From the Red Carpet arrivals tonight. Not the most flattering photo ever taken of Raúl:

aw. But I think it's at least better than the one from last year...

I'm ok with him not winning. I would rather have it be for a performance that is more deserving than this was.
Everyone's favorite driver was apparently at the Tonys tonight.

On the bright side, maybe when he finally does win, he'll be able to pull a Patti LuPone and talk straight through the exit music. "SHUT UP, it's been 29 YEARS!" That was fantastic.
Really though, it just wasn't his year. I have a feeling he'll have a really good shot next year. And the nomination is still nice.

I was sad for a minute, but it's okay. Maybe next year.
I had a total blast at the awards.

Posted: 6/16/08 at 1:06amMy first Tonys, and it was lots of fun! Raul looked good (from a distance), and didn't seem too upset. (I thought Jim Norton's speech was quite touching.) It looked like Raul was choking up a little for his old buds from Steppenwolf-

He did look great. He cleans up well.

Posted: 6/16/08 at 1:25amAny seat warmers get to sit next to him? It seemed like the seat next to him was vacant a couple of times - fun thing with Tony Roberts sitting there, too!

Seat fillers.
There to fill holes for the cameras, not to warm seats for The Talent.

Hah, there are many rules, but "Do not pass notes" is not among them. *note to self for next time*

Raúl looked much more relaxed this year as his category was being announced:
(Is that….dare I say it….do I see a reappearnce of.…the mullet??? )
Raúl enjoying Tony Roberts' performance from Xanadu:

The red carpet pictures don't do a bit of justice to how handsome he looked last night. I love the hair.
I was sitting next to Fantabulous during the Xanadu performance, happily watching Cheyenne Jackson and his shorts, when she started poking me in the shoulder like, "Look! LOOK!" I had no idea what could possibly be on the screen that I apparently MUST look at, but the Tony Roberts thing was hysterical.

Raúl's beautifully eloquent and gracious Red Carpet interview is now available on the Tony website.

lol, "You're back!"
Those women make him look so tall.
That was a sweet interview. He did seem so happy last night.

Raul handled himself well, I think, during the interview.
I was not able to watch all of the Tony's last night (although I did witness LuPone's speech which was quite amazing). It would be hilarious to see Raul to do the same whenever he wins his Tony ... just keep on going right through the exit music.
