In A DAY IN HOLLYWOOD / A NIGHT IN THE UKRAINE, a singer bemoans of her ongoing screen relationship with her singing partner in the song "Nelson."
What Nelson is she referring to?
GOOD LUCK, Everybody!!!

Paradox, WAY. TO. GO. !!!
YES, in the song "Nelson", an actress playing the role of 'Jeanette MacDonald' vents (QUITE viciously!) over her on-screen singing partnership with Nelson Eddy!
[For those who may not know, Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald were an "operatic" singing team who made ten films together in the 1930s].
CONGRATULATIONS, Paradox, on yet ANOTHER Trivial Pursuit Win!
And now for your bonus points:
What love duet (from the film ROSE-MARIE) is generally considered to be Eddy and MacDonald's most popular song?
C'mon guys, my threads are for Trivia, NOT Trivial Fighting!
(Now cyber-kiss each other and make up!!!)
I'm thinking Rose-Marie because the title song was very famous, and I have heard of it, 70 odd years after it was released...

Rose-Marie?
(Ok, I copied that one...)
*cyber-kisses paradox, slipping a little tongue*
Rose-Marie (could be a M_E trick question)
OR
Indian Love Call
Good guess, Paradox, but per the Nelson Eddy/Jeanette McDonald Official Website, that's not their No. 1 duet...
Would you care to try again?
Hint #2: Native American.

Indian Love Call!
I told you, Paradox...

CONGRATULATIONS To BOTH of You!!!
(For scooping up the bonus points, AND for that cyber-kiss!)
YES, "Indian Love Call" is generally recognized to be THE most famous duet of "America's Swinging Sweethearts".
NICE JOB, Paradox and Ellie!
And your prize?
Well, you two are headed TOGETHER to spend the weekend in the birthplace of Nelson Eddy--swinging Providence, Rhode Island!!!
Don't forget to check out the historic mansions on the beach and that gandola ride through historic Providence--I hear its a MUST!
Enjoy your weekend, folks!
With her...
But I said Indian Love Call first!
Oh well...But Ellie...no more kissing...I'm scarred for life...

We're sharing a bed, Doxie, whether you like it or not.
"Nelson":
My heart, my love, my life is his alone
But if, but if, but if the truth be known
My hero must stand on a box in our love scenes
God, does he act like a lox in our love scenes
Nelson, what your putting me through
And all of his notes above B flat verbotten
And all of his notes below B flat are rotten
Oh, Nelson, Don't call me, I'll call you
His love making casts such a pall
It's not hard to sleep through at all
His vocal chords carry insurance by Lloyd's and so I might add, should his adenoids
The lights wilt his hairdo on camera he'll primp
and quite frankly his hair isn't all that goes limp.
Darling Nelson
How incredibly boring, that's not singing it's snoring!
What your putting me through!
A picture of strength, and good breeding.
of course and of passion and warmth
(I'm discussing his horse)
Darling Nelson, don't call me, I'll call you
A symbol of virtue and class
America's sweethearts my ass
"A pair made in heaven," the fans love to say
But each time we kiss I swear that he's gay.
In film after film after film I betrothed him
we snuggled and smooched,
and oh God, how I loathed him.
My Nelson,
oh so calming
you'll never need embalming
Oh Nelson, what you're putting me through!

"Indian Love Call":
Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo, Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo
When I'm calling you
Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo, Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo
Will you answer too?
Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo, Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo
That means I offer my life to you to be my own
If you refuse me I will be blue, waiting all alone
But if when you hear my love call ringing clear
Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo, Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo
And I hear your answering echo so dear
Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo, Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo
Then I will know our love will become true
You'll belong to me and I'll belong to you
Then I will know our love will become true
You'll belong to me and I'll belong to you

Alack, alas, poor Peggy Hewett, who was HILARIOUS delivering "Nelson" and playing a version of "On the Good Ship Lollipop" on the baritone sax in A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine, passed away about three years ago. Wish we had seen her more on Broadway.
"One thing you could say about Peggy Hewitt/She was incredibly loved/And she knew it..."
