I noticed that, too. I'm curious how that didn't affect his budget. But I'm thankful he got rid of those horrendous wigs, but it would have been interesting to hear the feedback had he used them.

"If you outsourced work (obviously a cheat), wouldn't you pay for it out of your own pocket and not use the money given to you by the contest?
AND would you keep receipts!?! OK, that's two questions but it bugged the hell out of me!"
SNAFU, it does not make him a cheat because they ARE allowed to outsource certain things. For example, S1 winner Jay McCarroll and S3's Kara Janx outsourced some knitwear for their Bryant Park shows. I have no qualms with their decision about letting Jeff compete, although I completely disagree with the outcome. Jeff outsourcing the pleating was not against the rules, but he was required to have the receipts. They are ALL required to keep detailed receipts.
"The trend continues after last year's debacle where they let the equally "too cool for the room/too untalented" Santino go through just so he would cause the much needed drama to keep this little community access show afloat. "
Respectfully disagree about Santino. Yeah, he brought the drama, but I thought he had talent to spare. A few of his outfits actually left me breathless last season (though the failures sure were doozies!) His was actually my favorite final collection in Bryant Park.
Fun season, though I wasn't as into it as I was last year. Daniel V. was such a cutie...loved seeing him there! I was a little miffed at seeing Elizabeth HasselBitch in her tartan get-up. It looked like Scotland threw up all over her.

and yet, he was the only face that I did not see in the audience of the runway show. Or did I miss him?

Aw, really? The camera panned to the pale, skinny preppy dollface a few times. He was sitting up front next to Hasselbeck.
And everytime I saw Robert Verdi I confused him with Andre from last season. *sniffles* "What happened to Andre?" I've GOT to buy Season 2!
I meant Santino. Was he there?

Oh, sorry. Thought you meant Daniel V. I didn't see Santino. Along with Daniel V., I noticed Chloe, Alison, Angela, Vincent, Robert and Kayne in the audience.
Yep, saw them.
Let's here it for the 3rd judge last night. Finally they got someone who was qualified, as opposed to Debra Messing from last season, and what's her name from season 1.
I'm listening to Tim's podcast right now.
I want more of her type as judges next season Dottie! She made excellent points -- seemed to be very observant, appropriately critical and constructive in her commentary.
Exactly. I think they're learning as they go along. Even Tim mentioned in his podcast that the mood at the final judging was a lot more encouraging to the individual designers as opposed to chewing them up and spitting them out as seen in the previous two seasons. I liked the idea of a final four. Ah, now withdrawal as my favorite reality show has ended for the season.
I am still so thrilled that Jeffrey won.
His designs were the only wearable ones. I'm gay, but I sure as hell would look twice at a girl if she were wearing some of his designs from last night.
Oh, and I think he's ****ing HOT.

I thought he was hideous. His speaking voice was very sexy, though.
I am going to commit suicide.
...but only if I can take that greasy disgusting junkie trash with me.
(I've always been a HUGE Laura fan, but I have to say that last night, I was ALL about Uli...her stuff was stunning.)

I disagree that Jeffrey's was the most wearable. I thought Uli's was, and that her collection is the one most women would respond to.
As for eveningwear? Laura's was GORGEOUS. There were several pieces where I marveled at the craftsmanship alone. I agreed with the guest judge re: her focus. It's great. She knows what she does well and she knows her client. Carolina Herrera is the same way. So is De La Renta. Nothing wrong with it. Nothing wrong with Jeff doing his thing, either. That's what we've got the Vivienne Westwoods for (though Jeff is a poor man's VW). It was really nice to see the four of them showing. I liked seeing their radically different points of view.
Well Uli's is certainly wearable, but can you picture a woman going out in NYC wearing one of Uli's dresses? It would seem so out of place.
The people that would wear Jeffrey's clothes are not the same people that would wear Uli's. My taste is more along the lines of Jeffrey's.
His face is nothing special, but I have a special place in my heart for tattooed, stylish, sexy ex-drug addicts.
I would wear Jeffrey's final dress and his babydoll polka dot dress in a HEARTBEAT!
That said, I was a little disappointed in Uli. Her final look was gorgeous, but something about the tan/silver pallet just didn't do it for me. I did love that she brought "Shut UP Amanda!" back into my life for just a few seconds. She was one of the fiercest models they had this season.
Michael...what is there to say? It was all T and A with a very questionable level of taste. Although it did look better on the runway than it did in photographs, it was far from what we had seen from him all season long. It really was like looking at his original portfolio again. Is this a good thing for him as a designer? Only time will tell.
I adored Laura's collection--it was exactly within the sort of taste parameters that I aspire to. It was classy and elegant with a shot of whimsy (as seen in the large feathered cap sleeves and that goreous chartruse belt). Her craftmanship was absolutely exquisite.
In the end, based on final collections alone, I agree full-heartedly with the choice of Jeffrey. As far as the whole season goes, I loved Michael to death...he just seemed to lose cohesion as the season wrapped up. Uli and Laura were also strong and wonderful during the whole season.
But we all know that my heart belongs to Kayne
I knew Jeffrey would win for one simple reason: the one contestant I can't stand on any show usually wins *cough*Taylor Hicks*cough*.
Uli had the best collection, IMO. She DID push herself and came up with a beautiful wardrobe.

BWAH. And see, I loved Taylor. But I hear you on your faves always losing on these reality type shows. My faves only won twice...J.D. on RS: INXS and Harold on Top Chef.

Uli DID push herself, and her designs were certainly nice.
I just can't imagine how anyone could NOT see how wonderful Jeffrey's was.
Kayne was promising in the beginning, but his designs just kept getting uglier and ugler. Plus, he was kind of annoying.

That's how I felt about Santino's final collection last season.
I didn't think Jeffrey was a terrible designer...I just thought he was a terrible human being. And that PR machine the show ran the last few weeks...OH! I tried to kill myself! Oh, I love my child! Oh, watch me cry!...was a bit desperate.
That being said, his final dress was beautiful.
PS See, I loved Marty on Rock Star...but that's mainly cause I had met him out a few times in Chicago and he was/ is the NICEST guy.

Ulli should have won. She was surprising, fresh, and she kept herself in her collection, but expanded on what we saw all season.
I had Jeffrey in 4th. I hated most of what he sent down the runway, but did like the final dress alot.
Michael's was nicely done, tho not my style. I put him second. His craftsmanship is great.
Laura was third, tho I did like her stuff alot...it was too much of the same old thing, I didnt feel she grew much.
...and I agree Newgirl...the whole home visit with Jeffrey did feel desperate, and the "will he or wont he" show.

xx, I loved Marty, too.
Project Runway defined Wednesday nights for me and last night was heaven.
I always wanted Jeffrey to win. I thought his designs were fantastic, fresh, and inspiring. He might have been an ass (though honestly, I didn't think he was that bad), but his talent is enormous in my opinion.
Michael's was a huge disspointment. His craftsmanship was great, but the style/taste level of his clothing, well...it wasn't pretty.
Uli! I really thought that Uli was going to win. Her collection was a step above everything she's done thus far on the show. The clothing had life and chicness, but I agree about the tan/silver pallet. Too boring.
Laura's was Laura. Most of it was gorgeous, but I thought it was most of the same stuff we saw all season with some extra trimmings.
And Jeffrey is far from hideous. But I guess not everyone is into that grungey/sexy look. Loved his sunglasses :)
A brilliant post, Mr Tuttle. You summed up PR excellently. This finale was a total joke.
Anyone with taste could see the crap that Jeffrey pushes out with regularity. I'm sure it will be all the rage in the goth clubs and that's the only place you will see it. That ugly as hell green striped zipper dress was pure crap. And that blue dress was a feeble attempt at saying, "Hey..I'm not all about Twister Sister". He had so many missteps in his collection that is was obvious he should have not won.
Looking at the other two (Michael was so out of his league and not even a competitor), Laura was obviously the only one who could create wearable clothes. Uli's were very nice and colorful, but unless you're going to a Paris Hilton party in Miami, they're not going to fly in NY. Laura was the true artist. Her creations were stunning.
This show has become a total joke and an unfunny one at that.
