Panda, I'd be more than happy to send you a tape of the parade. Just PM with your info. I would put it online but I have no idea as how to do that.

Did I think the rewrites were corny? A little. But they had to do it. I think using the word "awful" to describe it is quite unfair to the cast. But, of course, I won't dispute an opinion. So I'll just stick with mine.
Sorry that some of you missed it! Sleeping in is overrated girls!
hey, i got up before 9:30 and I didn;t see chitty. what channel are you guys on?
It started at 9:00 on NBC.
I didn't say the performances were bad. It was the song. It just sounded stupid to me. I just got off the phone with an aunt and uncle who are going to NY on Christmas week. I'd just talked them into seeing DRS and now they're thinking about seeing something else. I just don't think it turned out to be much of a ticket seller for the show.
That was funny stuff, these are the rewrites I caught...
A life of taste and class
With culture and sophisitication
pouring out my nose.
The Islands in the winter
The Hamptons in the summer,
The fashion plate I date'll keep me
hummin' in my hummer"
The cash to keep me idle,
The chicks to keep me vital,
because when I am a rich man
I'll go yeide diede diedel
Wow...I just need to take this oppertunity to say...
Traci, Annie, Ryan, etc. everyone else...
you guys are the best, soo awesome, I love you all, thank you soo much!!
Hmm...I really need to try to follow up my idea for a video to share w/ all you to make it up...some kind of DRS video, not of the show, but either at the stage door or whatever...get the cast saying hi to me and others on it, if possible a bit backstage, I mean to do that before John's last show so I could get the cast intact would be awesome...
but uhh first things first...I may just need a video camera before I could even look into that...me and my scarce resources...
Yeide Deidl Deidl??
ROTFL!!
hehe yeah something like that...cracked me up...
I missed it >< Greg! I trusted you. Nah, I dont blame him. Stupid networks. I for one who love some video on the web so I can screencap it for the site. The new puritan lyrics were...interesting. And I do agree that it was the wrong idea for a song to showcase the song. Here I Am or Dirty Rotten Number would have worked loads better but John was probably not up for it.
Amanda, lets make that video. Titles? Let's see...The Stage Door and I? Here I Am (at the stage door)!? Kevin and I? The Next 10 Minutes (at the stage door)? or how about "Rent (the stage door)!"?
Umm...er...no Kevin.
Eh we'll see, I don't wanna make a huge balloon-like thing out of it and I'd really like to talk to a couple people before you know randomly showing up w/ a video camera...and if that was the case, see if maybe I could just get some stuff from the wings, much less chaotic, won't get in the way of anyone talking to fans, no outsiders, but like I said, this was just a really small thought I had in my head...I don't have a video camera and I don't know how to put anything online...
sounds like a good idea amanda. would love to help, but I don't think I can make it into the city soon. lol.
Dre, it's fine, don't worry about it. Like I said, wouldn't want it to be a huge thing, and second, let's wait till I actually decide I'm even doing it and am looking to getting material/help before volunteering lol.
lol. that's cool. would love to see it at least. oh, would you think of filming on Jan. 15th?
Well you have a volunteer right here for sure!
Oh I forgot to mention but Greg hugged us all last night. Such a great guy lol
I dunno, I mean I wouldn't think to do it the 15th b/c it'll prob being pretty chaotic and most of the cast you'd think would be preoccupied w/ Lithgow's last day. chances are if any day would be all the same, I'd probably make it Thursday night...I always have time to spare before bowling and weeknights would prob be less chaotic than weekdays, and just easier for me to know I'll be there and just slip on over w/o making a huge deal.
Again...really this was one of my passing thoughts in my ahead along w/ ya know maybe I could tape all of backstage and put on Greg's site and better yet sell it to DRS patrons and then make money for the producers so I can get free tickets and you realize how likely that is...
MAYBE mentioning it here and already seeing the excitement may motivate me to mention the idea, but I can't guarantee. Really it would either be in the wings if possible which is really small and purposely there to keep things quiet, or if it's the stage door b/c I have such an unimposing personality I'd prob first hafta visit and talk to everyone who I'd want to be on it to see if they're okay w/ it and warn them, etc...again, I really don't know about the possibility of any of it.
I mean, I don't know if I'd even need volunteers, first I'm focusing on a camera, but I planned on just shooting them, I don't wanna see myself on a video, I'm really not that photogenic esp. on videos I'd be the odd little short girl w/ all the gorgeous, talented people but again...oy I don't even know how to overcome my unimposing personality to actually ask...for now let's just call it a very far-off possibility and nothing to start getting excited about or volunteering for.

The re-writes were a bit corny, but I did like the "when I am a rich man" re-write. I laughed out loud!
Thread jack.
I'm seeing RENT this morning.
That is all.
It is certainly a nice idea Amanda but isnt everything on stage (front and back) copyrighted?
what when I am a rich man change? I must know!
Hahaha just had a great convo w/ my friend who lives in Calif, she asked me if I'm watching the parade I was like well I did...she's confused i said eastern standard time, she's like wow I never knew I watched it tape delay...so of course I was like did you see the DRS performance(she knows nothing about it or most shows) she said she really loved it, loved the movie and I started saying yeah I heard the lyrics were toned down she said haha yeah I noticed, i was like how, you don't know the song?
she said well I realized "class" didn't rhyme w/ "nose."
Haha smart friedn you have there. Get them the DRS soundtrack for Christmas. That and the L5Y CD will be at the tops for most people this year from me ^^

hi girls, I just got home--- yes, I was working and I had a marvellous english lesson with lots of laugh. So I am not complaining.
Question about Thanksgivin customs:
- do you all eat turkey?
- when do you eat it?
- you and your mother cook the whole meal?
- how was Raúl in Chitty?
I will read the answers tomorrow, but I will collapse if I don't sleep a little.
Oh and Amanda - I love you too! But you know that by now!

Just got back from RENT. Felt the same way as I did about the show, I liked it...
As for the Dennis thing, I'm not going to take it up here. It's just sad because you see one bad night that you seem to loathe the man. If Greg has a bad night, will you detest him as well?
And, the little changes to Great Big Stuff were adorable this morning.
Well I do feel the need to keep it here b/c I do not so easily give my bad opinion, a lot of factos have to come together. I've talked about this prior in the thread but for this purpose will reiterate...
1. The actual mistakes in the performance-I'd forgive the couple of flubbed lines in The More We Dance but to be silent for 40 seconds straight of Dirty Rotten Number is inexcusable. It's a very very important song, and it takes away from the show to lose that. But hey it's not just that he forgot the words, I mean, no one's perfect it happens. HOWEVER if you forget your job is to not make most of the audience aware. I mean a member like me would know if Norbert folded his napkin differently, but most audience members never hearing the show before would not realize a whole part was skipped. But to not only stay silent for 40 seconds, to try to come back in very lightly mumbling making it soo obvious was...more inexcusable. Especially as a member of pits, I've worked w/ my share of actor mistakes--missed lines, skipping parts of songs, coming in the wrong part--but it's our, the pit's job to cover. If he couldn't remember that verse, if he just went to the chorus boom the orchestra would have followed after a second and no one other than me and a couple others would notice. I mean I was in the front row, I noticed the conductor just staring at him waiting for some kind of cue for the orchestra, but he just sat there and didn't come back in till the 40 seconds he couldn't remember were up. The combination of these two factors made that just...very unprofessional.
2. The nature of his part in the show. If John did this, while others might have said, doing it every night how could he forget, I would have supported him, pointing out think of how hard he works, 8 times a week does this show perfectly, becoming pretty exhausted in the process, etc. I mean in over 400 performances in a year, of course I could forgive flubs...though I know John is so much of a professional I know he would have covered and just moved on. Dennis is only John's standby, (well now he understudies Greg but not originally). I cannot say for him he does 8 shows a night, he's tired, he hardly does it. So to say he's so exhausted from being in the show every night. Furthermore, Laura was in for Sherie and she was perfect. Now in her case if she flubbed I might say well she's usually in the ensemble, again always performing 8 nights a week, but has to know every line to her part in addition so again, I wouldn't be thrilled but I would be understanding. I mean there's one part he really had to know and barely gone on and to mess up for that long a period to make it that noticeable and make it unprofessional...yes, I do think it's fair for me to judge him on this one day.
Could I see him again and could he be perfect? Sure, I don't know if he's ever been as bad as he was the time I saw it. But also considering I'm acquainted w/ several cast, mainly ensemble members, I think it's an insult to their hard work in the show for them to give 150% every night and for him to come on maybe...once in the month or so? and to make such a gigantic unprofessional mistake...I don't want to see him again.
And just to prove my whole thing of understudies...let me say I adore Joe Cassidy. I also adore Norbert obviously but Joe definitely has his strengths, including a strong singing voice, and I really don't grown or get disappointed if I see Norbert isout, actually last time I was quite excited. I've seen Rachel de Benect go on for Muriel and considering she looked and therefore had to play the part so differently, I thought she did a great job, great singer. I'm probably a tad biased when it comes to Laura, but she has a gorgeous voice and her too I thought did a great job. Julie Connor, I do admit missing Sarah, but I wouldn't say Julie was bad, just not at the level Sara is, I mean she's usually in the chorus in that number, so I can imagine it being difficult going from the chorus to lead of the same number.
Sorry I know this is repeated and perhaps steamed, but again if you read many of my posts on the main board about the repeated contracts/vacations DRS threads, if I do respond, almost all the time I encourage everyone to see the show regardless na dnot worry about anyone being out, the show is really great, and I've liked almost all the understudies I've seen, etc, and of course the overload of those kind of posts got me more steamed about that.
And b/c I never pass up an oppertunity to do this, I'd also like to take this oppertunity to give credit to the often uncredited pit, who constantly cover up and are ready and on track to cover "mistakes" to the degree that most audience memebrs never notice. They really are the "unsung" (haha) heroes of musicals.
Double post...was tempted to keep it up there twice as I felt strongly about what I wrote, but it's loong enough.

I am a beacon of positivity. Nobody dies tonight!
Gee, criticize me for something and refuse to read my response b/c it's too long?? Look, we've always gotten along but it's irresponsible, immature and just rude to call me out on something and then decide it's not worth it to read my response, which I obviously put some effort into. If you're not willing to follow through w/ the debate/discussion, don't start it or criticize me in the first place.
