*snicker* One hour later and you're still here.
So I know none of you guys wanted to know about the setlist, but just in case Patronus or Jez care to engage me in this discussion (or if I can break your guys's willpower down), I've something to mention down here. Otherwise, everyone can just skip this and I'll just talk to myself.
*SPOILERS*
Crumbs was played in Minneapolis yesterday!! Isn't that great, Mab? (Oh yeah, you're not reading this. ) Woo, CRUMBS! (I don't really care, but I thought you would, in the likely event you end up reading this.) No sign of 'Fast Cars' yet, I don't think.
And WoWY and Wild Horses was also played!!
I see they also did Vertigo2. Eh. It was one thing when they cracked it out for the first time at Seattle II, because it was so spontaneous and a direct response to the extremely high and vocal energy in the Key Arena, but now that they've done it so much, it just seems like they're getting lazy! What about a 'I Will Follow', dammit??
You know, Miss Sarajevo is getting pretty comfy on the setlists...why?
**end spoilers**
Okay, I still wasn't getting work done, but I was "taking a break" to (FINALLY) put pictures up on my wall, and I was trolling around here looking for some to print out...which proved to be a collosal waste of time, because I've run out of ink in the color cartridge...so there.
*leaves in a huff*
Thanks for the Starry Night info. I'll see if MOMA has anything to say about when it's leaving, on its site. I think the MOMA pay-what-you-wish night is on Friday, so maybe I'll check it out quickly on 10/7 before we see Spamalot. (Actually, I don't need to go to the MOMA on Friday because I've borrowed my friend's membership card and I'll get in for free on any day, but I figure it'll be in transit probably from 10/10 onward?)
A freezing pillow? That's no fun! Does cold...er...rise? Maybe she's exacting revenge on you. Has the roomie been acting cold (pardon the pun) towards you?
Have fun at Lennon's closing! *sniffle* Who're you going with? How are your seats? I want a review!
Ugh, enjoy your reading. I tried to get through Ulysses and gave up and went to sparknotes.com instead!
**DISCUSSING TIFF'S SPOILERS**
I am so glad to hear that they played "Wild Horses". I may actually piss myself if they break that out on 11/20 as it's one of my favorite songs.
***END SPOILER***
I am so jealous that you get to go to Lennon's closing performance.
I really wanted to see that show before it closed.
Oh well, I have two pieces of audio footwear of it and I am expecting some video footwear in the next week or two so that will have to do.
Mabel, do you think you could grab me a playbill while you are there?
Finished a chapter, so I figured I'd pop in here to reply...MOMA is free Friday from 4-8. I know you said you've got your pass, but I wouldn't mind going again, so if you wanted to go on 10/7 or 10/14 (if Starry Night is already going to be in transit and you won't have a chance to catch it at all).
The roommie has indeed been rather cold. It's always worse when she's here w/ the bf though (which, unfortunately, is 90% of the time). I'd usually say "hi" when they came in, but after so many gruff "hi"s in return, I've pretty much stopped saying anything to them...which I fully realize doesn't help the situation, but frankly, it really isn't worth it to me. I'm really not the most gung-ho cheery person, so I'm sure I've made it worse by not striking up conversations and whatnot, but they certainly haven't made an attempt either, so...
I'm going to Lennon w/ my AMC friend (I'm pretty sure it's just the two of us) and she got the tix through TDF, so I'm not sure where they'll be. Probably in the mezz.
Ulysses isn't really that bad...I just feel like I'm plodding through it at and excruciatingly slow pace. I've evaded it until my senior year...guess it was bound to catch up w/ me!
Ooh, a Playbill would be cool! (If you're already getting one for Patronus, though, don't worry about me.) Are you going to stage-door it, Mab? Is Wicked in LA right now, Pat?
Sure, let's check out MOMA on Friday, 10/7 then. (I'll probably be rushed on 10/14, trying to get stuff done before the show anyway - like, er, packing.) Eee, I'm excited! I love, love, love modern art! Shall we line up for Spamalot SRO, head back to your place so I can ditch my stuff, tour around the Financial District (read: hit Century 21), go for lunch and mozy on back up to the MOMA? Then we can grab a bite to eat before (hopefully) seeing Spamalot!
(Feel free to interject with suggestions or if you've got other stuff to do, btw. I don't want to dictate what YOU have to do that week! )
Is Wicked in LA right now, Pat?
Nope, Wicked left here back at the beginning of August and went to San Francisco for a month. I believe it's currently in Denver and will begin the typical two week National Tour schedule.
I actually missed it hear, but drove up to San Francisco to catch Eden Espinosa.
Eden was phenominal, but all in all I was extremely underwhelmed by the show as a whole.
Was it your first time seeing the show?
Just a quickie...I shall try to snag you each a Playbill...anyone else? Ellie? Elphie? I'll probably just grab a couple extras, but if anyone else wants one, I'm sure I can snag one tomorrow at the Flea Market for a quarter or something. Speaking of which, is there anything any of you are dying for that might be at the flea market (something that's not terribly expensive)...any window cards or Playbills or anything???
Tiff, 10/7 sounds good to me. I don't really care what we do, so feel free to suggest away. I'll chime in if it's something that I really don't think I can swing. I do want to drag you to the Dallas BBQ for one late lunch/early dinner though. They have an early bird special that is $10 for both people (1/2 chicken each, plus potato, soup and cornbread)!! Pity they did away w/ their 1/2 price drinks for Happy Hour. They have some INCREDIBLY large frozen drinks!!
Okay, I must leave soon. (Work at 3:45, but I've gotta get stuff done before that!) Thanks for the future Playbill, Mabs! Don't go out of your way if there's some scary Nazi-usher standing watch!
What's usually offered at the flea market and how much are things? I would have looooooved to go! You need to get a PayPal account, Mabs, so I can wire the money to you online! (And what's this magical window card you guys keep referring to?)
Cheap food for $10?! No need to drag me! I'm so there! What a great deal!
Forgive me Broadway gods, for what I'm about to do.
I'm buying tickets to the Mamma Mia! tour for my parents' anniversary. My mom loves the show and it's supposed to be a "Please don't hate me for blowing my money carelessly, because I'm blowing it carelessly on you!" present.
They've got all kinds of stuff at the Flea Market. A lot of it is junk, but it's Broadway related, so it's fun junk! There are usually TONS of Playbills and window cards (basically a poster...a heavy-stock poster that is a size that doesn't fit into any frames other than the rather pricey Triton frames that are made specifically for them! It's going to cost me an arm and a leg to get mine framed once I get a place of my own).
The flea market also has a bunch of random stuff that actors/crew folk, etc are just getting rid of (books, movies, etc) I'm kicking myself for not buying that $1 toaster last year! It'd be more fun if you knew who donated stuff. I got a small posable Kermit the Frog from the Avenue Q box of random stuff...I like to think it used to belong to John Tartaglia!
Nice touch on the Mamma Mia! tix, Tiff. I'm going to drop it there before Dancing Queen gets stuck in my head. *shudder*
*sob* I wish I was there! You know, Sivon and Nikki are going tomorrow as well - maybe you'll run into each other? Siv will be the one fangirling over the Idina/Rent/Wicked stuff. (One of the millions.)
I love junky Broadway trinkets! I can't think of anything off the top of my head that I'd want (the BC/EFA site doesn't really help) - maybe if you could find window cards/Playbills/cheap junk from Rocky Horror, Aida or Lennon, that would be swell. How about this - I'll give you a $10 limit (because that's all I can afford after this trip is through!), and you can see how much cool stuff you can get me within those parameters? It doesn't just have to be those shows. I'd imagine I'd want Ave Q, Bee, DRS and Spamalot stuff too, but really, anything cute that catches your fancy. I won't limit you on the shows - I'm a BW junkie!
BTW, I'm not enough of an autograph junkie to spend $20 on standing in a gigantic line-up like that (charity aside), but the Celebrity Table this year looks pretty awesome!
Yup, one more post and I'm done. I just saw the Proof commercial for the first time! And...oy. It appears that they've played down Catherine's internal demons and mental torment, and played up the romance with Jake, which was such a secondary issue! It looks like a chick flick. Me no likey.
(Question - has it already been released in select cities? I'm confused. The Miramax site says it should've been released 'wide' last week, as does Yahoo! Movies, but Canada doesn't get it until Sept. 30 and we normally get the wide-releases the same day as the rest of the American cities. What gives?)
Okay, I'm done! G'bye!
One last post for me too...Proof opened in select cities (including NY) yesterday. It's supposed to be very good, and while I'm sure they've changed a lot of it to make it Hollywood-friendly, I'm still looking forward to it. We'll see.
Ooooh, and I found another color ink cartridge. YAY! Looks like I'll be able to print out some pix afterall. Oh man, I'm going to end up wasting so much time doing that. Kinda wish I hadn't found it!
ETA: I never really did the autograph table. It seems so impersonal. Not that hanging around the stage door gives you bonding time w/ people, but...I've never done it. The lines get crazy, and it would take someone like Vanessa Redgrave (to end my quest for the complete LDJ window card) to get me to do it.
If they have anything from The Last 5 Years I'd love it. Or anything especially cool that's Norbert related.
I have no idea how much signed window cards or playbills are there, but I am guess it's likely to pricy as a "pick that up for me" anyway.
Oh, and Tiff - it was my first time seeing Wicked live. I've seen several vids of it. I suspect I'll see it again when it hits the OC next summer.
I have tickets to see it in NY in November, but I am going to be selling those and my extra set of DRS on eBay shortly.
OK, one more...I'll see what I can do, Pat. It's kind of touch and go w/ shows that have been closed for a while, but you really never know what you'll find. Signed Playbills are usually $40 (though I got a Henry V one for $20 at the end of the day last year)...dunno about window cards. Probably $50-100. I'll keep my eyes peeled for Norbie related stuff for ya, Pat. They usually have a box of black and whites at the RENT table. I'll see if they have any Norbert pix. I know they did in years past, but they might be picked over now that he's more of a name.
Oooh, if you find black in whites at the Rent table with Yassmin Alers, I just might become your best friend.
It's doubtful though, since she was as swing.
Thanks for looking though!
You know, Mabel, we're doing a bang-up job at this whole "we're leaving to do work" thing.
Seriously...maybe just once, one of you should try saying,
F*CK work, I am going to sit here all day. See if you actually move?
That whole reverse psychology thing doesn't work. Because I say, "F*CK it, I'm just gonna sit here all day."
And then I do.
(BTW, there's a small chance I'll be in LA late this year or early next year!)
