It's still astonishing to me that he lives such a "conflictual" life.
He comes here--and now we know he posts other places as well--and picks fights with people who for the most part don't respond. If they do respond, it's just to let other posters know that he's not worth responding to.
Yet he keeps coming back here--and, presumably, the other sites--never for the "validation" of connecting with someone who shares your thoughts of feelings, but always for the conflict, even when no one is actually engaging with him on the issues.
I long ago said about the original arch-conservative character "Rodney" that I knew conservatives and worked with them and could tell Rodney wasn't a true conservative, just someone posting conservative sound bites to rile liberals. I still think that's true about CountA/Mark Manly/Thespis/Chanticleer/HDThoreau, even though he posts conservative threads elsewhere: He's not a true believer; he's just spoiling for a fight.
We all log on to BWW and Facebook to connect with others and receive some of that validation, and we all fight senselessly with others on this site and other sites.
But for someone to spend 50%? 60% 90% of his time in Internet battles is mind-bogglingly sad.

Posted: 9/6/10 at 11:59amBut on Youtube and Vodpod (a site I had never known existed before this), nobody engages with thespis. He posted like 90 videos on Vodpod, which is an awfully big effort for somebody who never gets a response. Maybe he's like one of those people who just like to hear himself talk, internet version? I mean, four bumps of his own thread "agreeing" with somebody about something they never said? Maybe where he's from, that's like somebody seeing himself on the TEEvee?

PJ, that's what's always baffled me. He seems way more invested in "fooling" people with his persona(e) than even propounding an ultraconservative point of view.
And since it's crystal clear from his first post that NO ONE buys the facade--indeed he's mercilessly mocked for trying--I don't see the payoff.
Pretty much only one person ever gets riled by the content of his postings, so I just don't understand what food pellets he's getting by pressing feverishly at nonworking buttons.

Guys, get with the program: No, you are not going to get him to "wake up".
In fact, that an entire thread is spent, that his thread has triple-digit views...its all just massage for his prostate. IGNORE HIM!!!!

I know he's masturbating himself into a frenzy right now, knowing that this discussion is going on, and he can't take part in it.
Poor thing.
We are going to ignore him when he comes back, but we have another 48 hours to dish.
#34Three Days Without The Count
Posted: 9/6/10 at 1:26pmI don't think he cares if anyone responds. I think it is mostly for attention and I am sure that he will be delighted to see this thread and how many people have viewed it. I'm convinced he gets off more on how many people view his threads than actually post in them. JMO

Posted: 9/6/10 at 1:43pm^That I would agree with. Unfortunately, anyone can read these boards without registering for a name. So, that is probably another reason people keep looking at its threads. We might not be, but someone is.

^I agree, as he's stated the number of posts some of his threads have obtained.
I've gotten to the point that I won't even open a thread that I see he's posted on. (Of course that's only possible if he was either first or last.)
I think we just need to let die ANY thread to which he contributes, then maybe he'll finally leave of his own accord.

I'm getting a kick out of watching all the hoopla over his presense. How hard can it be to ignore the posts? Especially when there's another thread talking about how dead the boards have been. Even if he bumps his own threads, it still only knocks it down a few, and there are still a number of threads to comment on, if desired.
Want a good discussion? Start one, participate in one, whatever - and just ignore his posts. I'd rather have an idea of what to avoid, by recognizing his current persona, than have to go through another process of his 'reinvention'.
I agree with Borstal that he's not going to just go away. And why should he, as long as someone is going to take the bait - and someone always does.
It's still amusing to me to see how and why he gets to people. It seems to say much more about them than him.

Here's the thing: I refuse to sit around contemplating how or how often it gets off.
I agree about not engaging with it or responding to its nonsense. But I think we're allowed to discuss any topic on this board, and that includes the creatures that creep in from under the flooboards occasionally.
It may not matter to it, but it matters to me that we acknowledge (as in this thread) that it's fooled no one.

I've never seen the point in talking TO it, as it's obviously like talking to the wall, but talking ABOUT it has always been something different.
And why not? If you don't want to comment on it, don't. Pretty simple. At least it's something to type about when none of the other threads are moving at all.

Mind you, it was pretty funny when JoeKv was taking its "disappointed Dem" horsesh!t at face value and forcing it to engage that way.
You could practically hear the steam coming out of its ears.

If he was banned 2 months ago for bumping his own thread(c'mon, he has done this since day one. Why haven't the mods suspended him for 3 days back in July or August?)or having multiple accounts or just starting trouble he won't be banned at this point.Other forums do not tolerate this conduct.
So, if those in charge actually took action it would not have escalated to this. What disturbs me is someone is watching the boards and we are gonna see others like The Count pop up because they know they can get away with it.Sock puppets and trolls here just to start trouble and annoy posters. This forum has gone down the toilet and it is taking good posters away from this community.I'm gonna see how things are when the Count returns. If the mods do not take action at the first sign of his antics,I am out of here.I may browse, but I will not talk up this forum like I use to to friends and other Broadway fans.BWW has become worse than IMDB. All anyone has to do is review the Count's posts and see what he is doing. I am amazed at how EVERYONE on BWW is annoyed by this jerk and yet their voices and concerns do not matter. Has nothing to do with agreeing or disagreeing like the Anus Priest mentioned. It's not being able to discuss a topic with another poster who is not rational. A poster who makes up his own rules so he always wins. A poster who links OP's and editorials and passes it off as fact. It's the childish gloating for the dumbest reasons.I like many others are tired of it and once we go there will be less posters here at BWW. Real smart move, all because someone was too chicken to actually take charge and action!
(end of rant......for now!)

Posted: 9/6/10 at 2:24pmI come over here for brief distractions between working on projects, but you guys have a whole life here. So strange. Has anyone considered reading (or writing) a book rather then spend this much time typing about some troll? That said, I'm always interested in reading a little bit about theater board trolls... they are far different from scifi or visual art trolls.

Ha, ha! And then if you total up his various personae it'd be something like, "Eight, eight annoying Coonts. Ah ah ah."
PJ, that's what's always baffled me. He seems way more invested in "fooling" people with his persona(e) than even propounding an ultraconservative point of view.
And THAT is why I found it so satisfying to spell out EXACTLY who he is. I would tell that to ghostlight, but he's left already.
It's definitely more fun to talk ABOUT thespis than to him. If he's stimulating his prostate over it, that's fine by me. I've stimulating many such prostates and I don't think there's any shame in it. I wish thespis could be liberated enough to just own it. Poor old cow.
