How does playing instruments emphasize the weaknesses of the book? You play instruments in song. I could see him saying the staging would point them out, but he apparently liked the staging?
Hm.

His facial expression is brilliant. He looks totally alarmed.

I made it my desktop background. I haven't yet decided if I'm freaked out by the bug eyes.

I think the idea for the picture probably was that they were caught in the act, but it took me a while to figure that out since they look so posed (and kind of freaked out). Bracing against the wall would probably have made more sense (though be less photogenic, so perhaps I'm projecting).

Posted: 12/13/06 at 11:38amIt looks very posed. I kind of wish he had her nailed against the wall or something, it would've been sexier. They can't have been in the act like that. They'd fall down the steps!

Posted: 12/13/06 at 3:37pmMaybe they were warming up. I mean, you can't perform unless you've warmed up. Right?

That definitely made the day better.
I had my Spanish oral exam today, and I talked at great length about Raul and Company. My teacher was quite happy because he's also Cuban, so that went over very well (and my fluency tends to shoot up when I talk about Raul.)

I saw Company today. Front row, center. Very nice. It's such a good show and he really nails it. I NEED that cast recording, but I'll be in Italy until June. I wonder if some online site can ship it to me? I bet they could. Ok...yay!
Sorry, my mind is a-rambling. Now back to my 20 page paper on Jane Eyre...

A cast recording for this show would be BEYOND amazing.
In fact, I think it would be worth it just to hear 'Being Alive' again...
Excuse me while I change my avatar photo to something sexy.

Cute pic! I saw Angel's understudy, too. She's got a great voice, and I liked some of her choices and could see the probable reasoning behind them, but overall I really missed Angel's adorably exhuberant approach to Marta.
A poster that went up recently:
Yay Raul.

Posted: 12/25/06 at 7:56pmYay cast recording!!! And wow, I wonder what it's like for Raul to see that poster every day?
#4197the official raul esparza thread
Posted: 12/25/06 at 8:35pmHe swears he doesn't read reviews, for completely legitimate (if sort of unexpected) reasons. But you can't really miss that thing on your way into and out of the building. heh.

Posted: 12/25/06 at 9:30pmFor real, lol. This reminds me of the cute thing he said at the stagedoor last Tuesday: He was using someone's sharpie and then needed to use it again and he said "I was thinking of carrying one around, but oh god, how conceited would that be?" hehe. Is it really considered conceited when there is a HUGE poster by the door and everyone wants your autograph?

Heh! He said a variant of that exact Sharpie thing the day we were there. And then "But what if no one wanted my autograph?" and mimed like, coming out all eager to sign when no one was interested. It was adorable.
SO excited about the cast recording.

Duh, the obvious solution is that you put it in your backpack. Then, when an adoring fan realizes that he or she has forgotten a sharpie, you can heroically whip it out and save the day!
I really hope the release date is true!
