Do they give an exact date? It could be oversimplification for the sake of indicting the system -- the system that allows him to still be sick and allowed his friends to die.
oo part 2! so cute!
I'm reading Angels in America now, but I didn't want to watch the miniseries until I finished reading the plays. I'll probably rent it when I go home for spring break or something.
I feel like Larry Kramer could have gotten the science right if he wanted to, since he was actually going through all this himself.
It amazes me that he's still alive. I really don't want to think about what's going to go down in the community when he dies.
I reread the hospital parts when I was at lunch, and ultimately I think I was definitely exaggerating about them seeming dubious. I just wasn't aware that there had been a retrovirus engineered to (theoretically, though it obviously didn't work) detect and klll HIV-infected cells. I'm tempted to do some research on it, hmm...
As to the time frame, the play was performed in 1992, so I just sort of assumed that it described events in the few years before that, which could be totally not true. I have no idea.
I agree, Em...
The miniseries was really good. I'll have to read the books over the summer.
Right. I knew it was produced around '92, I just wasn't sure if it was current at the time.
It'll probably never be revived.
It has to have been set after '89 given the presidential administration referenced.
True. I haven't read it in a while.

G! How are you liking school and such?
Not to steal G's thunder, but I have a quick Cincinnati question. For those of you flying into the city, what airport are you guys flying into?
The Cincinnati airport -- the one that is actually in Kentucky, or something. But if you fly into ANY other airport in Ohio (Dayton is close) it's way cheaper.

Oh, Jesus. That can't be true. Can it?!
I don't think so! But I was laughing at the post, not the comment. What he said isn't really that funny.
*falls out of chair*
I seriously hope that person was attempting sarcasm. Sondheim could learn something from Chitty? Now, I like the show and all, but WHAT?!?
It could be true. Maybe Raul was smoking whatever it was he had before he took that picture with Adam at the Hair concert.
He can learn about flying cars from Raul when they play cards together.
Hehehe, that defintely had me stifling laughter so that my roommate wouldn't think I was (too) insane. I didn't manage to hold it in, though.
Chrysanthemum, the story about your nephew is adorable.

I miss you guys!
School is great. I moved in on the 26th. I still haven't met my roomates, though. I have two. But they didn't move in until yesterday and I have been gone since then. I've been hanging out with some of my Chitty friends. I'm actually at their house right now watching TV.
I'm supposed to go on a date tonight. I met a guy on my frist day school meeting and he asked for my number and asked me out tonight. But it's a MONSOON oustide. I kind of want to cancel. :X Does that make me a bad person? Hahaha!
I have no idea where I'll be flying into for Company. I still need to buy my plane ticket. I'm sure it will be the place Em is talking about, though.
I love all of the Raul lovin' on this thread! I haven't seen a lot of those pictures!
Nah, just reschedule. You lucky girl, you met a guy on the FIRST day of school?

So glad to hear things are going good, G! LOL! And have fun on your date!
I've decided to bust up the piggy bank and go to Cincinnati. I'm leaving on Saturday, the 25th of March and coming back Monday, the 27th. That way I won't miss any rehearsals for Anything Goes. I think I'll just fly into the airport that's in Kentucky. I looked at prices to Dayton, and though they are cheaper, it cost 110 bucks for a transfer into Downtown Cincinnati. Which about evens it out. So at 300 bucks for an airline ticket, this is by far going to be the most expensive birthday I have ever had. Ah well, you only live once. And this *is* a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Bumpbumpbump!
I liked TNH better than TDOM, but my brain isn't functioning properly enough for me to explain why at this moment.

Funniest stage door stories? I'm confused...
The thread of that title on the main board, Shiksa. There's a fun post about someone seeing Chitty and meeting "Raoul."
