"She's still the Divine Miss M."
Fair enuf. It just struck me as an oddly paternalistic way to refer to such a...Grand Dame of stage and screen.
But it was a silly quibble. I withdraw it.
I'd rather people focus on belittling McConaughey's rambling speech...

Aww, Liza wanted to get in on the group selfie.

Hate when they do this ****. I think there's a new whiskey commercial with Frank Sinatra out right now as well.

Posted: 3/3/14 at 1:03amOkay. I love Liza (that's obvious). But that picture is very sad, StageManager. I feel sorry for her. She's definitely on the outside looking in.

That's okay, Grumpy Cat had to be selfish to get in the way.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! StageManager2, stopppp!! That picture has me weak with laughter!!! That's so sad. Poor Liza. LOL!
I actually thought it was a nice touch that Matthew M thanked God. If that's who he believes got him to where he is, then so be it!
Overall, there were no real surprises. Happy for Lupita. Happy for 12 Years a Slave. SOOO happy for Frozen and Let It Go! The sets were on point. The background music was glorious. Ellen made Twitter history. No one's outfit was horrendously bad. I think the majority of people looked great.

Posted: 3/3/14 at 1:34amI know The Great Beauty is perhaps one of the most critically polarizing of the films nominated but a Toni Servillo-led/Paolo Sorrentino-directed film winning is downright delightful. Cannot wait to see it.

Posted: 3/3/14 at 4:45amI found it weird when Will Smith walked out to present Best Picture -- he just seemed like the wrong choice and where was Ben Affleck? He won last year -- he should have presented that award.

Just caught most of the show.
Jared Leto's speech, though a tad long, was almost the perfect Oscar speech. Loved him. Go Jordan Catalano!!!
LOVED Pink! (No surprise there!)
I felt for Idina. That intro had to shake her and she seems extremely nervous in unfamiliar environments like that. She also has that tendency to rush through lyrics and not stick to the pace of the music, which doesn't really work with this difficult song. Other than that final belt, I thought it was good and it worked. I think she looked very disappointed in herself.
The audience seemed very generous with the standing ovations tonight.
And chiming in from the second page, HorseTears, I think Goldie and Kurt are still together. At least they were on Valentine's day.

I found it weird when Will Smith walked out to present Best Picture -
It was meant to be ironic

Posted: 3/3/14 at 7:15amI never knew that mentioning the Lord or thanking and acknowledging him for one's blessings was a bad thing or would get so many people in a tizzy. Interesting.

I thought there were so many wonderful moments last night.
In my opinion, if someone wants to thank God, their mother, their child, the grocery store clerk - it's their moment and their right to do so.
(I thank God for my blessings on a daily basis. Just FYI)
As I posted on the 'In Memoriam' thread, I'm very glad they either discouraged or cut the audio for the audience 'popularity' applause. So inappropriate when any life is being celebrated.
For the most part, I thought everyone looked lovely. Nice to see a touch of elegance with some modern twists.
I enjoyed the multiple movies that were sharing in the awards. It's more exciting (for me) when one film isn't a sure thing going into the evening, and a single film doesn't sweep. (Unless it's a film I adored, in which case I'll totally root for it to win all of them!
)
I watched live, but also recorded the show and will have fun re-watching parts of it.
Finally, in my (probably controversial) opinion, I didn't love Pink... Sorry.

I loved the telecast. It was one of the most highly entertaining ones in recent memory.

Right on Addy!
John Travolta unintentionally stole the show.
Will he ever be able to live it down?
People will be talking about it for years to come.
I can't stop laughing when I think about it.
The wickedly talented Adela Dazeem.

I enjoyed and/or laughed out loud alone here, so many times during the show!
1. Adele Dazeem, of course, was number one.
2. Ellen's Liza joke (I know, NOT funny, but funny!)
3. Ellen's Jennifer Lawrence jokes.
4. The entire pizza segment, especially when Ellen asked if anyone had any money to pay for it.
5. How hysterical Ellen looked as the good witch.
6. Pink's rendition of Over the Rainbow.
7. Jared Leto winning and his speech.
8. Ellen's selfie.
9. Seeing Kim Novak
10. No music playing to get acceptance speeches to end.
I'm sure there's more.

Is that Oliva Wilde in front of Jennifer Lawrence? Way to try to take out the pregnant woman, Jennifer

I loved the pizza segment. "Kerry Washington is pregnant! Make sure she gets pizza!"
The shot of Brad Pitt actually eating the pizza made me giggle.
