I'M SO EXCITED! I just completed my Norbert Playbill collection! By sometime this week I will be receiving my Thou Shalt Not and Last 5 Years Playbills. I already have the RENT Playbill with Norbert as Roger and the OBC Wicked Playbill and of course the DRS Playbill. So once I get these I will officially have all NLB Playbills. I even have the DRS San Diego program!
ok, here is part of it. Will post the other half of the day tomorrow.
yeah, my post is going to be long.
Ok. So, I got to the theatre with my parents and we all signed up for the lotto. I called Amanda to see where she was. At first, she was suppose to meet me at a parking lot at 11. She called me when I was on the train saying that she was just leaving the house. So we were going to meet at the theatre at 11:30. I called her when I got there and she said that she tried to be smart and find street parking, which failed. While I was waiting for her and my parents (who took a walk), I saw Harvey Fierstein walked past me. I was looking at him, wondering if it really was him and I sort of smiled and he smiled back. I watched him continue walking down the street, cross it and go into the Fiddler on the Roof theatre, which was on 45th street, same as DRS. So then I knew it had to be him. If I had heard him speak, then I knew it was him. But he didn’t say anything.
Finally, Amanda came with 3 minutes to spare. Oh, and I found out what the guy at the lotto does in the show. Supposedly, he does the lotto and a few odd jobs in the theatre but the lotto is his main thing. He says that it pays the rent, so it must pay alright. Such a cute guy I must add.
So, the first two names called, the people weren’t there so then my name was called and I went in to buy the tickets. Then Amanda’s name was called like 2 after mine. So, she got tickets for my parents. (Oh, and my mom was a DRS virgin so she had to see it.)
Then, Amanda and I went for lunch then came back and decided to stand at the stage door before the show started. We got there and Laura (who was playing ‘Christine’) Of course, Amanda knew her and said hi. And Andrew and Joe came by and said hi. Then Norbert came out of the stage door and I looked up at him, right when I was putting on chap stick and smiled and waved at him. He smiled back and walked across the street to get coffee. Then, we saw Sara (‘Jolene’) about to go in the stage door and Amanda, of course knew her from softball, and asked her if she could sign her poster (which she needed like 5 more signatures for). So she did and we chatted for a while. Then we saw Greg come out of a taxi and said hello to people who were waiting for him, then he saw us before he went in and gave Amanda and I both hugs and kisses. (he is so sweet!) Yeah, he said that he wouldn’t be able to come back stage after the matinee or after the evening because he had guests coming both nights. And he asked us where we were sitting and we told him the box seats near Norb’s entrance. So he left and we went to the front and got to our seats.
The box seats looked good! And we sat in the front two seats so that Norbert would see us. It was sort of blocked view since a huge speaker was in front of us, but that was ok.
So, the show started and we were going to clap for Greg but we waited for each other to start clapping and neither of us did so poor Greg didn’t get an applause. (Sorry Greg!) Oh, and we found out that John wasn’t in because Jonathon Pryce was going to be at the evening show since he was asked to take over John’s role later. So, they wanted the whole cast to be there, even Sherie who is on vacation. And so, it seemed like John wanted to rest his voice and body and mind so that he could put on a great performance tonight.
So, Dennis was on for John. The last time I saw DRS, I saw it with Traci and Dennis was in that time. He was ok then, and it was his second time playing the role. He did mess up a line in Ruffhausen with Schuffhausen, but other than that, he was fine.
The show was awesome as usual. Norb came in and smile and Amanda did a funny face and saluted him when he left. That was cool. Joanna and Greg were great and Sara did great too in her scenes.
At intermission, Amanda and I went down to the front row since no one saw sitting there. It was center. And fantastic! The women behind us were a suspicious about the whole thing, but, if you have read the thread, seats that haven’t been taken by intermission are up for grabs.
It was quite exciting and if Amanda wants, she can go into details about the show. One thing is that Greg almost forgot his first singing line in ‘Give Them What They Want.’ And Amanda doesn’t remember this, but I looked at her and she looked at me and just frowned. But he covered it up quite well.
Well, this time with Dennis, not only did he mess up a line in The More We Dance, but he completely forgot a verse and half of the chorus to Dirty Rotten Number. He started to sing it, then stopped, then sang a word, realized he sang it on the wrong note and stopped again. Since Amanda and I were in the front row at the time, we actually heard the conductor (Jan not Fred this time) sing a bit of it to help him out. Didn’t help at all. Finally he caught on. But, later, I listened to the song on my iPod and figured out he forgot 40 seconds of the song. 40 seconds! While this was going on, I couldn’t look at the stage so I had my head down with my fingers rubbing the top of my nose. Later on, I found out that Amanda had looked up as so not to look at the stage. Must have looked really funny us doing what we did.
At the curtain call, Amanda stood up for the ensemble. I didn’t cause I know I’m tall and might have blocked a few people. But the woman behind us told Amanda to sit down. Amanda didn’t want to start a fight so sat down. When Norbert was about to take his bow, the woman told us that we could stand up now. That made us furious, along with a certain part of Dennis’s performance.
So, after the show, we went to the stage door. Amanda got a few more signatures for her poster (she still needs three more: Joanna’s (duh), Greg Graham (dance captain) and some other ensemble member that I can’t remember the name of.) Then Laura (Christine at our performance) came out and talked to us for a little bit, but then told us that she had to go back in and meet Greg’s friends and that she just wanted to come out and say hi to us. That was really sweet of her. Then, David Yazbek came out. Hell yeah! Amanda can go into detail about that. Then finally Greg came out, finished talking to his friend and then said hey to us and met my mom for the first time and recognized my dad. And I know Amanda wants to go into detail about what he said to her, cause it just made her day.
Ok, I’ll post what happened at Rent and the other stage door experiences tomorrow. Amanda, you can go into detail now about the first show. Our posts will be shorter that way. Lol.
Yikes. Poor Dennis. I always feel bad for someone who messes up. I am surprised Norbert did not cover for him. Did he seem to notice? And garts to winning the seats where Norbet comes out. Kat and I did too on Friday. They were great! Okay, off I go to work on the offical NLB website stuff.
Heh, you must have been spending too much time w/ me, some of that was told in Amanda-esque detail...let's see what I was supposed to talk about...
apparently...show...yeah, I said something about this on the main board but I can't believe Dennis was just silent for that long. I mean the pit's there and goes uncredited but they're that good that you can skip to any part you want and they'll follow and most of the audience won't notice but to just silently sit there and mumble...how unprofessional. And I mean I can understand if you're an understudy and have lots of parts to remember and perform the show 8 times a week, I'll forgive you. Same w/ if it were John, it'd be weird, but he does it so much perfectly and gives so much 8 times a week, again I'd forgive him. But Dennis is a standby. He barely performs and all he has to know is that one part. IMO to miss that much of a very important song is just inexcusable.
But on a lighter note rest of show was great. Laura was adorable, saw her more as the innocent ditzy side of Christine than the vixen but that's prob just b/c I know her as such a sweetheart as a person. She has a great voice and did a wonderful job. Everyone else was great as usual, and Greg even thanked us for being so cheery and enthusiastic the whole time...quite a few moments including Norbert rolling on the floor w/ the jerky I applauded loudly for a couple of seconds and then got the whole audience applauding(that's so physically demanding, he totally deserves it!) And stuff like that. I love this show.
And I can't believe the woman behind me...I mean, the whole time I made sure to sit way down, I'm very respectful of not getting in anyone's way but I'm very into this show and I wanted to stand for everyone, to tell me to not give a standing ovation?? And only I could when Norbert came out? What an insult to the rest of the cast, I was really mad.
The other ensemble member I need is Roxanne Barlow, she was on a phone and didn't hear me.
Umm...okay, David Yazbek. He was there w/ his family talking and I was just in my head like OMG and I waited a bit b/c he ws talking and finally just asked him to sign my poster, told him how much I love the show, how it was my 10th time and he immediately loved me for that as I help w/ royalties...he said(I mean I think it was a joke...) I should get free tickets for a group I said well all I really wanted was a discounted cap but I'll take that too...but yeah. Very nice and funny, soo glad I got to meet him and just really tell him how much I love the show.
Also, just to add, Laura is a doll, I loove her! Between seeing her different times yesterday we must have talked to her for half an hourish. She's like as nice as Greg, and you all know that says a lot. Funny moment, at one point, Greg had a group of friends so was last out so no one was left but us so I decided we could stand in front of the door and didn't have to stand behind the barrier and felt cool. Anyway, Laura came back out, we talked a bit more, and finally I started laughing b/c it ended up that we were inside the barricade and she was out and she was like "yeah, can I have your autograph?" lol.
And well..I dunno, usually I'll tell you guys stuff like this in IMs, feel weird posting it, but well it was set-up...just a cute little moment where I was telling Greg about meeting David and started telling him how he loves me(b/c of me seeing the show all the time and such) but Greg interrupted and said well, who wouldn't love you? So yeah, I mean...just great moment, little things like this is what I think of when things like the divorce starts to get me.
hey, sorry amanda. I took out the part that I think you were talking about. It wasn't meant in a mean way it's just that I would never do something like that but to see someone else do that, it's sort of funny.
Anway, awesome post. will post stuff later today. also, did you say you started a post about Dennis on the board? Cause I can't find. Would love to read it though.
I didn't start a thread, I mentioned it in the "Jonathan Pryce" thread b/c someone else mentioned him there.
And well brief story but I went to Play On Broadway last night, kinda like a broadway game show. Lots of fun, till I found out Adam and Anthony sang What You Own at Standing Ovations and I missed that...hrmph...anyway I almost won tickets and souvenirs from Beauty and the Beast and Chitty, I was called on and I knew the Fantasticks was the longest running off broadway show but I didn't know who wrote it
But still lots of fun...they had the newlywed game featuring 3 married broadway couples and Brad Oscar and Hunter Foster. Hunter stayed w/ the females, it was really funny.
Also for pictionary, there was a surprise player of Didi Conn! (Frenchie from Grease movie!!) So awesome to see her and hear the infamous Frenchie voice live. And they had Pyramid, which Audra McDonald kicked ass at and Matt Morrison played too and cracked me up. Was very amusing to watch, he got kinda frustrated at times too.
And then name that tune, of course I wanted to get picked for, but I didn't, but woulda lost anyway b/c there was this audience member that knew like everything. He was partnered w/ Michael Arden, so they won. I woulda challenged a bit more as for the songs I knew I knew right away but he still woulda beat me. Ah well.
Talked to Jenn Gambatese for a while after, she's such a doll, and Michael Arden, who remembered who I was when I mentioned my Wicked shirt...he was like Kennedy Center! So Michael knows me as girl in Wicked shirt and Cheyenne Jackson knows me as girl who pet his dog in Central Park...that amuses me.
Really fun night even though I almost won but didn't.

Hey Guys.
i just got back to school.
so i'm just hanging out...i have lip sync tonight.
so i wrote Greg an email saturday morning and he hasn't gotten back to me..it kinda makes me a little sad lol. but maybe i'll hear back from him soon-ish i had such a good weekend...you can't even believe. friday night was SO fun (as you can read on page..369) and then the rest of the weekend was extra super fun!! lol it was an awesome time...but it kinda reassured me that i wanna transfer. i gotta get back to nyc...and out of tn. lol i'm just too far away.
but yeah...so im' around for a bit. if anyone wants to chat, i'll be on instant messenger. fallentuba i'll talk to anyone so hit me up!!!
dre and amanda, awesome story.
and, i'm sorry, but from what i've heard from dennis...i don't think that he is doing a 100% job being john lithgow's u/s. sorry, but, as u said, amanda, if you have only ONE part to remember, it shouldn't be that hard. i mean, look at laura-she has to know the parts for herself, christine, and muriel. as does a lot of the rest of the ensemble.
sorry, it just ticks me off because it's broadway-i would die to be on it any day. and knowing that there are people there who forget 40 seconds of a song kinda upsets me. i COMPLETELY understand if people make little mistakes, like mess up a line or forget a lyric or two. but, wow. sorry, that's just me.
amanda, greg's right. WHO WOULDN'T LOVE YOU!? i am surprised you thought otherwise. that's cool about david yazbek. he's the man, man. lol

hey guys. i've not written out my DRS experience, yet, but i'd like to comment on a few things...
Jack is such a small guy. I mean he looks kinda short on the cam, but he's like sooo small, and....pocket size.
Andrew is 1,000,000% EVEN MORE stunning in real life than in pictures.
And I was lucky and went when Sherrie was in! I got her and Norb to sign my L5Y cd booklet. YES!
Got a pic w/Dolly and told her she has webcam fans. Love her!
And Greg...wow, just he's such a wonderful guy. Yes, everyone already knows that, but...gah, i don't even know what else to say. awwwww.
Awww...I PMed you this but I'll say it hear too...I love you too Jamie!
And yeah...don't get me started on Dennis...I think I've decided against it as you think the producers would be aware of the horrid job he's doing, but I was soooo mad I was ready to write a letter. I totally agree w/ you, I always make excuses for actors b/c I respect what they do so much but the combo of everything...40 seconds of silence in an important song, the unprofessionalism in it, the fact that he only has one part and hardly goes on so I can't even say well he gives so many performances...ulgh. Like I've been yelling at everyone for asking about DRS cast vacations and such, but I thik at this point if I had a ticket and Dennis was in, I'd exchange it. For me to go that far...well it says a lot.
Heh heh, Sarah you need to write your long post too, but yeah that's how we knew who she was...saw a girl taking a picture w/ Dolly.
WoW, I havent posted in a while.
Loved reading all of your stories and looking forward to yours Sarah. You got a picture with Dolly! How cool is that. I never saw her when I was there with Dre but I agree with you that Jack is a really small guy. He's adorable.
I'm really disappointed to read that Dennis has only gotten worse since I saw the show. When I was there he only really missed one line in Shouffhoussen (sp?) and now he's missing entire verses of songs. WoW. Given that I applaud Laura for being able to perform perfically whatever part it is she's playing that day.
So, how's life living in the library Kerrie?

i wanted a pic with Jack and Patrick...but i got all shy. Greg did introduce me to Jack, and i shook his hand and we talked about his appearances on the cam for a sec. Greg was such a doll! he introduced me to EVERYBODY we passed backstage! yeah, Dolly was precious about the picture. I yelled for her as she left, and she was definately shocked that she has webcam admirers! i said something nerdy like "we get so excited when we see you on the cam!" i got the pic on Sat. then saw her again on Sun. when i went back for my tour.
BRICKA, BRACKA, FIRECRACKER,
SISS, BOOM, BAH!
Bugs Bunny, Bugs Bunny,
Rah, Rah, Rah!!!!!!!!
Hi all. Is it my imagination or is Annie missing? It was strange not having her there for the cam on Saturday but I don't think I've seen any posts from her since then either. Was she going away?
sarah-i can't wait to read your long post!
dre-HOLY SHIZ. i didn't notice this the first time but...did you say that Jonathon Pryce might be taking over john's role! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OOOOMMMMMMMMMMG!!!!
I LOVE HIM! i mean, i loved him in Miss Saigon, and i LOVE HIM THE MOST FROM PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN! which is is my OTHER obbsession outside of bdway. omg..if governor swann is coming to america and going to be on broadway...AGAIN...i will DIE from happiness!
omg. wow. i still can't get over it. i didn't notice that u said jonathon was in the audience. that's what i get for not fully concentrating on what i'm reading.

Rain, rain, rain. That's the weather right now.
Anyway, I had a good time at California Adventure. I went on my usual rides, like Soarin' and Grizzly River Run...even though it was freezing cold. I also got to ride Muholland Madness about six times without a wait because I was a single rider. Sweetness.
My grandma and I also went to Turtle Talk with Crush, and I got to ask Crush a question. Crush said that I had a "White shell with a pink thing wrapped around her flippers."
"Hey dudette, what's your name?"
"Carole Ann."
"Ohhhh dude! It's totally cool Carole Ann! So, Carole Ann, what's your question?"
"What do you like to eat?"
"Ohhh dude, I'm a veggie....I like to eat this stuff. Sea grass, see? It keeps me green, cause' I'm a green sea turtle. Tell me, Carole Ann, what do YOU like to eat?"
"Um..pizza."
"Ah, pizza. Now tell me, when you eat this "pizza", do you get the bubbles?"
"*I laugh* Sometimes!"
That was a lot of fun! What a way to spend the day!

Oh my god!
An envelope came in the mail today from Moonie! Inside, there were not one, but THREE playbills and a postcard. I got playbills from DRS, Sweeney, and Sweet Charity, and a very sweet message from Moonie.
Nothing is too wonderful to be true...
YAY! Thank you, Moonie, wherever you are, thank you!
Hello darlings. In the library for a bit. This sucks. lol
Mamie - I was wondering the same about Annie.. I miss her!
Yup Annie's been MIA at least since the cam, I have a plan...
I shall serenade her into reappearing!!
How do I live without you
I want to know
How do I breathe without you
If you ever go
How do I ever, ever survive
How do I
How do I
Oh, how do I live...
