Pfft...I'll believe it when I see it, Ellie.

But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)

Yeah, I was toodling around reading stuff on-line. Nothing of interest...did I miss anything...any definitive plans? Sounds like you guys are going to try for Spelling Bee on Saturday afternoon??

Yeah. I don't mind doing SRO instead of lottery though. (Granted, last year I was 2/2 for Wicked and Rent, but it seems unlikely that'll repeat!)

Well, you never know...but I'd say if it's something you really want to see, you're better off getting SRO if available. Spelling Bee is only 90 minutes, so it's not like that'd be terribly strenuous or anything.

I concur.

Ask me how gross, lazy, fat and sluggish I feel, having been on this site doing nothing productive for the last 5 hours.

Yeah, well...I blame you for getting nothing done! I decided not to go to a free concert in Times Square, because I found out yesterday that it was actually going to be in Times Square, but part of my decision was hinged on the fact I'd actually get something done tonight...so much for that!

Oh, and I totally feel you on the sluggish bit. I've been craving junk food like it's going out of style. Very bad. I need to stop eating candy. But Junior Mints are SOOOOOO GOOOOOD!!!!

I cheated on my Atkins diet today. <font color=red>Big Apple, here I come! (No more second thoughts!) It's documented on the Bitches thread. You're going to hear creaking from your roomie and her boyf gettin' it on, and from me breaking your couch.

(Do I need to bring my own pillow and blanket? Will it fit into my suitcase??)

Oh don't, it'll be a boring as dirt to you! This is just the travel-planning-lover in me dying to make up for lost/wasted time!

What else is there to plan for your trip?

Nope...I've got an extra pillow/sheets/blanket/towel(s). No worries.

Speaking of the roommies. I'm getting a little irked with their tendency to refer to each other solely as "dude" and their penchant for watching nothing but cartoons. Seriously, the Scooby Doo theme song is enough to make me want to scratch my eyes out.

Not much actually. My anal-ness got that squared away ages ago.

I just have to pick and choose what I am going to do during the days.

My show schedule shapes up like this:

Sat eve: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (front row center)
Sun mat: See What I Wanna See (orchestra center)
Sun eve: Rent (SRO/Lotto)
Monday: U2
Tuesday: The Light in the Piazza (2nd row center)
Wednesday mat: Spelling Bee (SRO/Lotto)
Wednesday night: Sweeney Todd (2nd row center)
Wednesday late night: Rent movie

We have a long list of things we'd like to do during the days but we really only have Monday and Tuesday to do much so it's just pick and choose really.

If anyone wants to help me and my wife win the lotto to either Spelling Bee or Rent - we'll accept your help. <font color=red>Big Apple, here I come! (No more second thoughts!)

What's with Anderson Cooper always literally being in the MIDDLE of things? Every natural disaster, every terrorist attack, there he is! He's like the grim reaper in a rain slicker!

Good show schedule, Pat! Are you meeting up with Mab and #1 while you're in town? What other things are on your agenda for the city?

Yep, I intend to meet up with Mab the day after U2 at some point to give her some footwear from that show.

#1 and I are actually sitting in the same row during See What I Wanna See so I assume we'll meet. <font color=red>Big Apple, here I come! (No more second thoughts!)

As for other plans it's mostly a lot of ideas at this point.

My wife wants to do a horse and carriage ride through Central Park and I think we anticipate going to the Guggenheim.

I am not entirely sure yet though...

Always open to suggestions.

Well, since Pat and Elph are going to SWIWS on the same night, in the same section, I'd imagine they'll meet up, and depending on what's going on, I may be able to pop in and help you and your wife at a lotto. <font color=red>Big Apple, here I come! (No more second thoughts!)

The Guggenheim is very high on my list. So is MOMA. I would give MOMA a slight edge, just because it's supposed to be very enormous and extensive post-renovation.

I won't do the carriage ride, but I'm planning on lounging in Central Park for a bit.

I'd definitely go for MOMA over the Guggenheim. I forget when MOMA has pay-what-you-can...is it on Monday? Hmmm...whenever it is, you may want to sneak in then, because I think it's $20 otherwise. I went for free w/ an art class when it first re-opened in Manhattan, and it really was very imressive! And I know it's kind of a cliche, but I was thrilled to see Starry Night (it was on tour when I went to MOMA before it moved to Queens).

The lotto that I really want to win is the Rent lotto.

I figure this could very well be a last dance with Rent for us and given the obscene number of times we've each seen it'd be a bit of a shame to end the run without seeing it on Broadway the last time somewhere other than the front row.

I can't believe it's been nearly 6 years since I've seen the show.

I don't think it'll be hard to win Rent lotto. I caught it on a Sunday, too, during mid/low-season and won the lotto. (The crowds didn't seem to be what they were when I tried lotto in 2001...)

Oooh, Starry Night's at the MOMA? I'd like to see it in the flesh! Whatever happened to The Scream? Wasn't it stolen?

It's impossible to gage Rent that weekend.

It is the weekend before Thanksgiving. A lot of things are dark on Sunday night and the movie opens later that week so press should be in full force.

We'll see. Hopefully lotto karma will be on our side.

Yeah, it was stolen from a museum in Oslo...actually, I think Starry Night is at the Met for a while, w/ a group of Van Gogh's sketches for Starry Night. The Met is always fun, because you can either just sneak in, or give them a buck. I'm sorry, I can't afford to pay their $12 (or whatever it is) every time I go there!

ETA: OK, I think I'm off. I'm going to try to read a smidge and then go to bed...Looks like it's going to be a menage tonight. Yippee! <font color=red>Big Apple, here I come! (No more second thoughts!) Oh well, I couldn't really expect them to NEVER sleep here, could I?

Let's just hope he's not staying over as long in this dorm as she was staying at HIS place! (How many days was it??)

Durrr...it's at the Met now? I was hoping to skip the Met this time around. I saw it in pretty good detail the last two times (actually, that's a lie - I only had 1.5 hours there last year - grr) and I was going to focus all my time at MOMA and Guggenheim. Maybe Whitney again, but eh.

Patronus, you should buy at full price if it comes down to it! You're coming all the way from LA! - When will you ever see it again? <font color=red>Big Apple, here I come! (No more second thoughts!)

And with that, good night to you folks, and I'm heading off too. I gotta get some work done, and my leg muscles feel like it's atrophied.

Just checked...Starry Night is going to be at the Met starting 10/18...I wonder if it'll even still be at MOMA while you're here or if it'll be in transit??

Oh, and it was over a week since they spent the night here...I say they, because in the last few weeks, almost a month, there was only one night she slept here solo...otherwise it's been both or neither. The snoring has thankfully stopped, but I went in to bed and the room was FRIGID! And they put something against the wall where I climb up to the top bunk and I almost killed myself in the dark getting up there. I didn't realize how cold it was until my head hit the pillow and the pillow was freezing cold. I figured F*CK it, I'll just pile on the blankets...Brrrrr!!!

Tonight's Lennon's closing...sorry, Tiff. My friend is mini-discing it though, so if it turns out ok, I should be able to snag you a copy. I know it's not the same though.

Guess that's about it. Gotta try to get some work done. I'm reading Ulysses for my Contemporary Brit Lit class, so that's kind of slow going.
