Citizen Rupe.
And now Rebekah Brooks topples:

Step to the front of the queue James Murdoch.
I'm confused. Does Fox News still pretend to be fair and balanced or have they dropped that from their bit now?

Fox And Friends' Comically Clumsy Defense of News Corp

Interesting! The PR is taking a very different line over there to over here. It looks like damage limitation and distraction on your side whereas it's apologising and atonement over here.
Murdoch personally apologised to the family of the murdered teenage girl whose 'phone was hacked yesterday. I think it's important to mention that although that phone hacking was ten years ago (as clumsily mentioned in the report you link) the hacking and deletion of messages impeded the police investigation and the murderer has only just been convicted, allowing him to have murdered two more victims in the meantime. So that put-it-to-bed defence is extremely clumsy and bordering on the tasteless.

Having apologised to them, Murdoch now has taken out announcements in every national newspaper this weekend apologising to the nation.

All this after the appointment of a major PR company: perhaps this would explain how the "minor mistakes" are now a matter of mea culpa. I don't believe a word of his apologies.
He seems to have finally realised that the hidden agenda here is to remove him completely from British national life.
Just a quiet Sunday in this scandal...
Rebekah Brooks has been arrested and the Head of the Metropolitan Police Force has resigned.
Ah, This is how Rupert does business.
News Corp hacking whistleblower found dead
I hope Hugh Grant has extra security and does not plan on flying in any small engine planes.

My favorite part of that Fox & Friends clip is the end. After building up the whole premise of "Why are newspapers/networks wasting time talking about this with all that's going on with the economy/debt," they finish up with "and now on to the latest on Casey Anthony." Brilliant!
Just when you think this can't possibly get any more outlandish.
Sean Hoare is found dead on the day that the documentary interview with him is screened and the day before the Murdochs appear before Parliament.
SO, who wants to guess at who will star in and direct the movie? Oliver Stone is the obvious choice as director. Robert Duvall as Rupert or maybe Gene Hackman can come out of retirement and play Murdoch. This story is writing itself and I'm expecting a shock ending.
Julianne Moore is a shoo-in for Rebekah Brooks. Unless they can find a Carrie-era Piper Laurie.

Don't mess with Wendi Deng!!
She should be arrested for assault.
The curtain has been pulled back on the wizard of Oz...

Julianne Moore with a Marge Lebowski accent as Brooks. Geoffrey Rush as Rupert, Lucy Liu as Wendi, Toni Collette as Elisabeth, Joel Edgerton as Lachlan, and Guy Pearce as James Murdoch. David Yates (did the State of Play mini-series pre-Harry Potter films) directs. Yeah, I put way too much thought into this.

Geoffrey Rush is PERFECT casting.
Colbert weights in and is right as usual.

Wow, it's Newscorpse's fault Obama beat Hilary!!
"Geoffrey Rush is PERFECT casting."
Agreed. But who to play Murdoch's nemeses? The three people credited with tenaciously bringing this matter to the surface are Guardian journalist Nick Davies and Labour MPs Tom Watson and Chris Bryant.
Chris Bryant is particularly interesting as he is a former vicar who became an MP in 2001 and was then outed by the Murdoch press when they published photographs from his Gaydar profile:
Mmmmm, handshake. Maybe he should have used a tripod.
At a subsequent political conference, where he met Rebekah Brooks at an evening function, Bryant quotes Brooks as having said to him "Mr Bryant, it's after dark. Shouldn't you be out cruising on Clapham Common?", to which Brook's then husband (actor Ross Kemp, whom Goth will recognise) responded "Shut up you homophobic cow."

At least eight journalists from Murdoch's other trashy tabloid The Sun were arrested over the weekend and, in a controversial editorial today, their highest profile commentator complains about their treatment.

"In the Sun newsroom there is a sense of anger and despair. "Any of us could be arrested, we just don't know," said one insider who asked not to be named... "There is going to be a backlash when Murdoch arrives here later this week."
Murdoch can't afford to close The Sun as the profits from this bail out The Times and The Sunday Times.
This one is going to run and run and run.
