It is ironic. I always thought it was funny that at the beginning of Dear Old Shiz Glinda says, "Well, it depends on what you mean by friends. I did know her, that is, our paths did cross at school." I mean, they were best friends. Not on the topic of before but on the ironic topic. Lol.

Well, that's not so much ironic, as it is her lying to save her merit and, as we find out at the end, to continue doing Elphaba's good deeds...

Here's what I liked:
The original cast. Just brilliant. Every single one of them deserved a Tony as far as I'm concerned. I think Carole Shelley is extremely underrated. I think she's arguably the best actor in the show. The costumes, the lighting, all the technical elements are fabulous. The dancers are good. It isa an extremely well-directed show. Kristin and Idina's singing are out of this world. Norbert's is fabulous too. Overall, the music is wonderful (no pun intended). Stephen Schwartz perfectly captured the feelings of these characters. Another underrated person is Winnie Holzman. The book of the musical is terrific. It makes the show.
What I didn't like:
A few of the songs are dull and boring. While the people in the ensemble are great dancers, they can't sing. The women are always sharp. They're good dissonance and bad dissonance. When they sing, it's bad dissonance. The choreography isn't the best I've been. It isn't terrible, but it seems like it's trying too hard to be something that it's not. There are some obvious plot holes.
As a whole, I love it. It's not a perfect show, but in my book, it's pretty damn close.

I've mentioned before that I don't like much of the songwriting- a lot of the lyrics just plain annoy me and the way they're sung/spoken can sound horrible.
Give credit where it's due though- "Don't be offended by my frank analysis/Think of it as personality dialysis" Love love LOVE that line! Some of the rhyming schemes are just brilliant, IMO.
i'm so excited about this thread! it's nice to know there's a place to discuss that doesn't include the likes of the tweens who conducted the candle-lighting ceremony on sunday...
*Raises hand* I want to join the fan club!!! Wait, is this fan club real or imaginary? I can never tell when people are actually serious about stuff like this. But I can be treasurer if you like. I'm good at math.
So, question: When Elphaba gets that note from Chistery at the end, are we to assume that Fiyero has written the plan on that paper and she pretends it says that he is dead, or did they plan it out before hand and the note is the cue for her to "surrender"? What do you guys think?

*watches rotating cd* It's like it's hypnotizing me....
I think Fiyero tells her the plan in the note and she implies that he's dead. She says "We've seen his face for the last time" which he true, because he's a scarecrow.

making a site without permission is a bad way to go... those images and stuff are all copyrighted. Updated On: 1/14/05 at 12:14 AM
Beka, checked out the site, looks good so far but I agree you should check the copyrights first...
Keep us all posted when there is new stuff to look at!
