^^That's a big number. Not that you're biased, or anything.
My teachers like to do that, too, and I'm still in high school! Oh, boy.

I love how they're all drinking coffee. What, did the Playbill people barge in there at 7am or something?
*likes the scruffyness*

I like him best scruffy. I think. Hell, I like most men scruffy.
I don't really like his hair that short, but it'll grow by March.
skittles, it was probably like... noon. Actors don't get up at 7 a.m.

Yeah, I thought of that after I posted it. The theater world's perception of "early" is a bit distorted, what with the way actors whine about having to wake up early to do matinees.

Last night I heard some big wigs at Sweeney talking about Company. They think it's surely on the road to Broadway. "Especially with Raul!", they said. Haha.
I hope, I hope!

That would be awesome if it did happen. But do you think they would want to have 2 Sondheim shows with very distinct, very similar direction be running at the same time- or at least so closely together? I would never expect for it to be a financial hit (it IS Sondheim) but I think in terms of critical success, it'll just be seen as trying to "copy" Sweeney and people will write it off because of that.
Who knows; I'm just thinking outloud. None of us have seen Company (yet!) so we don't know just HOW similar John Doyle will make them.

If John Doyle makes them too similar, the I doubt that it will come to NY. Like skittles said, people would write it off as being too much like Sweeney. I still have hopes for it to come here, but I don't know how realistic it is.

Posted: 2/4/06 at 1:12pmWell, I'm glad they say "especially with Raul!" I mean, honestly, rising star and "it" director... I think they have a shot. Since the first revival wasn't a huge success, maybe they'll want to go a different route for this one, if on B'way.

That is REALLY exciting that people are so confident in it. I really hope it does transfer--it sounds like Raul is overdue for getting to do a Sondheim show on Broadway.
Aww, I love that picture.

I really think they are going to be vastly different. I mean, they have to be. They are two different worlds. I personally think it could work. Financial success? Maybe not. But I'd love to see two Sondheim shows on Broadway at once.

Posted: 2/4/06 at 3:02pmWell, it can't possibly cost that much to produce, can it? Sweeney has already almost recouped, and it'll definitely be running for a while (especially after the Tonys). Especially if there's an open house, maybe it has a shot.
#223re: The Official Raúl E. Esparza 'Spread the Love' Thread, part two
Posted: 2/4/06 at 3:17pmI'm sure there would be a house available. There are 40 Broadway theaters and only about 25 Broadway shows running right now. Not to mention that due to the lack of orchestra and most likely simplistic staging, the production itself doesn't put too many limitations on what theater can be used.

#224re: The Official Raúl E. Esparza 'Spread the Love' Thread, part two
Posted: 2/4/06 at 4:36pmThat makes sense. I thought I recalled reading something or other about there being a bit of a theater crunch for next season, but I'm sure that's only for really large shows. So, even better.

Sorry to inject some randomness... but the "Find Me Guilty" trailer is up at movefone. It looks interesting, and Raúl's in it! I don't want to spoil anything by telling you all what happens in the trailer... it's interesting though.
