Wow the photography of those first two pictures is absolutely astoundingly brilliant...The glorious composition, framing, the color!!...must have been taken by a true artiste.

Well good news...was at my cousin's second birthday party for the day, and she was soo cute, just had to snap pics...one of her in a tutu/ballerina costume, 3 of her dancing, and 1 when she climbed into her toy box and looked like one of the toys...which means 4 pics left! Will def finish it off tomorrow at the concert, will prob buy another one to take more. So will bring this to get developed on Tuesday!

This role includes...pics from Saturdays ago including me and Laura, Dre and I acting out John and Norbert's pose, the group photo of Me, Dre, Sarah and Sarah's friend and me and Greg making the "Andre" face..., my pic w/ Joanna, pics from A Tribute to Kander and Ebb w/ Rak and Rachel York, pics of my adorable kitty, pics from 24-hour plays...bunch of ones w/ Rent ppl plus Elizabeth Berkley and Hayden Christensan...think that's it. Very excited to see how they all came out-will def put it on a CD and add to my website for all to see.

Yaay!

Wow the thread on the mainboard about whether shows should be taped and distributed or not, sort of got me a bit angry...People so vehemently stated that it would ruin the magic of theater, and this is beyond my comprehension completely...

Moreover they insisted on proclaiming that the majority of the population agreed with them which is just such a ridiculously unsupported statement.

Anyway just wondering what all the greg threaders opinions on the subject are, I have no desire to jump into the blood bath on the mainboard...but am interested in all of your opinions...

I grew up with Into the Woods, discovered it on PBS and absolutely adored it bought the tape memorized it practically. I don't understand how distributing a tape of a show that has already closed could have any substantial impact on shows today, besides increasing the enthusiasm of people around the country to see broadway shows live.

Yes there is a magic that can only be captured when seeing it live, but that doesn't mean that a wonderful production of a show is not enjoyable and satisying to watch, thats why so many people listen to cast recordings, why are those not viewed as "ruining theater"?

And sort of interested in your thoughts gav, you posted very vociferously on the main board that it would ruin theater, but rather left it at that...I would think with your proximity to Ny being so remote and of course being young that you would be interested and enjoy seeing productions which took place when you were to young to see them, rather than never having a chance...What if DRS closed tomorrow and you never got to see the show at all, let along the main cast wouldn't you truly appreciatethe opportunity to see a legally made tape of it?...

Not at all trying to be confrontational at all, just interested,...and avoiding writing an essay due... will edit any part that people find offenseive I supposere: The Official Greg Jbara Love Thread PART 2!!!!

i skimmed throught that thread. i don't know. i'd say the pros and cons are equal on the subject really. it's like...if the theaters taped them and sold them, they'd make tons of money. but it MAY stop some from going to NY to see them. bootlegs will never cease to exist. so i don't really think it'd effect the industry all that much. ehhh, sorry about the half-a**ed attempt at the arguement. but yeah, i'm all for bootlegs AND seeing live theatre.

haha yeah just to clarify I'm referring to taping them AFTER the show has closed...

and I mean this is all really quite hypothetical because its been proven that its not profitable to tape and distrubute them at this point...

I don't think it would "ruin the magic of theater" at all. It hasn't for me yet. And it sure as hell wouldn't stop anyone from going to see the shows - it would only encourage it. Nothing can compare to seeing a show live. And for those who can't get the money to so should have something. It wouldn't ruin anything. It would add to it.

haha. alright. that's better. re: The Official Greg Jbara Love Thread PART 2!!!! well, who on earth would have a problem with that? oh yeah, and my bootlegs are what made my visit NY! so i gave someone $25 for 3 dvds and went to NY and spent approx. $450 on Broadway during one weekend. so there's my pro-bootleg arguement. haha.

Well Cat I too avoided the thread but pretty much agree w/ you. Definitely should be only shows that have closed. But even to say what if a revival comes it would interfere w/ that, personally that's not the case w/ me. Best example for me is Jekyll & Hyde. Hasselhoff was abomidable, but everything else about the tape I loved. Would love to see a revival, if not, I may be going to the concert tour version. Adored Into the Woods from the tape, saw the revival. No it's not the same as seeing a show live but i definitely prefer the live tapes to movies, it just doesn't capture the same live performance. There are so many closed shows I wish I could have seen...some like Ragtime and Miss Saigon I'm very fortunate to have seen and fallen in love w/ in regional theatres, others I've uhh...seen in other ways, and others I just have the movies. And for ones like Carousel, South Pacific and esp. Chorus Line I really didn't like the movies, but everyone told me I'd like them more on stage.

So I totally would be for videorecordings of shows being released, but I unfortunately don't see that happening.

i think they should make legal video tapes of shows. I mean, they tried it with Into the Woods and that didn;t fail. Or was that released after the show closed? I don't know. but I think they should sell them. They would make a lot of money and I think people would still go to see live theatre because the thrill is not only seeing the show, but getting in line to buy the ticket, walking to your seat, looking at the program, seeing the mistakes, (seeing John spit upclose), talking to the actors afterwards. I mean, I think people would still go to the theatre.

so, yeah. in talking about live theatre, I just watched a friend's copy of the legally made video of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged). Hilarious! love the whole romeo and juliet thing. watched it like 5 times.

so, i have spoken. got football in half an hour. might not be on till after that. wish my team luck!

Wowzers this song is entertaining, and I've brought essay procrastination to a new leverl, its terrible, Note to self: reform horrible essay writing procedures...starting tomorow!

She paints her nails and she don't know
He's got her best friend on the phone
She'll wash her hair,
His dirty clothes are all he gives to her
And he's got posters on the wall
Of all the girls he wished she was
And he means everything to her

Chorus:
Her boyfriend, he don't know
Anything about her
He's too stoned, Nintendo
I wish that I could make her see
She's just the flavour of the week

It's friday night and she's all alone
He's a million miles away
She's dressed to kill
But the TV's on
He's connected to the sound
And he's got pictures on the wall
Of all the girls he's loved before
And she knows all his favourite songs

and what a bastard? geez!

oh, I'm pissed off cause we lost our game. It sucked! but the girl I was defending didn;t get the ball once, which is cool. But she is a bitch! I think she punched me at one time. I might be getting a bruise. And she almost pushed me down...when I was defending her! whatever. we came second; overall won 5 games, lost 2. can't complain.

hey, gav wanted me to tell you all that her friend, David (yes, the one she is obsessed with), got a callback for the Phantom of the Opera Vegas sit down. Only the chorus, no big role, but this could be his big break. Got to start somewhere. So, good luck to him!

I posted my thoughts on that topic on the other board. Interesting idea with a good potential to reach many other possible theater goers. If its all legal, its fine by me. But if it works too well, the site will be shut down by the producers faster than Freddy in a girls' locker room.
Too bad its too late for Last Five Years (<.< >.>)
