awwww, he is such a cutie! He apparently thinks that line "no one really likes their offspring fighting to the death" is very funny.
On a more serious note, I've seen some other Raul rehearsal footage, and he's fascinating when you watch him work; silly or not.
Hehe, Em. I thought that something else probably caught his eye that made him laugh at that part, but maybe it was just the song. I'm impressed that after the flub he just jumps right back into it, though. I'm the kind of person that gets totally messed up by something like that, especially if it involves singing.
There's an interview somewhere where he talks about being amused by that line. heh.
It's really amazing that he can just pick out such a high notes, out of nowhere like that.
I love that such a substantial amount of my posts in this thread begin with "there's an interview somewhere..."
I know that's not too helpful. heh.
It's on his second Chatterbox appearance, because he and Seth joke about how it's maybe 60/40 about parents who don't like their offspring fighting to the death.
*pokes whoever it is that sends out the Chatterbox DVDs*
I do the same thing, Em. He's just done so many that occasionally it becomes hard to remember where you read/heard something he said.
hehe, I watched again.

Yay Chess! I love those Chatterboxes... I've watched them way too many times.

Changing the topic a bit, I just watched that recording of Raul singing "There's A Sucker Born Every Minute." It's the first time I've seen him, recorded or otherwise, legal or not, perform anything, and WOW. His singing (roaring the final note, aah!), his dancing (nice little bit of hoofing, and oh, that hip action), his characterization - he made one hell of a showman. He must have the crowd eating out of his hand (FIGURATIVELY, guys! ). Again, wow. Just...wow.
I think I'll watch that Chess rehearsal now, too!
I have such love for that final note. He did the same thing at the end of Simple Joys, which he sang the year before... just this... giant growly... noise. On pitch!
What I really like about his performances at stuff like this is that even though it's a concert and he just has to get up there and sing a song, he characterizes them. Like, he didn't just sing the song, he played P.T. Barnum. He could very easily just stand there, belting and looking cute.

Yes! I've heard a recording of him singing Simple Joys (saved it onto my computer, of course), and I love it.
The Chess rehearsal was so cute - laughing at his own mistakes, that's always good. But other than the little blunders, his performance was wonderful; I'd be thrilled to see something of that caliber in the actual show. *shakes head* What a performer.
Simple Joys is one of my favorite Raul performances, I think. I have the broadcast on VHS, and he was great. It was the first time I saw him sing!

Mandi I really like your avatar! Anyone know when a cast list will be announced for Company?
The entire Cincinnati cast has been given offers to stay for the transfer.
In the nonexistant song I'm listening to now, Raul sounds a leeeeetle like a sheep. Or a goat.
Is that better, or worse, than Kermit?
I was listening to Time Warp earlier.
BUMPing to say that I finally watched the "Sucker" song.
Raul needs some love. He's been neglected for two whole days!
