Home video of a costumed Tigger character apparently punching a boy in the face and knocking him back at a Walt Disney World theme park has prompted an Orange County Sheriff's investigation into the incident and led to the suspension of the cast member, according to a Local 6 News report.
The Monaco family of New Hampshire said they were visiting a Disney theme park and posing for a photo with Tigger when the character landed a hard punch

There is a video on the linked site.
After watching the video a few times I have to say - it looks bad. But also knowing how wacky those costumes are - it's entirely possible that the person in the costume couldn't see (peripheral vision is not existant) and the person meant to put his hand around the shoulder and clocked the guy instead.
How do you land a "hard punch" with a soft mitt?

I agree Craig. To me it appears accidental. The kid thought it was a joke at first, which suggests to me that the hit couldn't have been all that hard.
Welcome to the magic kingdom
For whatever it is worth, a similar incident re one of the people inside one of those suits went to trial & the guy was exonerated
Imagine working in hot weather inside a hot costume all day with little kids (some obnoxious)busting your chops. Tell me you would not go postal once in awhile
My niece just finished up an internship there, and part of her job was checking in the characters for work, so I can tell you that your sister won't be PLAYING Dale, because Dale is of course real - she will be Dale's Very Good Friend.
After actually wearing that costume, I can state that.... I LOVE that video. There were more than one kid I wanted to punch like that.
thats correct rath, he he i dated a few of very good friends
My sister's moving to Disney World to play Dale in February
My dad was offered to play Dale at Disney World when he lived in Florida. Haha.
Edited for typo.
Knowing how that costume is constructed, it looks to me like the kid grabbed the stiff tail that is attached to the actor around the waist. If you watch, the kid doesn't take his arm away from behind the back of Tigger even after Tigger turns toward the kid, which makes me think the kid had a pretty good hold on it. That would hurt the actor and he was probably just defending himself.
I concur with Craig and Colleen. No way that's an intentional punch. It appears accidental to me. I wonder what happened immediately after the alleged "punch."
Yep, what Sueleen said.
That tail can hurt if pulled on.
It looks to me like Tigger barely touched the kid ... a "punch" that was not ... "clocked him"?!? Hardly. I am sure there will be a lawsuit shortly.
Sorry ... double post ...
I hope Piglet doesn't have to serve as a witness. He always gets nervous about these kinds of things.
Yeah... if it WAS intentional (which I doubt... having worn a similar mascot-type costume before, you have NO peripheral vision. I easily could've whacked someone by accident) $20 says the kid had it coming. A friend of mine worked at WDW when she lived in Florida, and I've heard plenty of horror stories about what kids (particularly teenagers) do to the characters.

It definitely looks like Tigger tripped/fell, grabbed onto the kid's arm, and accidentally whacked him in the face. And judging from the looks of the kid, he's the kind of guy who you could barely tap on the arm and he'll scream bloody murder.
"The general manager apologized to me, and everyone apologized to me but Tigger, he won't be a man about it..."
Anyone else just about cracked up on this line?
That part was pretty funny. That guy was dead serious too.
next up on the 11:00 news, Mickey Mouse has been arrested for first degree murder. Expected to plead not guilty. Wife Minnie refused media's request for a statement. Pluto to be euthanized after vicously mauling Hughy, Dewey and Louie.

How could anyone watch that video and not think it was an accident? This is just some money-hungry family making a big deal out of nothing.
Please, that's nothing compared to what the kids do to the characters
I have a friend who was a "Friend of Rafiki" and he has more than a few horror stories about some little brats who would try to get his "head" off
And it's clear by that video that Tigger was losing his balance!
