Since the movie is officially out and playing in theaters (and I think some people on the board said they were going to the midnight showings), post all of your reviews, criticisms, etc. for all to see . . . good OR bad.
you dont waste any time do you? :)
Of course not
Went to a screening tonight... Wow... crap, crap, crap, crap, crap. It was really cheesy and pretty awful (to the point where most of the theatre was laughing at things that were supposed to be serious). Granted, I didn't like the first two, so maybe it just wasn't for me.
The only reason I've seen any of them is because New York is pretty... and so is James Franco. :)
TERRIBLE... what a waste of eleven dollars... sandman made for a terrible main villain, the whole emo Peter Parker thing was absurd (and i felt like they stole that entire piano bar scene from The Mask) and it felt like a superhero chick flick... the fight scenes were so done, there was nothing exciting or new about the movie... I wish venom was the main villain, and Tobey Maguire's acting was terrible! The worst part was, my entire theatre (which was full of hardcore fans) was laughing hysterically throughout the entire thing...
i loved it, BUT did anyone catch the huge PLOT HOLE hint it very soon after venom makes his apperance
and if you hated the 1st two, why go,
what was the plot hole hint?
and i actually really enjoyed the first two... this one i thought was just sooo bad
I am seeing it in a few hours, so we shall see!
spidey i will be shocked if u hate it

I just got back from watching the movie and it was awful! I was at the drive-in so I couldn't hear others around me laughing but I know that me and my friends were definetely laughing at parts that weren't supposed to be funny. Thankfully I only payed $5 but even that was a waste. I loved the first two movies a lot so I know it's not a biast based on a previous distaste for the movie...it just sucked. Emo Peter Parker was not cutting it for me (no pun intended) and the random dance sequence and hair toss put me over the top.
On another related note, that could not have been Kirsten Dunst singing...or was it?

Saw the midnight screening here tonight. I left the theater completely convinced that it was my absolute favorite in the series. Spiderman is my ultimate hero and embodies so much that this film was entertaining and yet another chapter in one of my favorite film series.
As I left I was surprised to hear so many people criticizing it and saying how it was worse than the other two. I completely disagree.
Topher Grace was absolutely perfect, I was so glad that James Franco actually had something to DO in this one and he provided some of the best moments in the film. The villians were superb, I could actually tolerate, and even liked, Kirsten Dunst. McGuire was at the top of his game, but I wish that they included more into the Gwen Stacy aspect. I don't want to give much away but,

I felt she was just used as a tool in this one and was nothing to take seriously. And I love Bryce Dallas Howard too! And I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that Mary Jane should have been dropped from the show the second she opened her mouth to sing.

I saw it. It was pretty good. It didn't have any of the grandiose feel of the second one or any especially memorable scenes, but Sandman made a great villain. Wish the plotlines had been woven together more tightly and we could have seen a little less of Kirsten Dunst (who annoys me more with each progressive movie) and more of Venom, but what can you do, the 300 million dollars have been spent and the movie is out :P
Don't listen to the detractors, it's totally fun and worth seeing, even if it is a little cheesey!

The movie reporter on ABC Good Morning America wasn't too fond of it.
Saw it yesterday ! It was entertaining and ok ! The action scenes were great, but there were moments that it just dragged and dragged and it felt longer than it is ! Topher Grace is sooo cute and so my type and James Franco was gorgeous, but I do believe that Kirsten Dunst is one of the ugliest actresses working today ! Updated On: 5/4/07 at 08:06 AM
omg franco in the short short boxer breifs
a big part of me really wishes that tobey would have bailed out after the first movie since he cannot pull over spiderman, at all. jake gyllenhaal, who was rumored to be a frontrunner to replace him if maguire's negoations brokedown, can pull over the superhero much better. if nothing else, james franco should have won the role over tobey from the get-go.
i saw the trailer for the first time yesterday and i just cannot accept meek, mousy tobey as a badass. not at all.
I liked it. It kept me entertained the entire way through. And that was after only getting 4 hours of sleep (I went to a 6:30am screening). Yes, some of it was cheesy and predictable, but it kept my attention and I never once asked myself, "what time is it?" or "when is this going to end?" - which I do at a good amount of movies. I loved Topher and James!! I got really excited during the scene with the crane because I got to see the filming over Memorial Day weekend last year! And then my friends and I caught up with Topher and got pics with him!
i just didn't really get the emo peter parker thing? was it like that in the comic books? they could have made him really bad ass and made him cool, but they made him emo? i just didn't get it...
I TOTALLY disagree, RobbO. I think Tobey is the PERFECT choice for Peter/Spider-Man. Jake would have been great, too . . . but Tobey just has so much of a Peter Parker quality anyway that can be found in all of his movies, that I can not picture anyone else playing this role. There are moments within the series (Have not seen the third one, yet. Going in just a couple of hours) that I think he could have chosen a better way to act out a scene, but 98% of his portrayal of Peter/Spidey is SPOT ON to the early SPIDER-MAN comic books. Now, Peter in the comics is pretty cool but when it started, Peter was just like the way Tobey is portraying him in the films. PERFECTION!!!!!
Now, Kirsten as M.J. was just horribly wrong! I have yet to like her in the movies.

I was with comic book geeks who kept moaning about how they "chaaaaanged venom. waaaaaaahica."
yep, adapting books into movies as a straight adaptation is ALWAYS a good idea. ALWAYS. Gilliam's FEAR AND LOATHING was not JUST A FLUKE.
what was venom like originally?

I kind of wished Ingmar Bergman had directed this.
