"As of right now, SPIDER-MAN 3 has made $375 million worldwide. Wow . . . and that is just one weekend here and a week in other places. It has already recouped it's investment, plus $117 million more in profit."
Are you sure about that?
The Most Expensive Movie Ever Made
I too came out of the theater feeling eh. I had a good time, But it coulda been a lot better. I think I went for the 300 mil visual effects though.
The Story needed SERIOUS work. For it to be as long as it was (it felt like it was never gonna end at times), I expected MUCH more.
The main reason I went to see it (alongside the afore mentioned effects) was b/c of Venom, who is one of my FAVORITE villains, and was disappointed with the small amount of time devoted to him. There was not much development to him at all! I was soo upset about that. (And I must say that found it odd that he goes to the church, all repentant-like, humbly asking God... to Kill Peter, but that could just be me.) Thomas Haden Church was kinda wasted. I love him and just found myself disappointed in how they used him. A PLUS though: as someone mentioned, the actual visual sequences of how they become Venom and Sandman were HOT! (I see where the 300 mil was spent, b/c it wasnt on story development).
I was questioning the crane too. I was like "um, did he just forget about that huge crane? what about the other people who might end up hanging 60 stories above ground b/c this thing is STILL swinging around like no tomorrow?"
Peter "struttin his stuff" was the cheesiest thing I have ever seen.
And the ENDING! what the hell! It was sooo corny. Yes, Sandman wasn't really a "bad guy", but to actually have him stand there and have an emotional moment with Spidey? Whoa! I did like Harry redeeming himself though, AND it worked b/c it was properly developed.
Overall: Great effects & visuals, poor story

Pab . . . I was just going by what yahoo movies said.
i'm watching the second Spider-Man right now, and this is soooo much better than the third...
My favorites go in this order:
1) Spider-Man
TIE: 2 and 3

What I think are the strongest films directorially: 1, 2, 3
haha, even as you can see that I think they go downhill, I think in terms of entertainment and what I left the theater most satisfied with.
Well, the first one (to me) was a perfect superhero movie that balanced action with character development and dialog with grace and ease.
The second one had a better story plot, and good character development, but the dialog was WAY too soap operish and there was a lot of down time that kind of dragged.
The third one didn't have that great of a plot development because I think they crammed too much into one movie, but the dialog was better and the action scenes were MUCH better. Also, there was more to keep my attention and make me have the same feeling as I do reading a great Spider-Man comic.
i think that 3 would have been a much better movie if it focused on Venom as the main villain, having sandman there just didn't make sense, and the audience couldn't really root against him, even when he was fighting Spider-Man, because we got all of that sappy backstory...
^^AGREED!
It would have been my favorite Spider-Man movie, if it was just Venom as the villain.
as much as i disliked the movie, the scene of Brock turning into Venom was incredible... more venom, and more darkness like in that scene, would have made the movie much more enjoyable in my opinion

I think the amount of comedy in it was there for a family friendly crowd. Some things I was surprised to read had this being billed as targeting family audiences which are a major source of revenue. Could that explain perhaps some of the added cheesiness?
I think because the third movie was darker than the previous two, it just seemed cheesier than it would have been in the first or second movie.
i disagree... i think that the only two "dark" scenes were the transformation into Venom, and Parker's fight with Harry in his apartment... other than that I didn't find there to be any darkness, and after just re-watching the second movie, i found the third to be much much more cheesy or campy...
And the jazz club, and the final battle was a lot darker and brutal than the previous two movies. And when I say "Dark," I don't mean just certain scenes . . . I am talking about the atmosphere of the movie and so on. But, I guess we have to agree to disagree.
The second definitely was better. Definitely felt ehh after 3, and dozed off a couple times.
The Broadway theme was fun though.
"I think that Gwen Stacy should die in the next one if they use her, which they should."
There's going to be a Spiderman 4?
I liked the movie. I, too, felt at times that the story kept building up without ever ending. And finally at the end, it just all happens at once.
I liked it a lot though. Thought some parts were very funny.

Not only a 4, but a 5 and a 6 to!
Yeah, and I'm 98% sure that Tobey, Kirsten, and Sam Raimi aren't going to come back for another one. If the reviews were stellar like the second one, then there probably would be a greater chance. I wish they would just stop now, because there was a closure for the trilogy that worked great.
Things that stood out to me in S3:
This suit is black.
I'm so emo. My life hurts.
*Hair toss*
groin. GrOiN. GROOIIIINNN!!!
why don't you think they would come back?
i'm thinking that Sam Raimi would definitely participate... what else is he going to do? plus he's apparently alienated a lot of industry people during these three movies...
Well, Raimi is in talks to possibly direct THE HOBBIT, so if he agrees to that, he won't be back to direct Spidey. Also, Tobey and Kirsten said that they are not coming back if Raimi doesn't. Well, with Tobey, it has never been all about the money. Even when he hurt his back on SEABISCUIT and they were talking about replacing him . . . it wast the story that made him fight to try to be able to be in the second movie. He said, that the story was too good to let it go (or something like that). Also, they have been at it for years and I think they are tired of it, which is understandable. They also feel that the third movie was a closure of sorts to story arcs that were presented in the first two.
