I'm sooo excited!!! I'm a huge Olympics fan, and the Winter ones are my favorites!!!!
Why the hour long wait for the ceremony to actually be broadcast, though? I want to see the whole thing!

It will be interesting to see North Korea and South Korea march in together.
If they EVER start showing the parade.....

Oh no! 'Being Julia' is on one of my HBOs.
Tell me if the ceremonies begin. I'll switch to NBC only then.

Posted: 2/10/06 at 9:12pmHarris ought to get himself one of those cow suits.
re: The Official Torino Winter Olympics Thread#40
Posted: 2/10/06 at 9:12pmI do believe this ceremony is the most random thing I have ever seen. I'm loving the dancing cows, however.
re: The Official Torino Winter Olympics Thread#41
Posted: 2/10/06 at 9:12pmUm, I thought that in Winter they had the parade of countries at the beginning. Are they not broadcasting that??!!
re: The Official Torino Winter Olympics Thread#42
Posted: 2/10/06 at 9:13pmI guess I saw them live if you're all watching them now. They didn't cut for commercials.

was thinking of Harris as well.
timote - can't remember if it was Edinburgh or Torino where I first saw Timote Shapoo in the drugstores.
re: The Official Torino Winter Olympics Thread#44
Posted: 2/10/06 at 9:14pmThis is America, Snowbird. We're all about the commercials.
re: The Official Torino Winter Olympics Thread#45
Posted: 2/10/06 at 9:15pmwhat a load o'crap. I love the Olympics but every 4 years the opening ceremonies become more outlandish and ridiculous. Bring em in, light the cauldron and be done with it.
re: The Official Torino Winter Olympics Thread#46
Posted: 2/10/06 at 9:17pmYou're right Bluemoon. The majority of the stations I get are American, so as I was watching on a Canadian channel I was questioning where all the commercials were.
re: The Official Torino Winter Olympics Thread#48
Posted: 2/10/06 at 9:27pmOk, the skier is pretty damn neat.

I used to love the Olympics so much. I'd stay up for hours - every night - and get so wrapped up in sporting events that on any other day I'd probably ignore. Unfortunately that love started diminishing after they opened the Olympics to professional athletes. The first time I saw an all pro NBA team swaggering into the Olympic stadium, I started to get nauseous. Each year as more and more Olympic athletes start pulling in multi-million dollar contracts with sports clothing and supplies manufacturers, the interest becomes less and less. I'd give anything in the world to get that old excitement back but I know it won't ever happen.
(Addy - did you notice those waltzers had pink crinolines under their skirts? It looked cute.)
