Being 16 doesn't necessarily explain why you chose to label something a freak that you didn't understand anything about. I think there are greater lessons that could be taught here.

Well, I am very sorry. I find it very unusual. Really, no one is a freak, they are just different than yourself.
Wow. When transexuals take a beating on a theater board, one can only begin to imagine the tough row they have to hoe in society at large.
I've had a couple of patients with whom I've worked closely who were transexuals. It's an incredibly difficult journey to make. I perceive it as a compulsion to right a mistake of nature. I'm not even sure I would agree that to make that journey is a choice, as much as a need.
What the hell!!! JRB says I am a bigot now. I didn't start this post to insult people just saying what I saw on the subway today. chill man

I believe he was talking to me, honey.
No we are in the chat room. I am apparently "making fun of trannies" and jrb is very offended. I started the post because im sick of people fighting over stupid stuff and see what somebody starts? oy.
You are insulting a group of people. It's no different than making fun of someone for their race, gender, sexual orientation, handicap, religion, etc.

Why bring what is said in the chat room onto the boards?
I read somewhere a long, long time ago that most men in Drag are straight. But, again...long, long, long time ago
Let it be known that I didn't bring this into the chat room, nor vice versa.
Insulting??? Well in that case:
Dear Broadway World Transexuals,
This post is not meaning to be offensive to you. Sorry if you took it that way.
Happy now jrb?

If I was a transexual, I would be offended that you used 'trannies.' Do people call you 'whitey'?

Awww...quiters do not get anywhere.
to be honest, if someone called me "whitey" I would laugh in their face. I am not white....I am ghostly white.
What about Honkey? That's funnier than whitey.

(ignore me)
Bwaytheatre, I understand what you are saying and I agree. I am just saying, that if someone came up to me and called me "whitey" "cracker" or "honkey" to my face, I probably would laugh at them. Can't stop an impulse.
Anyone with a sense of humor please stand up.....oh...ok

I was doing something called "mocking." I understood what you meant.

Let's be clear, transsexualism is an issue of gender, not sexuality. Some male transsexuals are attracted to women and others are attracted to men -- the same is true of female transsexuals. I've known both men and women who have undergone the gender reclassification surgery and the reasons for it had little, if anything to do with being gay or straight. They had felt from childhood that they had been born with the wrong gender and have endured years of pain and depression because of it. There are very complicated psychological issues that go with this (as well as some biological ones, sometimes -- some were in fact born with an extra X or Y chromosome). It's a very difficult situation for those who go through it and they deserve our compassion.
cool. Mocking is what makes this country what it is.
I can't believe how worked up people are about transexuals. This is way to funny!!
1. Margo, love the new icon.
2. Honest question: is there a difference between "transsexual" and "transgendered"?
If so, what is it?
