This is not the first time something like this has been done. When Vincent Minnelli designed all the Radio City shows this gimmick was used on a few occasions . Anyone seen something like it before? Loved it.

Bob Mackie did it for Diana Ross in the 70's
It's been done to death before.

True. Before the projections started, I was saying to myself, "She's not moving at all".
Now, if it was coming from inside the dress, that would be amazing!

Posted: 2/11/13 at 4:49pmThat's probably not too far off, Diva. LED panels are becoming thinner and more flexible as we speak. It's only a matter of time before one can be used to make that a reality.

'Neil Patrick Harris's t-shirt was used that way to devastating effect in the Assassins revival.'
Apparently, the intent was to project the Zapruder film across the entire expanse of the stage. It turned out to be difficult to discern, so they changed it to the tight-focused projection on NPH's shirt, which, in turn, became one of the great coup de theatre I've witnessed in the past decade (at least).

I had thought that the second graphic (swirling stars) was an actual LED panel, but when they went in for a close up, I could tell it wasn't.
But I loved the way the butterflies flew out of her who-ha at the end!

Don't they light up from inside the dress for all those ice capade-holiday on ice shows?

Posted: 2/11/13 at 5:56pmTo be fair, Carrie Underwood is a stand and deliver performer. She doesn't move a lot onstage. The video gown was a perfect distraction from her lack of movement.
