That could totally be just a rumor, or their ideal casting or something. I don't mean to get anyone's hopes up! I think she's a wonderful actress, though.

Yeah, she is. I can't wait to see who is cast

"EAU, fab report on the Sunday shindig. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous of you and Opiv getting to schmooze with Raul. Next year, if Raul performs at the benefit again, I'm going to splurge on the expensive tickets. You can write it off as a charitable donation, right? BTW, I think a while ago you asked about the name of Raul's high school in Fremont; it's Mission San Jose High. I can't help thinking that when I photographed Raul talking on his cell phone, he was talking to one of his old high school buddies, setting up someplace to go drinking after the event. Needed something more manly than a Pink Flamingo to end the night!"

Absolutely, just keep the receipt in your tax files. I'm just happy Raul was performing at a benefit that I could get passionate about..and obviously he feels the same way to make such a rare trip to our parts. When comedian Bruce Vilanch asked the audience to shout out the names of AIDS victims they knew, I yelled out mine amid a lot of names. It just made me cry.
Funny you mentioned Mission San Jose High School. I actually asked him that since I knew it could be a bonding moment . We got quite a kick to find out we went to high schools in adjoining districts as I suspected (granted a few years apart...ahem).
Was he out there visiting or did he really go just for this benefit? That'd be impressive!

go with it - Raul was feeling selfless
EAU-- I get the biggest kick out of hearing Raul talk about his CA high school days in various interviews--gotta get those bonding moments whenever you can! (Matt Castle, a cast member of Company, was born in the same hospital and went to the same high school as I did in Sacramento, and we got into quite a conversation about our old stomping grounds. But things had changed drastically in the xx years between our stints at Sac High. :) ) Where did you go to high school?
Matt Castle's from Sacramento? That's cool.

I went to Piedmont Hills High School in the northeast corner of San Jose. I remember going to his school for oratory contests and football games back in the day. For anyone interested in the evening itself, I wrote a quick review on Yelp...

oh man, i've been MIA for weeks now and look at everything i missed!
i'm TOTALLY intrigued by the whole exciting new musical discussion...especially because that means we can all rest assured knowing we'll have raul in new york and on stage for the forseeable future!
Well, I hope it's NYC anyway.
eh...good point.
'cause I'm not planning on sprouting wings anytime soon.
You'll be sprouting car tires next week though! I'm not gonna have internet access when in Vegas (I'm going on BWW strike), so one of you are going to have to call/text me to tell me how awesome Williamstown was! :)

My professor was wearing a shirt last week that was identical to that one Raul wore that everyone makes fun of - it was yellow and orange button down... in the picture he's standing in front of that weird mural. I forgot which event it was from, but it looked like a Miami vice shirt. My teacher's actually said "mojito" on it. I was like "Raul, meet your long lost brother" lol.
everyone and their mother is in Vegas this weekend! have fun, tink!
Well I don't leave until next Thursday, but thanks, I plan on it!
Hey, Em - it never dawned on me that Raul would be in a musical other than on Broadway. Have you heard something to the contrary? C'mon, fess up.

I havent heard anything to the contrary yet, but who knows
I will text you, Tink.
I haven't heard a thing, I promise. Ed's post was the first I'd heard at all about another musical, save for the fairly sketchy rumors that he's involved with Bounce. But, if it happened once, there's the possibility that it could happen again -- and we got lucky that Company transferred, you know? So I'll just cross my fingers.

Seriously. "Raul Esparza in Leap of Faith, premiering next fall at the Albuquerque Theater"
Em - you are too good to me! Thanks! :)
I'll have to hope to sprout wings and a loaded bank account. If it were to be a typical out-of-town tryout for a show for a show that's set to come to Broadway, I wouldn't go, but regional runs are a different story. I mean, when I decided to go out and see Company, I don't think many people on the outside expected that it would transfer at all. In fact, I think a lot of people were pretty sure it wouldn't.

If it's an out of town thing, I hope runs at a time when I have the means to go. I would probably bite the bullet and go if it was a regional thing... then slowly dig my way out of debt
My Cincinnati trip worked out almost unrealistically well. My dad had extra airline miles from work that he had to use because they were about to expire, and the hotel was virtually free, too, since my dad travels a lot for his job and just accumulates points all over the place. We pretty much only had to pay for the Company tickets and like... food.

No one in my family travels for business or anything, but depending on the time of year I know you can get fairly inexpensive tickets. I'd stay in a motel if I had to, lol.
This would probably be something I'd do alone - my mom would be like "you're nuts"
My mother gave me hell about Williamstown. Hell. She was fine with going to Cincinnati, though, which doesn't really make any sense. I guess she saw it as some sort of adventure.
