk about. I'm like, 'Wow, if women only knew.'"

Opening night piccies!! Some very cute ones of Denny and the boy. His "boo", as it were. Hahahaha.

Still floating, huh? Lol...Have a great day in the city!

Thank you, iRuvPrinceton - glad to be here! And "hey" to MTVMANN - rude of me not to say hello before...

re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

Yes, still floating!!

I saw Forbidden Broadway last night. They were very hard on Christina, but, it's not like that was completely unexpected. It was still funny. The Light in the Piazza parody alone was worth the price of the admission. My parents didn't get really get it, but I was rolling in the aisles.

Seeing Dirty Rotten Scoundrels tonight - as recommended to me by Denis! I want to go visit the Charity stage door after Scoundrels, or even hang out by that newsstand and make him fight for his two diet Cokes ("I'm not giving you this soda until you recite that monologue from Take Me Out!") but Scoundrels and Charity start at different times tonight. re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread Oh, well. I'm sure I'll have fun anyway.

re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

You saw FB! I LOVE the Piazza spoof! Just about the funniest 5 minutes of my life. I was laughing so hard that I was crying and then I couldn't breath. I'm going to hound Mr. Alessandrini to preserve that number, it's pure genius!

The Christina number was very cruel but hilarious. It's on eof those numbers where laugh/aww at the same time. FB is the greatest thing since velveeta(? i dunno!), I must go again soon. Oh, and I was cheering so loud for the Spamlot number b/c Spam stole the whole shows idea from FB.

You're going to have a blast at DRS! No one is on vacay so I think you have a 50/50 chance of seeing the OBC, jk! Norbert is fantabulousness, he'll make you laugh until you're breathless. Have fun! For sure you're going to have another Denis sighting, the Hirschfeld is just a block over. But never mess with an actor and his diet coke! re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

Actually, John Lithgow's on vacation - but I don't really care, haha. As long as Norbs, Sherie, and Greg are all there I know I'll have a great time. re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

And I probably won't see Denis, like I said... DRS starts tonight at 7:00 and Sweet Charity's still at 8. Friday I ran into Denis on the corner probably around 7:05 and then at the stagedoor at 7 thirty (my dad's computer doesn't have a 'three' key... lol.) So I will already be in the theatre when it comes to be diet coke time, and when Scoundrels is over it'll still be too early to catch him at the Charity stage door. I tried to convince my parents to go out after Scoundrels and have coffee or something, and then we could do the Charity stage door again, but they won't because a.) we have to get up early tomorrow and get my mother on a plane and b.) they are worried I may pounce.

So, little chance of Denis but I'll definately see Norbs and Sher onstage and that will be well well worth it. Besides, Denis said I would like it. Though I will miss him....

And that was your daily way too long post from me.

re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

DRS is definitely on the list for my next trip - how was it?

Bway Betty: I guess the Forbidden Broadway thing means she's officially arrived, huh? Although, I bet that's not much consolation. I haven't seen her in Charity (I saw Charlotte, who was terrific), but I give her props for guts and for grace under pressure.

In good news, Amazon is taking orders for Once Upon A Mattress (yay!)
In bad news, it's still four months away...re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

Once Upon A Mattress

re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

lilac: Forbidden Broadway rips Christina apart. It's funny but very hurtful. Someone told me that I should try to see Charity with Charlotte instead of Christina b/c she was so good.

4 months may seem like a long time but it'll pass so quickly. We'll all be busy with school and such and we'll have OUAM to look forward to.

re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

Oh dear..well, I think to come through this whole thing with your diginity still in tact and lots of people loving your performance is having the last laugh. I thought Charlotte did a wonderful job. I had never seen her in anything before, but I left the show a fan. I saw it the first night in Boston, so I was also just really impressed by how well she, Kyra, Janine (and the whole company) did under the circumstances. (Broadway performers are amazing re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread ) I would love to see it again with Christina, though.

Yeah, I guess four months will fly by. I just want them to announce when it will air, already(!!!). But yes, it's fun to have something to look forward to.
#194

re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

I would have loved to see Charlotte because I know how long she's wanted to play Charity... I'm sure she's very good, but then again, I wasn't disappointed with Christina, not at all. She more than held her own. Looking back I'm glad I saw Christina though, she and Denny worked so well together. I remember having a difficult time deciding which one of them was more adorable. And then Denis started ripping his shirt off and that... well... there was no way Christina could compete with that. re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread
#195

re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

Denis takes his shirt off in Charity?! I gotta see this show already! I don't think I'd care who is playing Charity as long as Denis is in that day. Were there any interesting souvenirs when you went?

re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

Denis takes off his shirt??? 0.0 =D Now I have to see this show! Does anyone know when he plans to have a vacation?

On a side note, I plan to draw something Denis-O'Hare related. Though I don't know for which show (Take Me Out, Assassins, or Sweet Charity). Any votes?

re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

The one of Lola is nice. The rest of them aren't dark enough but I bet they're cool, too. You should draw Denis in Assassins b/c of the hat and the costume and the beard.

re: The Official Denis O'Hare Lurve Thread

Ooh yes!! Please draw Denny! Heehee, I'm sure it would be fabulous. I vote for... well I would vote for Take Me Out, were he in the shower scenes... but...

*ahem*

I guess my vote will go to Assassins.
