Just found out my roommate's hooking it out of our apartment when I'm not there. Any tips on speedy, easy eviction? Excuse me while I go bang my head against a wall.

Inform your landlord that your roommate is using your apartment for illegal purposes? I assume you have some way to tangibly prove this.

I was subletting the room to him, so I'd prefer to not have to involve the landlord.

Hahahaha. If you're looking for that sort of thing, sure, why not. But no matter how good they are, I don't want to live in a brothel. I'll pass on the hard candy Christmas this year.

I don't see how you can evict him quickly without the landlord knowing. That said, why not make the most of it? Demand a cut, and read his Miss Mona's No-No Rules.

No, I'd been getting suspicious. So upon googling his phone number, it's the first thing that came up.

I'd just prefer to not involve the landlord until I have a replacement lined up.

I would confront him about it, say that you don't want to your apartment to be used for illegal activities and that you want him out. If he refuses to comply, threaten to call the police.

Thanks, guys. I have been dreading this day, and should've seen it coming a mile away, truly. But I kept putting off searching for his info so that I wouldn't have to deal with what I expected was true.

If you confront him, tell him if he doesn't leave, you willhave to involve the landlord (you of course don't have to). I am sure he will scamper to get that sweet pay per use ass out of there ASAP.

I think Tom raises a good point - if it's outcalls, does that make you feel differently?

Is this a friend? Just someone renting the room? In any case, I'd talk to him first.

Before you consider legal remedies, why not ask just ask him to leave? Chances are he will probably just leave (or perhaps promise to stop tricking, at least in the apt.) rather than deal with any legal ramifications, which could conceivably go beyond his losing the apartment.

You can not summarily evict him (throw his stuff on the street/change the lock) if he has been there for 30 days. Also, I'm a little confused, first you said this was a roommate, and then you said it was a sublet. There are a great many questions here (whose lease is it? are you in the apartment? is he subletting from another roommate) and I would suggest you speak to a housing lawyer rather than get advise on the line.

Bringing a holdover proceeding is possible for illegal activity if all else fails, but as to whether you can be successful, you'd need to get professional advice, and procedurally, almost everyone who petitions the court for an eviction, gets a lawyer. I'm not sure if you could do this without your landlord's assistance or not, and that is another reason you need a housing lawyer to advise you.

But again, why talk of eviction when you might be able to reach an agreement with him for his departure?

The reviews are dated for times he was living here, and he only offers outcalls, apparently. The massage table is here, and I've come home or left just before his sessions. I know for a fact he's doing it here.

If he was not doing it here, it wouldn't be my business and it wouldn't matter.

The lease is in my name, and I am renting the extra room out to him. It's not WHAT he's doing, but WHERE he's doing it.

I told him that I would give him 30 days and he said he refuses to go. So, eviction seems the only option...
