Posted: 2/10/06 at 10:36pmI do think Apolo is adorable, but I'm so freaking old that every single one of these young male athletes looks luscious to me. Please don't judge me too harshly!!!!

There's one thing you can say about those hats. They proved to be very democratic - equally unattractive on everyone, without regard to race, creed, or color.
Who in the world decides on these things? Who in the world would design something like that?

Where oh where is the obligatory Wildhorn skating song?
We are sitting here watching & waiting for one of his little compositions to be blasted through the loudspeakers. This Is The Moment would fit the mood perfectly
We are big Wildhorn fans

I liked the white coats with the lime-green scarves, myself.
My lord Sophia Loren looks better than she did when she was young!
Yay women of the 8 continents...and a Nobel Peace Prize winner to boot! Not to mention Susan Sarandon, that wonderful American left-wing activist!!!! And Isabel Alende, the Literary Anarchist.

Posted: 2/10/06 at 11:32pmas for the snowboarders outfits, from when they were practicing today PINSTRIPES!! how awful they looked. Pinstripes do not work for Shaun White. Antti Autti (is that right) is lucky because he gets pretty much straight up blue which, no matter what trick they're doing will look better than pinstripes!!

My husband had to excuse himself because he was overcome with emotion just now. He had to get himself a handful of tissues.
First he said, "The message is pretty clear here. Look at the women they have carrying the flag...the WOMEN." (He is more of a feminist than I am, my husband is.)
The 2 of us are sitting here sobbing after Yoko and Peter Gabriel. (Okay, take your potshots, people. We don't care.)
He says that rendition of "Imagine" reminded him of "Give Peace a Chance" on the Smothers Brothers. (He's even older than I am!)
Peter Gabriel and John Lennon are the two most influential pop-songwriters on my life. I hope this program ends soon because we're going to be complete done in by the time it's over.

Posted: 2/10/06 at 11:53pmpavarotti sounded amazing...didn't he retire from the public eye? (if he wasn't lip syncing)
re: The Official Torino Winter Olympics Thread#95
Posted: 2/10/06 at 11:56pmI didn't think he was lip syncing because I thought I noticed a slightly less powerful final note! I mean, I don't care-he's brilliant.

Posted: 2/10/06 at 11:57pmMarianne Williamson was just on The Olympics! This is amazing.

Posted: 2/11/06 at 12:00amhmm...if they got Roberto Bolle to dance, they should have gotten Alessandra Ferri too...the other famous Italian ballet dancer.
re: The Official Torino Winter Olympics Thread#99
Posted: 2/11/06 at 12:05amyep, I LOVED the ceremonies. So much of it was Fellini-esque!
