Thank you all for listening to my gushing, and moreover for insisting that I at least try to say hi to him after ths show. I honestly probably wouldn't have otherwise.
Ooh, I need to catch up on the Broadwaysecrets drama, I see.
I submitted one, and mine's REALLY obvious.

Ashley, I'm so glad you enjoyed the show so much and got to meet Raul. And heh, I totally thought of you when I saw the Lion King/Ragtime broadwaysecret

I feel stupid for having no idea which is yours!
Listening to Raul gushing is never a problem.
Well, unless it's from freakish fangirls, but that's... rare. I'm so glad you met him! (And caught him in a really sweet mood!)

Hee, I saw that too and thought about sending you the link to show you. But it's a rather common view, so I didn't assume it was you from the beginning.
Glad you had a great time, Ash! I was literally excited FOR you earlier. Like "OMG, she's seeing RAUL!"

#12 on Broadway Secrets has me intrigued, and insanely jealous! LOL
And I agree about Ragtime. Damn the Lion King!

Thanks, skittles.
It's definitely something I'll never forget.
I thought I told more people that I was making a really obvious secret, and if you had known about my complete lack of artistic skills it wouldn't have been too hard to pick out.

Posted: 4/2/06 at 3:20amMe three. I've been like.... analyzing it for clues, but honestly I could see it applying to a few different leads in recent shows.

I'm pretty sure that she is.
Did you get a picture with him, Ashley?
#1789To great talent...
Posted: 4/2/06 at 7:21pmNo, I didn't. I wish that I had, but I didn't really think about it at the time. Originally my thinking was just to ask for him to sign something so as not to be too imposing if he was in a hurry. I think he would've been great about it, but I wasn't prepared to ask for one.

I'm sorry this is so long, but, well, it's Raul, lol:
I saw Company today (thanks sweetestsiren for thinking of me)!!! It was amazing (of course), and I met Raul!
Basically what happened was me and my friend hung out in the lobby and she spotted him first, and he went to talk to his friends so we waited around because we didn’t want to interrupt. We overheard (we weren’t eavesdropping, but it was really easy to hear) him talking about how he had food poisoning right before opening night of Company. My friend was facing him and apparently Raul did some sort of funny gestures pretending to throw up, lol. After about 20 minutes other people from the cast came out and I got autographs from Leenya Rideout and Angel Desai. Then these two guys talked to Raul when he was finished with his friends and talked about Taboo for a bit, then Raul turned to me and I was like “…” and then asked him for an autograph. My very first instinct was fear- I almost didn’t say anything at all (like when I met Anthony), but then I got it together and was like “You were amazing”, and when he saw that I had my tick, tick…BOOM! CD booklet for him to sign he made the most adorable little sound and said “Ooo! Ticktickboom!!!” And my sharpie was being mean so I said “Oh, my pen doesn’t work” and he said that it was okay and he like took a bunch of time perfecting it and signed it “Raul E. Esparza, “Jon”” and said that “I think that’s how I used to sign it then”. I then called him short. *headdesk* Here is how it went:
Me: “Wow, you’re like as tall as I am!”
Raul: “Yeah, people are always telling me I’m short”
Me: “I mean, it’s not a bad thing, I’m just surprised”
Raul: “I always hear that I look bigger on stage”
Me: *stupidly* “That’s ‘cause you are so great!”
My Friend: *much more sane*: “It’s probably because you have such a great stage presence.”
Anyway, I think he said “Thanks” and then I asked for a picture and someone took one of Raul, my friend, and I together- and can I take this moment to fangirl and say his back was so soft… it was the suede coat, but still- soft, lol.
It was an amazing experience and I will have the picture probably Easter weekend because I have to take pictures of Anthony and Adam next weekend :) I feel so blessed.

Why do these men thinkpeople want to hear about them throwing up? (I saw Company the night after opening, so maybe he was still feeling under the weather.)
His height is surprising, but he's still a good half a foot taller than me.
He's so cute.
He likes soft coats. :)

Food poisoning. That would explain it.
Glad you had a great time! (P.S. it's Angel Desai) And trust me, calling him short is MUCH better than what I said to him.

Oops, that was a typo, I will fix it! Yes, his coat was very soft. And I was honestly shocked at how short he is, lol. I'm 5'4- I'm not used to having grown men being my height (maybe like an inch taller). Although the best part of that whole conversation was that his eyes never left mine
.

He's like 5'6", right?
Wow, you didn't get the wandering eyes!
