Is it signed?
I'd be proud of it too!
Yeah, by Raúl. I went to that thing at the 92nd Street Y a few years back and Larry Kramer was signing books afterwards, but I didn't have it with me.
Em, you would get a kick out of this. I was listening to ttB the other day in the car and Buzz was with me. As we are listening, he goes "Why is that guy trying to sound like Kermit the Frog?". I started to giggle and he was confused.
But it's TRUE. Hee!
Though he should hear Adrian Lester. Yikes.
I have two copies of TNH. One's TNH and The Destiny of Me and the other one I saw at a used book store in Seattle and liked the cover. Heh.
I'm wondering, if I get to meet Raul at the benefit concert in San Francisco, what I'd want him to sign.
Buzz actually seems to like Raul without knowing it. I had said previously about him not liking Company overall, but liking the main depressed dude and thinking he had an awesome voice. He was then commenting on ttB about how he liked that guys voice (not putting 2 and 2 together and seeing it is the same guy). So this is progress. He never says good things about Adam, but that could just be a little twang of jealousy.

tink, Buzz seems to be really cooperative from all the stories that you tell - you're lucky! That's really funny about ttb, and I like how he describes him as the "main depressed dude" lol.
poor Adrian Lester
What are you deciding between, opiv?
My favorite unaware-person comment will always be my father asking my mom and I, "what's a Raúl?"
I am not kidding.
Em, that is awesome!!!! Your dad is adorable.
Buzz's best friend is named Adam, and my dad (living in FL) has never met him. So in the beginning he thought best friend Adam and Adam Pascal were the same person. So after a few stories, he was like "Tink, doesn't Buzz get upset with your obsession with his best friend?" It took me like 5 minutes to stop laughing and set him straight. And then shudder, ewwww!
MissC - Yes, I am lucky. But I also try not to over expose him.

that's so funny about the two Adams. When Raul didn't win the Tony, didnt you say that he came running in because he thought something was really wrong bc you flipped out?
What's a Raul. I love it. That was like when my grandmother asked my mom "Who is this Ray Gay anyway?" Because my mom loves reggae. My mom was like ???
Well I have every recording he's sung on, plus a Company playbill that someone sent me. I think I'm leaning towards the Company recording.
But right now I'm (impatiently)waiting for my friends dad to order the tickets, and am paranoid that they're going to be sold out. So I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much.
Heh, my dad has now progressed to "that guy from that show." He knows Adam's name -- he likes his work a lot, actually -- so by default, he's OBVIOUSLY referring to Raul.
Yeah, I was going to suggest the Company CD.
hehe, yeah, I let out a little bit of am emotional outburst when Raul lost. I'm sure there was some profanity used in there as well.

My mom is notorious for not knowing anyone's name. Just the other day she was like "whats the name of that guy you like who's doing Our Town again?"
A few weeks ago, she was like "wait, was that guy from Company in Rent?" She gets confused
My parents were completely oblivious, but they've seen Adam (and Raul) live for the first time this past year after hearing about them for ages. So... now they've decided we're all best friends. It's the worst when my mom reverts back to preschool techniques and tries to make me eat food I hate, saying, "I bet Raul would want you to eat this." We've come a long way, clearly
Once I was telling my cousin about Raul, and her parents became convinced I was professing loving admiration for Raul Castro.
My mom had been calling me sporadically throughout the awards, but she didn't call after Raul lost, heh.
awwwww, Em!
She knew better. A lot of people DID call me, but I didn't answer any calls, heh.
I think I thought about texting you but I decided against it.
I have gotten a few text/phone calls from random people in the past week or so to make sure I was aware Adam was returning to RENT. I just kind give a blank stare and thank them for filling me in with this knowledge.
Heh, I was pretty much just like "... DO NOT TALK TO ME," for at least half an hour. And then I just started ranting, more or less until I fell asleep.
I've had people ask if I'm going to see them. Um, duh. It may even be more obvious than whether or not I'd go to Company's closing show, which, yes, people did ask me.

that night seems like a long time ago for some reason
Not to get too far ahead of the game, because it really is FAR too soon to tell, since he's best known for musicals, it'd be ironic if he finally won his Tony for a straight play.
I love his singing, don't get me wrong, but he just seems to have that natural intensity for a play. I was holding out silent hope his next project would be a play.
Exactly. And me too. Two musicals in a row, and someone who's equally good in both... it's time.
