It'll be sad if he doesn't do it... especially with the Hal Prince theme.

Posted: 6/17/06 at 1:05amHa. I was just thinking about that ATW interview where Raul talked about the audience leaving and remarking "that wasn't very good" and how he wanted to reply "Well, you weren't very good either!" hahahahahaha...God, I love that snarky emotional talented man...

I think Raul is AMAZING but his best performance was in Taboo...!!
I loved that show!
I have it on DVD {The Closing Performance}
He's Coming Back in something and I'm VERY EXCITED!

Chrysanthemum, that is my FAVORITE part of the ATW interview. The "well you weren't very good either!" part.
I'm glad he's finally going to be in a Broadway show that gets amazing reviews; The Normal Heart did, but it wasn't Broadway -- and we know he's done enough Broadway flops, so Company is a good, good thing. I mean, not only did the Cincy reviews make verbal love to HIM, but they were pretty much all over the show.
heh.
Agh. I wish he um, wasn't sick when I saw Taboo. Not that Donnie was bad, but... meh.

Posted: 6/17/06 at 12:31pmI love that part of the ATW interview as well. I think that my favorite part is when he slumps down in the chair impersonating the bored audience member. And when Billy Crudup says, "Are you belligerent at the curtain call?!"

Posted: 6/17/06 at 7:26pmLOL; he's belligerent even NOT during curtain call! I will never stop being amused by the story about the sleeping guy at The Normal Heart. Seriously, what Raul did takes a lot of balls.

I'm watching it now, since the link is so conveniently posted here.
This is only my second time watching it all the way through. Raul's hair is funny and his eyes are bugging out, but on a very serious and respectful note, every time I read or listen to or watch an interview with him, I am so taken by his intelligence and how absurdly, beautifully articulate he is.

hee, he is adorable.
They're talking about some stuff I was mentally wrestling the other day, with regards to reviewing and differentiating acting choices (I'm so tired, I messed up and typted "actoring" -- oh God!), from directing choices, from the way the work is written, or what the writer says he wants. David Hyde Pierce makes a really helpful point in saying that that simply *isn't* the point, because the question is, more than which is good and which is bad, how they all work together. That's just interesting to me in light of the fact that I just saw a play that had actors who were obviously capable, had decent writing, and was directed by someone who is known to be a good director; yet, the three didn't mesh.

I've never heard that story. What did he do?

Ha. In Hedwig, Michael Cerveris would get a coke from the bar and sit it down in front of the person who was asleep. It must be so liberating to do stuff like that. I mean, what can the audience member do about it? Other than leave, absolutely nothing.

Ha, it must be fun to be able to freely taunt people. Cabaret was good for that, I guess. Adam liked to tickle people. I wanted him to tickle me. Badly.
aww, Cactus!

Can't believe how far back I had to dig to find this...
Anyway, "Hair" is playing once again on AccuRadio (I love how you can replay songs on that site
), so...yeah. I felt the need to post here.
I love this song...the belting, the roaring, the vibratto! I doubt there are many actors who could send chills up my spine with worlds like "bangled, tangled, spangled and spaghetti'd!" Okay, sooner or later, I'm buying the recording. (That's a fairly bold statement from me; I hate buying anything.)
I've actually watched that ATW interview; Raul struck me as extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his work. The questions about actor/director dynamics, or actor/writer, were particularly interesting; I've often wondered about that - typically, how much control does the director have? How much freedom does the actor?
Plus, how can you not love Raul's excitement over Chitty? Speaking of which - thanks, Chrysanthemum, for posting the picture. He's so darn cute as Caractacus. *pets* *blushes*
