Very happy for Cuaron as well. He made a tremendous film that reminded cinema-goers that the movies can still thrill in a way that no other medium can. And, also, let's please celebrate the fact that he is THE FIRST Latin American director to win the Oscar. I thought it was a touch disrespectful for the audience not to stand up for him. It seems they nearly always stand on cue for whomever wins the Best Dir. Oscar. I wonder if it's because some are dismissive of a "sci fi" film. Or maybe they were all 12 Yrs a Slave fans.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
Carlos and I have found common ground. I thought Matthew's speech was great. But people on Facebook are hating on it, too. Anyone care to elaborate on your displeasure for the speech?
