Dre, uh ... no ... I really don't think he will mind at all. It's shirttail and legs!! Oh my gracious, grab me my pills! lol No, really, I think it's nothing more than cute as hell and that it's fine to post it on his web site. I think that we'll keep this one just for Greg's web site though. Have added "exclusive" note to that page. :)
Okay, even earlier morning than usual for me so I better hit it here and grab some sleep.
'night, all!
K, after reading Kay's posts, I don't think my loong posts are that exciting, but I make them anyway, tomorrow's classes so I'm gonna have lotsa trouble sleeping. For the sake of trying to make posts shorter, I shall put all DRS-related stuff of the day here and then little other tidbits in another.
So went down to the city just in time to lose Wicked lotto. Figured I'd head over to TKTS to see the DRS matinee so I could lose wicked lotto again at night. My seat was orch q, seat 18, which is like 5 seats from the end, which marks the very first time I have seen this show and not been all the way on the end! First time I never saw into either wings, that was cool, kinda wish I could be more center but new perspective.
And just when I planned to write and laughed during the day about seeing this show too much and noticing all these different things...I didn't notice Andre was lacking his mole? I feel ashamed. And if you tell me John wasn't wearing his wigs and I missed that...::hangs head in shame::
So performance...the more I see, the more I realize such an important part the audience plays in the show. The audience seemed kinda dead at the beginning. I was determined to get Greg an entrance applause, so he walked on I cheered a "woot" clapped like 5 times until I realized I was absolutely the only one and the woot kinda went flat and the clapping stopped. Hmm, he needs a more applausable entrance.
Ehh, I'm debating, but there's not that much I can say about the performance that I haven't before, it was my 7th time, still wonderful...though somewhere after Ruprecht I got absolutely exhausted and was fighting to keep my eyes open. Finally ran out during intermission to gulf down two starbucks, then I was awake. Oh, and the audience really got into Ruprecht. After Norbie licked John, he started giggling and then John did, so Norbie started sucking his thumb to cover it but John was still laughing, but the audience was so they saved it.
By the time I was recaffeinated by the second act it seemed the entire audience was recaffeniated, and they were much more into it and enthusiastic so it was great. Noticed a tad bit of diff stuff, little teeny oopsys or changes that would go unnoticed from someone who hasn't seen the show 7 times(some of Norbie's cheoreography, the orch off w/ Norbie at the beginning of Son of Great Big Stuff and Sherie momentarily having a blank when she's getting the money from John, she went th-th-th-th-then which seemed perfectly in character and the audience laughed.
Anyway, great to see the show again and full cast and yaay. Stood up for Greg, felt I was the only one, in fact I don't think ppl stood for Joanna, waited for the big 3, oh well.
Oh, so do you guys remember I mentioned getting a poster in honor of my last day before classes? Got that right before the coffee, so I rushed to the stage door and throughout the show tried to familiarize myself w/ some ensemble members that I didn't know, after enough repeat trips, I hope to have it signed by the whole cast, don't know what to do about Joanna though...well, I'm a long way off.
So I got a prime spot in the front of the stage door, esp. b/c I was trying to get ensemble. First one out I recognized was Joe Cassidy so I called him over and he looked really surprised and shocked, I told him I saw him as Freddy and thought he gave a great performance, that I had seen the show 7 times(he suggested I get a frequent buyer discount, I agree), and when he left he was like thank you sooo much for calling me over! It seemed to mean a lot, if you guys remember my Andrew experience, I vowed to make the ensemble members feel more credited, appreciated, so that felt great.
Then a couple came out but I guess they're so used to not being called over, some I just didn't know names and I tried to hold the poster out, some I even called their names but they didn't hear me. Oh, I did get Paula, mentioned Damn Yankees, that was cute. So finally I told Kevin to help me out w/ the ensemble members, he sarcastically joked that I should look at my playbill, but said yes he will direct them over to me(at this point the ppl around me are like do you know everyone? b/c I called Kevin by his name and such, I laughed, I was like...not everyone)
Oh, so then Kevin says Rak's coming, he'll direct her over, so I was like well thank you but I know Rak(weird looks from other ppl at stage door, hehe) She came out w/ Andrew so I was able to call them both over and I think Timothy was with them so he signed too and I briefly talked to them. The girl next to me realized Rak did a lot of the dance solos, so she asked for her autograph too, I was very excited to pass on ensemble love.
Though while they were signing and I was chatting w/ them, Jeremy and Greg(softballers) walk out and I screamed their names, but they didn't hear and walked past, I was upset b/c I actually know them, oh well. Then John and Norbie walked out, and I informed them both I was seeing it for 7 times and that all performances were of the same great quality...so I told Norbie I don't know how he does it everyday and he said he doesn't either, and John said then I probably know every goof so I laughed and said yeah but you save most of them and they crack me up.
So w/ John and Norbie gone ppl started leaving. Eventually it was just me and another lady who I was chatting with for a while. She lurks here and ready for this guys...I am not the only DRS whore, in fact I think I am less of a whore...she saw the show 15 times! I told her I'm so happy to not be alone in seeing it a lot...so maybe I'm the #2 whore. Oh, and then I realized Sara had snuck out and was across the street, was gonna run after her b/c I know her, but then decided know her or not, I really didn't like the idea of running down the street chasing someone w/ a poster...
So the lady and I were talking for a while and then Greg eventually came out, she knows him too, so we're both total whores, we met Jan(I think she's his ex-neighbor or something b/c someone asked who she is...she had an English accent though, that was cool) and then we all left. So I still have lotsa work to do on my poster...
Though at the end of the night, I was walking to my car, actually passed Greg again, but pretended not to see him, he was with someone and I certainly don't need to say hi twice...but then I saw Sherie walking towards me, I was holding my poster in the bag, but of course she was gone, before I had the nerve to say Sherie, etc. Oh well.
Ooh, forgot one more thing! While I was chatting w/ the lady and waiting for Greg, Jack came out...I must have been in a crazy mood b/c I was like Jack! and he's like oh hi...and then I guess I realized that was quite loud and I was like oh yeah I know Greg and I watched the cam a lot...so wanted to say hi...don't quite remember the rest of that convo. Also realized Dolly had walked out earlier, but I was too busy trying to recognize ensemble members. Oh well.
K, that's my DRS story for the day. Wow. I really can ramble. Most ppl who discuss backstage visits which are far more interesting than this ramble post shorter. I greatly apologize guys, feel free to skim, or hope you felt free to do so before you got all the way down...And I hafta be up at 8:15 tomorrow for 3 classes. Should be an interesting day.
While I described the rest of the day, will just make this very brief. Met my friend for well was gonna be dinner but I told her I hafta go lose Wicked lotto first. She def couldn't come to a show w/ me but I had her enter for me anyway. She never entered Wicked lotto before, she was 1 for 2 at DRS. And of course, she won for me! I love her soo much. So yeah, I saw Wicked from the front row---amazing--think I'll post a bit about it on the main board. Saw Megan for the first time, she really impressed me with her own spin on the character, Sho I hadn't seen Jan. 9 and she was great both times, Ayers' singing I think possible got worse...and Rue...oy...Nard once made a joke about her taking a drink in the Dancing Through Life segment so all I thought the whole show is that she's acting like such a drunk...oh well...but to see the show from the front row, amazing! Such close looks at the costumes and details in the sets, some monkeys would pop up from right in front of me and made me jump(I was in on the right-most seat of the center which was a great view) and even DG I couldn't see the contraption b/c the cape was covering it, it was just amazing. Great end to "summer."
So you all know my story w/ school, got pretty upset hours ago realizing I'm going back, had a great friend console me for a while, but I'm still pretty scared. Very glad I had a great day today, but still. Wish me luck everyone, I'm nervous! And I'll be exhausted at this point...oh well. Meh.
wow, third straight post. So I got probably less than 5 hours of sleep, and managed to be the last one asleep and the first one up. Way to go me. I don't want to go to school. Can I not exist today?
Back from the pit sleepover. I didn't sleep at all...and now I'm off to band camp AGAIN completely without any sleep at all.
But just knowing that Greg was in marching band makes it aaaalll better.
I've gotta go check the slideshow now.

GUYS i got it!!! i solved the mystery! to quote Greg...
"Ali,
The box above the clothing rack is a booster chair for my son Aidan so my wife doesn't have to bring the one from the apartment when we have dinner in the theatre district on two show days.
Greg"
hahahahaha thats so cute!! just so everyone knows...so thats what it is!! a booster chair!
wrq--WOW, somebody's actually beat you in the number of times they've seen DRS? *gasp!* lol, that is awesome, though, that there are people who do love it that much.
you're so lucky you got to see joe again. i hope i'll be able to see him TONIGHT!
OMG...that's right...I'M SEEING DRS TONIGHT! i'm so used to saying "tomorrow!" haha, wow, YAY! *dances around*
oh, and btw, you all have a special story about the show. u know, like, john having the giggles...norb dropping the spoon. well, i remembered this from when i saw it back in july, but...during "ruffhousin' mit shuffhausen" john hit joe so hard that part of the STICK SNAPPED OFF, and it flew across to the side of the stage. and, well, it was stuck there for the rest of the act! i remember being SOOO preoccupied staring at the stick, wondering if it ever was gonna be picked up or thrown away. so, i was concentrating SO MUCH on that stick, that i don't think i paid too much attention to much of the scenes after that. lol
i must have ADD or something! well, hopefully, tonight, the stick won't snap, and i won't have to stare at it for hours. tehe

BTW: "Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, responding swiftly to the devastation Hurricane Katrina caused across the Gulf Coast, has sent a $100,000 check to the Red Cross in the name of the entire Broadway community."
I think that is so nice from them. Bway never disappoints me.

Good afternoon folks...I woke up today to find that the phone was ringing, and it was 11:30. It must've been all that rehearsal last night. We didn't get out until close to 10:30.
But it was a very good rehearsal, even though we only rehearsed act one. David's voice teacher came last night too so he, Robert, and David could work on the duet a bit more. After everyone had left, the two sang the duet for my mom, Tim, David's carpool partner, Diego (who plays the Bellhop), and me. David was of course, still very good, but is slowly losing his voice. I mean, it doesn't sound like he is, but sometimes, when he sings, he cracks or sings in a raspy voice. My mom and I were talking about it yesterday on the way home...she told me that he had better get his voice healed by opening night. Jeez, I've never heard my mom talk that seriously about something.
And, once again, I had to search all over Orange County for Diego and David, who usually get something to eat and/or drink at some fast food place. So, I went across the street to try and see if they were at Diedrich's (a coffee shop)...on the way back, I see them both walking to the theatre. I felt like an idiot, of course. As always, David teased me and said, "We found you again!"
The cast also had some costumes to try on, too, which was interesting. Michelle (Maggie), Joanne (Julia), Molly (Maria-she also made the costumes, believe it or not), and Rick (Saunders) didn't try on theirs. But Robert (Tito), Diego (Bellhop), David (Max), and Joan (Diana) did. Their costumes were great...David's looked like it was plucked out of Ragtime (which is a great thing!).
Tonight is a rehearsal for the producers-and this time, they won't be commenting on the set and sipping on a drink. They'll actually be watching for this rehearsal! Plus, there's the added benefit of the Othello make up, which will be VERY interesting.
The next time the cast and crew will all meet is when we have Hell Monday on...erm, Monday. So, basically, I'll be gone all day until I come home at 7:30 or 8:00 on Monday. Don't worry, I'll be helping out a lot.
Well, one more week until school starts. I'm sort of nervous, but excited, too. 7th grade will be a big step. The first day will probably drag a bit more than the second because I have more electives on the second day. I'm just worried about my "I have no friends" problem. I might find someone in my Drama class...who knows. And the campus looks neat, too. It wasn't as big as I thought once my mom showed me around a little at registration.
Anyway, enough of my life story. I have to grab some grub...

Double post!
Gahh school. Yep that is a booster chair, I had seen it when I was in his D.R. so I just thought that that was adorable. lol.
Has anyone here heard anything from the show John & Jen? Or have the CD? My school is doing the show and I've never heard the music.
I've never even heard of it. lol.

Somehow it seems like a familiar name, but I've never heard the music. Why not do Anything Goes?!?
Because I don't choose what shows my college does. AND I despise Anything Goes. lol

You depise it? Aw...I think it's cute.
Just a heads up to anyone who is going to southparkstuff.com...don't go there. I tried to download a Blame Canada video, and two viruses were detected. Plus, there's a lot of pop ups waiting for you when you get there.
This has been a public service announcement by gavrochegirl.
It might just be because I saw a really bad performance of it. Not sure. I'd have to see something higher quality to officially anounce my loathing of it.
If any of you are assigned or just have of a sudden insatiable urge to read Oroonoko...don't, unless you're a masochist, and then proceed...
...I'll take note of that Catherine.
Is it ok that I like saying Oroonoko?
