Posted: 3/2/14 at 11:39pmVery happy for Cuaron as well. He made a tremendous film that reminded cinema-goers that the movies can still thrill in a way that no other medium can. And, also, let's please celebrate the fact that he is THE FIRST Latin American director to win the Oscar. I thought it was a touch disrespectful for the audience not to stand up for him. It seems they nearly always stand on cue for whomever wins the Best Dir. Oscar. I wonder if it's because some are dismissive of a "sci fi" film. Or maybe they were all 12 Yrs a Slave fans.
