I've just been told that he's on a 3-day ban for bumping his own threads.

So, at least we have the next three days without it.

Honestly, what the hell took so long? He's been breaking rules since day one. From the moderator's warning:

"Spamming can come in various forms including but not limited to bumping of several messages; the proliferation of messages "daisy-chained" off of other thread topics; the creation of multiple threads without content or the sole purpose to clutter the message board. "

Isn't that basically all he does?

Not good enough. He'll be back. If the mods would just take the time and review his posts and see that he offers nothing to the discussion I think they would see how serious this has become.Without disciplining him,he has become worse. He is a troll,something most respectful forums should do away with.EVERYONE HATES him. I hate having him hijack a thread which asks for honest and civil debates.No more can we have serious discussions. He is a 5 year old. Also, if they checked his IP address,they would see he has multiple accounts, something according to BWW"s guidelines and rules is a no no.So, if they wanted to ban him they could. I would go one step further and block his IP address. SO MANY posters who USE TO POST HERE FREQUENTLY No longer do so. Why would the moderators ignore their loyal members here who enjoy this place and go by the rules over a sock puppet who seems to get a thrill by making trouble? Craig use to really challenge HDThoreau2 and chime in. At least we got the impression the moderators were around. These days it feels like they don't even know this place exists.

So, forgive me for not celebrating or being happy. He'll be back. Some other posters may not be.

I don't think he's done anything worth being banned about- being stupid is not a crime.

I wonder if "Reto Casanova" got a months' suspension as others who have created multiple identities have.

I want him blocked because he's breaking the rules - because he exists only to incite - because he won't enter into a debate, but is merely using the same words and phrases over and over.

But he has - just look at my post above, a cut and paste from the mods' warnings. He's broken every one of those rules, as well as others (this is what - his fourth, fifth incarnation?)

You guys think he should be here? You can have him. If you continue to engage this guy, you're not only wasting your energy but also feeding into a very sick pathology. Have fun with that. I'm out. If he starts a thread, I refuse to post in it. If he enters a thread, I'll ignore him. I'd recommend you all do the same. I understand he pushes buttons, but it's ridiculous, not to mention a little sick, to try to have any kind of discussion with him. He's like a deranged machine, spitting out hate and derision.

It definitely should be blocked and not allowed to return. I do a lot of lurking, and definitely do not find anything funny or amusing about it.

And honestly, if people here who have higher credibility get banned for longer for lesser offenses, that is ridiculous.

So clearly when he starts a thread if nobody responds in said thread and he bumps it and bumps it and bumps it, as he is wont to do, he will get a suspension again. So that's good to know.

The problem with his jumping into other threads is that he doesn't actually engage, he just drops largely unrelated political non-sequiturs into the middle of things and when somebody tries to respond to those it becomes all about how the left is hypocritical and censoring.

We are in the middle of an employment crisis in this country and we have a president who seems woefully out of touch and we have a media who wants to play the mid-term horse race game as if it's business as usual. And then CountA jumps in and tells people who aren't defending Obama that they are defending Obama and when they point out that they are not they are hypocrites trying to stifle free speech,.

It's like Jason Linkins said about Meet the Press, it's a place where being "wrong" is just a different, interesting point of view. At least in CountA's mind.

I personally ignored him for months, but the revelation that Mark Manley posts all over the place as thespis48 and nobody ever responds to his efforts was just too delicious to not inspire more digging. I love that he painted himself into a corner, tried to make it about me when he really just needs to figure out if he would be this deliberately antagonistic if everybody knew who he was? Is this really how he wants to live his life? Is this what they taught him at the Christian college he went to? What would Jesus do, thespis148?

So, I'm on board with never contributing to his threads, in fact, I don't think I've done that once in this CountA incarnation, but if he just keeps doing his noodgie thing in regular threads I WILL point out that we all know who he is, and remind him of that fact. This place was here a long time before he arrived, and has been here when he disappears for long stretches (mental health crises?) and will be here after he's gone for good. But there comes a time when even the brattiest child needs to be put in its place, loudly and clearly.

So, that's my personal opinion about the Mark Manley of Xenia, Ohio aka thespis148 (at gmail and hotmal!) situation. I also love the Facebook friend he can't figure out supplying photos from his account! Hi-LAR-IOUS.

It’s got nothing to do with censoring him. It does have everything to do with his posts and the fact that he really adds NOTHING to a thread, other than post things that only seem to want to piss people off.

He starts his own threads, which we ignore, and when he doesn’t get the reaction he wants there, he goes into other threads and interruptsthem with his thoughts that have nothing to do with the threads intention.

He flat out lied when he came on board as Count A, claiming to be a Democrat, but I knew from the start that it wasn’t the truth from his condescending tone.

I’m all for free speech, but I don’t go into Republican chat rooms and pee on the wallpaper.

When he comes back, and he will, I will also ignore him.

Just about everyone else on this board realizes he isn't a bratty child, he's a mentally ill adult, Namo. What do you hope to accomplish by reminding him we know who he is? What good has that done so far? He clearly doesn't care, and when there are pages of back and forth between only the two of you, you sound just as crazy as he does - and you better believe that he's getting off like crazy, probably quite literally, on your obsessively feeding his sick obsession. Visualize that and live with that image for awhile. It seems obvious that you don't want that.

So I'll ask you again - what is it you hope to accomplish by dogging him everywhere? Does it give you some personal satisfaction? I can assure you it's not doing the rest of us any good, and we will never get rid of him if you keep engaging him. He's a disturbed individual - clearly mentally ill. I'm not asking you to find sympathy for him, but what's the point in engaging someone that deeply damaged? Do us all a favor and ignore him. It's the only way we'll get rid of him, and if you must find some way of hurting him, ignoring him will be the worst thing you can do to him. He laps up every bit of attention you give him. He loves it. He tells you so, and you still give it to him. Think about that. You are doing just exactly what he wants you to.

I don't really dog him everywhere and I only seriously engaged him this week. For the first time ever in this incarnation, even though he attempted to bait me regularly over the past several months. And I do think it's funny that despite claiming he's not the same person, once I DID engage him he started using the same insults the person he alleges he isn't used.

I honestly believe that when it really gets through his thick skull that we DO know exactly who he is and that his saying he isn't is not enough, he will have a come to Jesus (he graduated from one of the Lord's colleges, you know) moment and realize that without his anonymity he is revealing something that is not even his true self.

Recently VoiceAnth made an appearance and after all these years admitted that he loved the fact that he was "one of, maybe THE, original a-holes" on this board. He didn't get why I used to criticize him for being phony because "who made up the rule that people have to be real on the internet." After years of thinking he couldn't possibly have meant the things he said, VoiceAnth finally admitted that he wrote and argued things he didn't even mean. VoiceAnth and I had legendary battles on here, a time that many people in the nostalgia thread were clearly looking back on fondly. Hell, VoiceAnth and I even got screen-name checked in Marc Shaiman's "Pick a Little Post a Little" video, so TELL ME THAT WASN"T WORTHWHILE!

I am hoping Mark Manley will just come clean the way VoiceAnth finally did and by reminding him that it's HIS behavior and not an anonymous screen name that people are seeing, maybe it will spur him along.

I didn't even respond to VoiceAnth's revelation, because it wasn't anything I didn't already know. But man was it nice to have it confirmed.

Einstein, as someone else on this board said awhile back regarding this situation, famously defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. That's what you're doing with CountA. I'll say this one last time - the guy is pretty clearly seriously disturbed. Mentally ill. Why are you arguing with someone in that state?

He very obviously enjoys the attention you lavish on him. It's unlikely that I'm going to change your mind, though, so I'll bow out now. I've said all I wanted to say. Maybe this is the impetus I needed to spend less time on this board, if not leave it entirely. This kind of pointless bickering and negativity are things I don't need - and I can assure you I will never look back on it with fond nostalgia. I cannot understand why anyone would.

I wrote what I wrote to demonstrate that I have been thoughtful in my decision making and in my posting strategy. I waste a lot more time in my life doing things much stupider than writing occasional posts on a message board, so, I can't say I share your concern about me wasting time and energy.

My only real discomfort through all of this was the public posting of private personal information, such as a phone number. Whether it was real or not, it set a precedent that I'm not interested in upholding.
