And on the anniversary of his inauguration. Word is he's furious because he had a big party planned at Mar-A-Lago tonight to celebrate and now he has to stick around in Washington and actually maybe do his job.

Got a question for you. One of the issues at these marches is equal pay for women. Every company I have worked for in 40 years of working has had job grade levels which has salary ranges. Obviously, these ranges have a top and a bottom salary range. Last year, I got promoted to a Senior Technical level of my job in IT and my salary was raised to the lowest level of that position. In the same position, I have a woman co-worker who has been in the same position for about three years. She makes more than me which she should because of her tenure and expertise in that position. My question is how do most women make less than men when companies have these job levels with salary ranges.

I'm sure there are a bunch of companies that DO pair fairly -- but all the research proves that OVERALL that is not the case.
You can only TRULY compare with a woman with your exact background (years of experience, background) as you have at the same moment. Or compare a man with the colleague you spoke of that has the same experience as she does now. You might find out that a man matching her makes more than she is, or that you will make what she does now sooner than did she.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

The Democrats caved (again) because this party has no backbone. Does Schumer or anyone in that caucus truly believe McConnell will honor his word? And there was no assurance that even if McConnell did agree to a DACA Vote (which would pass easily) that Ryan and the cronies across the chamber in the House would ever take it up. Disgusted.

I think this might have actually been a smart move on Schumer's part.
The Senate has an immigration bill ready to go, that resolves DACA, that will pass easily. The House bill will never pass the Senate.
If the Senate passes a bill and Ryan refuses to vote on it, or if McConnell goes back on his word and doesn't allow a vote all hell will break loose.

Schumer played the hand he was dealt. I wouldn't bet the ranch on the House taking up the Senate immigration bill. It's all a ruse.

The White House is calling this a win. But what did Republicans get? Nothing. Another short term spending bill.
I think Dems will have way more leverage in a couple of weeks if McConnel decides to go back on his word or the House refuses to pass anything. I believe polls show almost 90% of the country is in favor of a DACA deal. And the Repubs won't have children's health care to use as ransom anymore.

What leverage? CHIP was funded, and a vote on immigration was publicly guaranteed. If nearly 90% of Americans support some legal protection for DREAMers, what's going to happen if a vote doesn't happen (or fails) by November? Who's going to get the blame at the ballot box? Not the Democrats.

How do you know I am white - lol. I just asked a question and got a intelligent response from "dramamama611" and not some snide remark. As for the shutdown, both parties are pathetic. The fact that our government has to be constantly funded by CR is just incredible.
