actually a win by the super delegates is exactly what they were designed to do: save the party from the people.
oh, and bam bam's gotta win 70% of the remaining states to get there without the superdelegates too.

11 polls came out today, all reporting movement in Hillary's direction except Zogby.
In last day of campaigning, Clinton appears to have stopped the bleeding

Great article, PalJoey. Did you read the 40 or so comments underneath it that almost unanimously say, "doesn't change a thing."? I agree with those.
And having to win 70% OF THE remaining states is VERY different than having to win BY 70% in EACH of the remaining states, which Obama does not need to do.

Of course you do, dear.
And that 70% number goes both ways. See Papa's post.
The reality is, this may not be decided till June.

Posted: 3/3/08 at 9:11pmif you want to be exact, in order to win the nomination based on current numbers excluding any superdelegates obama needs to win 85% of the remaining delegates and even if she wins 100% she doesn't clinch. the superdelegates will decide it and it'll depend on who's got the mo and whether or not bam bam testifying in tony rezko's trial.

Posted: 3/3/08 at 9:12pmThe 70% does not go both ways. The 70% is what she needs to catch up to him. He could lose every state from now on by a point or two and still have more delegates than her.

Posted: 3/3/08 at 9:16pmneither of them gets to the clinching number before the convention. they're going to keep splitting and be about 100 delegates apart right up to the convention. at which point it will all depend on who the supes feel is the better candidate. bam bam better hope that the media doesn't turn on him between now and then or he'll be toast.

Not if the delegates from Michigan and Florida are counted or the primaries are rescheduled.
The endlessly bragged-about Invincible Obama Math EXCLUDES Florida and Michigan. That's because he never thought he could take those states.
Michigan and Florida will tip the count to Hillary, whether they are seated or they vote.

I think Fl and MI should be rescheduled and vote when PA does, one last Super Tues. This would give everyone plenty of time to campaign. That way nobody can claim unfair. It's really unfair to the people of MI and FL, who had nothing to do with this decision and turned out in record numbers to vote.

...The Democratic Party is excluding Florida and Michigan, not just Obama. The delegates are not going to be counted as is. Whether or not they're rescheduled is up to the party, not the candidates and definitely not their supporters.
That's because he never thought he could take those states.
That sounds like the excuse Hillary supporters have made for her losing. "She didn't bother trying, because she knew she wouldn't win. That's the only reason Obama won 10 states in a row."

Hillary would have won Michigan and Florida even if all went "fairly". And she would still win both states today.
If she wins Texas, Ohio, and Penn, she deserves to be the nominee clear and simple.

Well, clearly, if she wins OH and TX overwhelmingly the math will look pretty different. But even if she wins TX it'll be a fairly even split (with Obama possibly winning more delegates). It's not looking good for her to sweep OH and we won't know about PA for a while.
Most likely tomorrow will leave Obama and Hillary where they are today.
Apparently Howard Dean is calling for FL to redo their vote. I think that's probably a good idea, although I still feel tbat rules were agreed to that were broken.
I just feel like this whole beat each other down to a standstill thing isn't good in the long run...

It is what it is.
I think it's silly to wring one's hands and say "It's not good for the party! It's not good for the party!"
It wonderful for the party to have two candidates this worthy.
What's "bad for the party" is for anyone to say, "If my candidate is not the nominee, I won't vote at all."
THAT'S bad for the party.

Well, you DO know desperate...
She would have won Michigan and Florida. She still would win Michigan and Florida. Record Dems voted in Florida. And picked Hillary. Wah.

No one in Fl voted to move up their primary. The state senate did. If Fl/MI had voted on Feb.5 or later no one would contest these votes.

We have a representative government system. If those people who were elected to represent the state broke the rules, well, they represent the state. That's just how it is. I suppose if FL and MI REALLY care, they can stage a mass march on Washington, depose of their representatives, and have a truly democratic show of hands vote.
Jerby, your logic about who's being sneaky is bizarre. Hillary was perfectly happy to not seat those states before she won them.
